When I think I’m being handy, I made some diy supports like the pvc top prop mod for wranglers. They don’t look great but function. Then you come along and make me want to ditch my “handy work” and do it your way😂. I feel Australia is ahead of the game when it comes to products like this. I’ve never seen anything like these before

Great idea, i might use this for the corner sections, I use a curved rafter from supa peg from back middle to the front cross bar

Instead of using those black brackets, drill a correct sized hole in the top of the arm for it to sit into makes bars slightly higher, and also invisible when not in use.

My issue with that is you are only supporting the crossbar by the thickness of the awning arm material. Whereas the brackets provide maybe 10mm of contact so are in fact self supporting the crossbars, I can also easily replace the fittings too, if an elongated hole wears its drill another hole time.

What a great idea Darryl. Thanks for sharing that! Maybe you can sheath that 12mm aluminium with some soft hose or maybe attach some of that hot water insulating split tube to stop it wearing the awning material as it flaps in the breeze? Not sure if this is a problem over years of camping, but in case it is...you know what I mean. Whatever, that is such a great idea - I didn't realise those things can be bought yet I've noticed them on utes myself!
