I saw her dance by the fire On that summer night The smoke was rising higher Fading with the light Like a spirit in the wind Born to be free She smiled through the flames Come to me And I remember The sweet surrender The summer's still in my heart I'll always remember The days of summer The summer's still in her heart There we lay beside the light Until the early dawn We were ships in the night Lost in the storm She was taken by the wind Over the sea The long days of summer stay with me And I remember The sweet surrender The summer's still in my heart I'll always remember Smoke on the water The summer's still in my heart She was taken by the wind, born to be free And I won't forget her smile
I have listened to this song so many times lately after I found it. Once I lost my love of life, after the days of that summer, ten years ago. I knew that she was the only woman I could ever really love. Now I'm married to another woman, and have a lovely, priceless baby girl, but I still think about her every day. Every fucking day. Every fucking dream is about her. I lost her, because she left me. I wanted to marry her, but she wasn't sure about me. I wanted to have a baby with her, but she wasn't ready. I loved her more than anything. And still do. But she forgot me. She will be forever my last days of summer.
Darren is a song writer...simple as.....bands today cant write or compose, when he has NOW..Andy, his son Paris...and the beautiful band members of Dare, i always hear alot of Phil Lynott, which is NOT surprising, as Darren took over from Thin Lizzy when Phil left us, it's music that lives forever, it touches ones soul, it creates a moment...music today doesnt do that.....EVER
