That was a good issue. I think the writer knew how to write a story that could bring attention to the visuals/art. I've read a few of the later Ben Urich stories and they weren't memorable as this story Brennert wrote.
They sort of just rehash the whole arc with him trying to expose Kingpin again but with Norman Osborn. His wife dying off-panel is also a good showcase for how his actual character was really irrelevant and it was his familiarity to readers that was keeping him in all these stories.
@@SonofCapwolf That’s because it was an anthology so every hour is made up of multiple stories. I was surprised to find he wasn’t a producer on it, as usually someone that involved is also a producer. But maybe that’s more of a modern thing. Straczynski took his place for the final season as I recall.
Did you ever see the 2000s one with Forrest Whittaker as Rod Sterling? It was like a new season of Goosebumps showed up trying to convince people it was The Twilight Zone.
@@SonofCapwolf I saw at least some of it when it first came out. Didn’t like it so I haven’t revisited it. Then the Peele one which I unsurprisingly hated. People gave the 80s one grief for not being full of heavy handed messaging, including the guy who wrote the TZ companion book. The new one is, of course, nothing but that.
I'm happy thinking that the new one was cancelled after one season. I dare not look up if that was the case or if it's onto Season 7 by now and Rosie Perez is in every episode as herself.
