Def great suggestions! Probably needed a Top 7 for this one ;). But the reason I left 131 off is because I like to keep these videos focused on the character…131 is a fantastic Daredevil book, but one that I would save for a Bullseye video.

You might be right! Daredevil feels like the character for people who like Spiderman but with better writing :P

Marvel Comics has won ~55 Eisner awards and 14 of those were for Daredevil. I think the next closest is Spider-Man, with 6 or 7, and that is across all his titles.

Good selection. Surprised about 170. 181 is quite iconic and 131 is 1st appearance of bullseye.

Those two are also great picks for sure. I thought about 181 for sure. 131 is also great but figured I should save it for one day if I ever do a Bullseye video :D

Some solid choices for sure. Another one that I would think to add as well would be 1st Bullseye cuz I just associate him with Daredevil as well! Love this series, I’m all about it!

The very first graded comic I ever purchased was a CGC 5.5 of Daredevil #7. I still have it, six years later.

Yeah agreed. Also someone mentioned to me that DD is one of the longest running solo titles of all time. That should say something for sure.

My favorite super hero that got me into the hobby, I started with issue 210 in 4th grade and just finished volume 1 last year after collecting back issues for 35 years. You highlighted some great issues, the entire Frank Miller run is really great. I would also highly recommend the 'Born Again' series where Frank Miller came back after a hiatus, issues 227 to 233.

Have them all. Working at a comic book store in the early 90’s a co-worker got me to read the frank miller run. My favorite run still to this day. The Kevin smith run was very good as well.

I have a COMPLETE run (minus the most recent 21-24,26 because MidTown Comics is a bunch of bungling idiots. Lots of really good runs, but relatively few KEYS - might be part of the reason the value of those keys are depressed compared to their counterparts in other titles.

Daredevil 7 is one of the best comic book covers of all time, imo. I know #1 is the book that everyone is wishing they could’ve got before it recently spiked but DD7 is the next best option and a way better cover. Awesome content as usual👍🏻

Great video featuring some great books!! A couple more I'd like to add are Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man 27 & 28. This is actually a 2 part crossover with Daredevil that Frank Miller actually drew before Daredevil 158. They're also a good bit cheaper than the Daredevil book, and issue 27 especially would pair beautifully with Daredevil 158

Coupla more thoughts about DD #7 -- First up, Stan Lee cited that issue as one of his favorite stories, partly because Sub-Mariner beats the tar out of DD but DD never stops fighting back, and ultimately Subby decides to forget his plan to conquer the surface world due to DD's selfless courage. Second, it's the pinnacle of artist Wally Wood's brief run on the title (he was involved on issues 5-11), and according to Woody, he unilaterally made the decision to put DD in the new costume and Stan simply went along with it. Finally, DD #7 has been reprinted numerous times, and if you're a fan of oversized comics, the reprint to get is the 1974 Marvel Treasury Special "Giant Superhero Holiday Grab-Bag" -- which contains the story but doesn't depict DD or Subby on the cover.

Yeah it was def undervalued for a long time. But its probably still undervalued. If Charlie Cox comes to the MCU its gonna rocket

With the latest $16K sale on an 8.5 for #1 at ComicLink, it's up 118% in the past 6 months. Finally a correction in price. #158 is actually the 3rd Frank MIller on Daredevil (Marvel Team-Up 27/28). As time goes on, I'm less and less in love with it, and I don't think it'd make my top five list. #168 is grossly undervalued. GREAT book. I'd go with #1, #7, #131 (1st Bullseye), #168, and #181 (Death of Elektra). I really like your #170 pick though! Other considerations: #16 (1st Romita art on Spider-Man), #254 (1st Typhoid Mary), Vol. 2 #5 (death of Karen Page)

Thanks. Was lucky to get #1 in 2003 behind the counter for $20 canadian at a LCS. It is roughly a 2 or 2.5 raw and complete. I was definitely shocked.

I was in my early teens when all those grails came out and Daredevil was right up there with Spider-man in my mind. He had that cool billy club and I liked that early costume. My mom made me get rid of all my comics, the first of all those great characters and I didn't start collecting again until the mid-'70s. I'm selling all of those now to help pay bills.

Great video! I am a huge Daredevil fan and at one time owned DD 168 and 181. That last one needs to be on the list for sure however the modern DD run done by Chip Zdarsky is awesome and another book to collect is from the series before with Vigil the villain in DD 610 second print with Vigil on the cover! Also the Marvel Knights run of DD is awesome as well!

DD1 by Kevin Smith. Eye popping cover and one of the best runs on any hero in comics. That entire run 1-150 was mind blowing

Daredevil #1 actually broke a record again this year, a 9.8 sold for 250k.

I would argue #131 is a much bigger key than #158. Bullseye is Daredevil's first true, worthy (and completely organic to Daredevil) villain. Other important keys are #4 first Purple Man, #3 first Owl, #16 first Spider-Man appearance in Daredevil, and for fun; #8 first Stilt-Man, #18 fist Gladiator, and #42 first Jester. Also #20 for the first Gene Colan, who drew the definitive Daredevil and gave him his signature look. A lot of the earlier books get overlooked by the Frank Miller, books but it really is worth reading those earlier issues if only to see the amazing work Gene Colan did on Daredevil. He drew over 90 issues of Daredevil, more than any other artist that has worked on the book over the past 50+ years. My personal choice for top 5 grail books would have to be #1, #7, #16, #131, #168. #170 is important cos of first Kingpin in Daredevil, but it wasn't the first appearance of the Kingpin overall and it's not as rare of a book as #16 is so that would be my argument why I'd replace that one with #16.

Big Daredevil fan, although I've been out of the game for so long I sadly don't own any comics of him. Great storyline -- I even enjoy the movie as poor as it is, lol! Good show as well. Thank you for uncovering some good ones to seek. May start saving for a good copy of the 1st Frank Miller. Appreciate the tip!

Thanks for this! By coincidence, the DD #158 I bought off the rack as a kid (also the first comic I considered I was "collecting" along with my older brother) is in my first CGC submission right now! Also, just last week I finally got a lower grade DD #7 - that was my grail for the year, so I'm good!

Frank Miller took Dare Devil to super status in the Marvel Universe but it has really remained in it's own niche only to share some space with Spider Man at times. Unfortunately DD hasn't had the major cross overs to X-Men or the Avengers. The Ben Afleck movie was horrible. Michael Duncan as King Pin was excellent. DD should remain it's own niche and some the the different titles that I have seen look interesting but unfortunately I haven't had the time to read them.

I'd say no time like the present. I don't think the price correction has peaked yet, so the sooner you get in, the better.

Like Nix said, its def a little pricier now than it has been in years past. But that said if we get DD in the MCU the book is going to the moon! haha. So I think its only going up as well.
