Only five people, and yes they may be thousands of people doing things, those are the privileged few the immigrants got the worst jobs in the most dangerous and added the thousands of workers may be only a hundred had to put their lives on the line so that's one out of 20 hypothetically speaking, a bunch of guys died building Trump towers to the point that people didn't want to be on that job, but it was hard times for the construction business so a lot of people had to do it, it was considered a cursed project
60 people died building the World Trade Center in 1970. Just 5 died in 1931 building Empire State and 0 died building the Chrysler building. Pretty fascinating
My dad worked construction in the 70’s and 80’s when Americans were doing it and doing it right before we sold out to foreign cheap labor. He was a lead man for a steel mill I use to go with my mom to take him lunch sometimes. He worked many construction jobs I do remember him wearing a hard hat sometimes.
The men that were on that site the ones way up high they had no fear of falling you want to know Their Fear back then it wasn't from the heights it wasn't from falling it was the whole means of survival putting a paycheck worth of food in the house so him and his family can eat
I remember my father in the seventies walking a bridge beam 90 ft up over water. He was a carpenter getting ready to build concrete forms on those girders. He also worked on several dams on the Ohio river. Seriously hazardous work.
Iron workers to this day remain THE ONLY construction workers that are NOT required by OSHA to wear fall protection while working as long as they sign a death waiver
Over 2,500 workers and only 5 died? Wow. That’s actually pretty impresivne. I would of tbiugbt a kot more. “Walked nonchalontly across beams”. They probably couldnt be scared or othersise They wouldnt get anything done.
Some where native people who were taught at a young age when hunting to walk one foot after another which is great on a beam a Thousand feet off the ground.
Are you aware that America is a country of immigrants. So every American besides natives are foreigners. And natives worked on the empire state building. So it’s a pretty perfect symbol for the country. Not to mention it being a symbol of capitalism. The economic model America has had since its conception. You haven’t found any irony.
@@Miquelalalaa Europeans who came here to be American and live the American dream. Europeans who knew the value of hard work and striving to contribute America.
