Hi Nitin! Is visting beautiful Darjeeling on February 1st a good idea or better to postpone it for May? I am affraid it is too cold and not an enjoyable time for it? Please recommend, thanks, Nitin.
What's the weather of Darjeeling in June? Is it advisable to take jackets or only sweat shirts will be enough? Please reply soon. I am planning to visit in June.
Darjeeling is very beautiful in every ways...People over there wonderful , very lovable, no words to say ... Hats off to all the old women , who still work with sweet smile... even in cold weather they serve the visitors with big smile... God Bless them all...
A few more suggestions for people visiting... You must go to Lamahatta. It's an incredibly beautiful forest. Climb to the top and you'll be rewarded with an incredibly peaceful place! Also Rock Garden - a cascading waterfall park. One more thing... You'll occasionally see musicians playing in the street for donations. Don't speed by. Stop and sit and listen for a while. They're incredibly talented! (And throw them some rupees! :) About hotels... There are numerous hotels that face the mountain - I stayed at the Valentino. It was ok. Cost was $30/night. Request a view of the mountain when reserving the room.
Darjeeling is a wonderful hill station to visit, one of top most tourist destination in India. Colerful and very close to nature. thanks for video, well made :)
Hey Mark Love your show I started watching a few weeks ago now im addicted. How you capture the true origin of where ever you go is out standing. I have been in the food business 30 years and never did I ever see such passion . Thank you
Hey Emma, it's a wonderful mountain post. Hmm, I don't know if I experience shock, but I definitely pay attention to cultural aspects of traveling and I fully enjoy learning about cultures and people who are different from myself.
Hey Jimmy, yah you're right Darjeeling is a nice quiet place compared to other parts of India, it is pretty much just like Nepal. More food coming soon!
Brings back memories, feels like I was there just yesterday. We got to Tiger Hill too late, after the sun was already up. I did the same stuff, but also a tea plantation tour, which was better for getting some nice photos of the tea plants and workers, vs learning much.
My three children also studied highter education in Darjeeling . several time I went there with fun and saw my children . I admire place and nepalese too! Thank for sharing this video clip. ?🌹
Wow I'm happy that Mark liked our place I didn't know you have been here in my hometown I'm have been following you since decade but I came across here today
Hey Jenna, good to hear that. Is he from Darjeeling? I will be posting about Nepal, but it will still be a while, after Darjeeling I headed back into North India before going to Nepal (due to visa, only 1 entrance to India).
A Tea House in Guadalajara, Mexico with the name Darjeeling brought me here, curious dude that I am, Darjeeling is a beautiful town and I very much appreciate this helpful and interesting upload you share here with us Mark! Jari Naraski(greetings in purembe)from Querétaro, Mexico! :)
people saying Darjeeling was once part of Nepal and should be in Nepal must also know throughout history geography of many countries have changed, at once Afghanistan , srilanka and parts of Thailand were controlled by different Indian kings , but today India can't claim on all those..
+partha sararthi mahakul by this logic then India should claim on all the countries in indian sub continent which were once part of some Indian king which starts from present day Afghanistan and ends till Indonesia..
Little different scenario between Darjeeling and Nepal. Nepal ceded Darj to British in 1815 AD via Sugauli treaty. When India got independence in 1947 and British left, this place should have come to Nepal. Again, in 1950 India and Nepal had a treaty that clearly stated, any treaty signed a priori would become defunct. Said that, Darj would have come to Nepal if nepalese leaders had balls.

I see the East India Company did its job really well. We seem to still be fighting among one another over what belongs where ad to whom instead of trying to unite. *All hail the once mighty East India Company!*
Trivia - That's Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world (towards the end of the video). Vivien Leigh, born Vivian Mary Hartley, in Darjeeling on 5th. November, 1913. She had her initial schooling in Darjeeling's Loreto Convent.

Hey, I would love to visit the south of India sometimes, but unfortunately this time in India I was only in the north, I woud love to visit the south next trip!
Yes, I understand the motivation. You, my friend, are a citizen of the world...at least of the places you've been to. With the respect you demonstrate towards the inhabitants, they reciprocate equally. BTW, your wife does a great job of videographing your travels. I truly enjoy them, especially the ones with food. Keep up the good work!
