Dark and Darker Is NOT What I Expected As A New Player...

I got owned by the first mob I saw too. This game isn't easy on new players, but not every game has to be. Your first extract will feel meaningful. Knowing you're getting better as you win more and more 1v1's is what keeps me playing this game.

Quick tips 1. U can increase brightness and decrease graphics to see a little better 2. Moving backwards using S slows u down making it harder to back up so just walksides or just turn around 3. Some weapons do more damage when the top of the weapon hits and are weaker when hit closer to the handle 4. Try out the other maps, goblin caves can be bit annoying 5. Just play the game you’ll figure out the mobs attack patterns eventually

In Merchants tab, there is a Squire, you can set your starter gear/weapons and wear some shoes

Don’t get in a hurry. This game rewards patience. When starting out consider the fact that even geared players get themselves trapped and killed by PvE (literally even the best). If you watch pro players see how cautious and hesitant they play. There can always be a rogue or Third party waiting to clean up the survivors. Information and knowledge are power. Open doors are gateways enemies can quickly enter from. Try to begin considering your environment more deeply and you’ll find more success. Awareness is the most important tool in DnD. Start with learning how to deal with PvE, don’t get impatient, and then expand to understanding enemy player capabilities and you’ll have a better experience.

Simple tip for fighting mobs, get right into they’re face and as soon as they start to attack, turn to either right or left and then move away with A or D (you do this because moving side to side is faster than backpedaling

best advice i can give to new players is take rooms slowly mobs seem very brutal (they very well can be) but just try to aggro one at a time, ranged mobs (archers, boa slingers, mage etc) all have larger aggro range than melee mobs so you can aggro them first! all ranged mobs except crossbow archers can be dodged by walking in a circle/half circle but dont get too close or they will hit you regardless. but biggest piece of advice is patience just take the game slow and enjoy it the best you can :)

My best advice is learn the Frost Caverns. It doesn't have the encroaching Death Wall so it's very easy to learn some mechanics by never leaving a room until it's clear and done and you're safe. Wandering players can still occur, and it does have a death mechanic of freezing you to death slowly before outright killing you, so there is a time limit, but it's not a wall that hems you in, and it's static exits (stairs, rafts, and an elevator) that escape instead of portals.

I had forgotten what it's like at the start, keep going! Those first kills and extractions feel fantastic.

Every time you hit the ground/wall it slows your next swing. Also you can sit down to regen the grey health. Fun watching you play though 🤣

Your squire voice is great. I think if it was refined you could be a cooler stampertv. This is a hard game for new players especially with our limited playerbase it is mostly only the direhard fans playing. It IS coming out on epic and steam soon though so you should keep at it and at the very least revisit when all the new players join. Then you'll be the one with the upperhand for sure with all the suffering you spent learning lol

Fun fact: Over 80% of players die to the first mob they encounter. This game is pain.

I like this video showing the new-player experience. FYI you can sit down to heal, but it is slow. Often it is still better than no healing at all.

my best recommendation for new players is to not freak out when dealing with mobs

Haha you got this bro keep at it, this game can be very punishing. Heres a tip when moving sideways your movement speed is 100% but moving backward its significantly slower so when baiting an enemy to attack turn sideways and walk sideways away from the enemy

you did alot better then lots of other ppl when they were new, ESP since you prob recorded this in multiclassing, which kinda messed up pvp with casual and new players, giving players who know what theyre doing a huge advantage with builds, itll be gone soon tho so pls stay

Brings back memories. My brother and I must have played 50 games before either of us got out once. The joy and glee from that was a feeling that doesn't come often in games.

I will say this game is not in the best state due to the unfriendliness to new players you usually only play with people who have been playing for 100s of hours I do recommend the game but it’s very brutal.

This game is brutal for new players. Too much Meta going on and players leveling alts for a new player to stand a chance in a fight. They need tutorial games for new accounts

subscribing before you blow up

Advice from a 300 hour absolute shitter. gear dominance is real, good players get good loot and good loot leads to better loot. The game is low-key rock paper scissors in terms of pvp, some classes and builds will just directly counter yours with very little you can do, even if you play perfect good luck 1. Killing someone with better gear and 2. Killing someone who counters you. Combine those two and even the best players can lose their best kits. Multiclassing WOULD have fixed this if it didn't completely remove counter play (people can make builds with no weakness and insane synergies). Because of this, I would heavily suggest getting accustomed to normal lobbies. High roller is tempting, but until you have at least 2-3 green kits I would avoid it like the plague, and if you do go in just accept death and take it as a learning experience. If you DO get out, however, there is a lot of reward. I can pull around 600-900 gold on good runs from Lions King Chests off of treasure (gear with best stats can sell for even more). There are a ton of videos on enemies attacks, how to dodge, block and kill them, etc definitely give it a look as this game explains nothing to you, such as pressing s to move backwards cuts your move speed in half, so it's better to turn your character and move back with your A or D key or to even turn all the way around quickly and W key forward. You can literally open your menu stats and see it, will take you from 90 percent move to like 65 just by pressing S. This will get you killed a lot, I didn't know about it my first 80 hours (thus am shitter). Play a lot of normals, get a feel for how classes play, and don't worry to much about gear right now. A legendary sword isn't gonna help somene much on their 20th run, investing in expensive items is essentially farming for kitted players. This game has some of the most rewarding feeling combat I've ever experienced, if you want a little side quest try killing the cave troll! It's way way easier than most people think, taking off your hat chest piece and leggings gives you more move speed against him, I've been able to kill him with every class minus spellcasters (warlock would be easily possible). There is a map on the reddit, it takes me a few searches to find Everytime but find the must recent up to date post, once you start recognizing areas you can decide the route you want. Areas you have cleared, that's your bubble. The bigger your bubble, the more you can retreat and reposition. Don't take a fight you aren't in advantage to if you're able, hearing people before they hear you is very important. hope any of this helps
