Same here. I've put out a test stripe on my backyard to see what I think before I put it on the entire surface. I've noticed that an extra benefit of the DGL having iron in it is that it has killed the moss in spots in the test stripe. Moss hates iron!
OK, so DGL 18 lb bag has 25% nitrogen ... so we have 4.5 lbs of nitrogen in one bag ... or if I had a 4,500 sf front yard then one bag gives us 1 lb per 1,000 sf (which I think is a light rate)? My soil samples were like that guy you mentioned ... too much P and K so good nitrogen is all I need ... DGL sounds like the right track for us?
House by the HOA park was cutting grass, 3 guys trying there best, actually had a Honda HRX but was running rough. Yard full of POA, they think it's grass clearly. Wanted to say put some ethanol free gas in that and inform them about the weeds but didn't wanna crush their spirits, they were looking at it like job well done
I was tempted to order it..but I'm sticking with pgf complete. My reason is I use a manual reel mower for my bermuda. If you want to get in shape, or do another thing to your workout routine, buy a unpowered reel mower.
Hey, Doc! I have an acre lawn and trying to get it Bermuda grass to thrive without the weeds using post emergent as the weeds are in full effect. Any guidance or resources on how to do this the most cost effective way?
You will come out cheaper per app using professional products. Celsius and Certainty will help. Don't forget pre-emergent like prodiamine. Now there are other professional products you can use that will make the per app cost even cheaper but upfront cost may scare you away. One bottle of Celsius will cover 2 acres. Certainty which is specialty will cover max 35,000 sqft. I have a 1/2 acre and after the first broadcast app I only spot spray now. Same bottle 2 yrs. Also cut at minimum 2 times a week that way your bermuda can grow and choke the weeds out.
Can you do a video of this and Green Shocker. Like use cases for both, which is better based on what you are trying to accomplish, etc? I have Bermuda, Charlotte, NC region. Grass is already pretty green and debating between Green Shocker and DGL. Although I need this by Thursday due to rain coming so most likely gonna order Green Shocker instead.
Thank you for the help! Been watching all your videos about pretty much anything. In the process of treating my sod lawn thats been over a year of establishment👍🏼
Hey Doc , I got a question, I recently acquired a pretty nice spreader on fb marketplace (Scott’s turf pro R 8- $40) it seems hard to find much info about it. Have you ever used one ? How did you like it ? Did you find a usable conversion chart? It seems to have adjustments for drop rate and throw width ( new to me ), just looking for any suggestions you may have . Thx in advance! Getting ready to throw down DGL tomorrow! 😉😊
Oh wow. I was thinking it was a few weeks too early to put that (nitrogen) down ( Bermuda) and I live in South Carolina… I only just scalped my lawn last week Saturday
2 bags on the way. Very excited for this product. I really didnt want to backpack spray. Can I hit it now in Cherokee County GA? This week high 80-low of 50-60. I'm 85% green
Doc, I’ve had great success with Scott’s GreenMax. I knows it’s Nitrogen and little bit of iron. How do you think it compares to this product? Pros/Cons?
Doc, I tried DGL and it burned my lawn or least that’s what it looks like. As I have a bunch of rust color spots and lawn looks yellow. Any suggestions what to put down next? I used my normal spreader and it was a light code. I’m in SC.
Doc, would love to get your input on something, Something weird is going on with my back lawn in that both P&K have decreased from my initial soil analysis a year ago, The Ph just will not move much if any at all. Zenith Zoysia lawn Shady area. Would love to have you look at my soil analysis but have no idea of how to get them to you.
Thanks for clearing up the confusion between Green Shocker and DGL. Learned today from this demo that I’m spreading too heavy. Definitely differs from the bag rate. Appreciate the detail instructions Doc. After 2 years of paying a professional company I did a soil test and had zero nutrients in my yard. I’m slowly learning the program and following your system. Thanks for everything!
Doc, what are your thoughts and philosophy on PGRs? My lawn is in Fayette County GA, nonirrigated, lots of canopy, and is 90% perennial rye and 10% TTTF.
I’ve used this for two applications now and both times it has spotted the grass? Any thoughts on if this isn’t made for TiffTuff Bermuda? Each time I’ve done the lower rate.
Thanks for looking at the soil samples Doc, After we spoke on the 10th I ordered my DGL and applied it on the 12th. My yard looks awesome in just a short time. Thank you for providing such awesome content. I'll be sending those pictures for a follow-up soon. Thanks again
Good afternoon. Just received my soil test back the other day and was shocked to find that my Nitrogen was really low. I have purchased a few products online from RU-vid and I'm not completely sure, how I feel. Anyhow, I am interested in your product because I don't need phosphorus, I do need potassium (15.05). My Nitrogen is only 1.61. I have a cool season lawn KBG and Tall Fescue. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. By the way, I was glad to hear that you have a product that's all Nitrogen. Thank you
There are plenty of products both granular and liquid thats all nitrogen. One thing I dont like about Doc is he only talks about and uses products that he makes a commission on. I mean you have Green County Fertilizer, Mirimichi Green, Flagstaff, GCI Turf, etc.... You missing out on a lot of knowledge and spending way more money than needed for lawn care.
After I applying, I realized I doubled the amount of DGL. So, I immediately started watering. I put down 1.5" of water within a 5-hour period. Given this little info, any thoughts if I cooked my lawn of just pushed a lot of growth? Rook move I know but here I am! I have a really healthy lawn, I just wanted to have a green POP for a BBQ next weekend.
Ready for your beach house videos. I had Zenith Zoysia sod installed 4 years ago (Coastal SE North Carolina). I also have common bermuda creeping in. Don't like the slow growth of zoysia and it can't handle much nitrogen. I fought the bermuda for a few years with Fusilade, but gave up and decided to accept. I actually like the common bermuda better than the zoysia. A couple years ago I oversewed with common bermuda and recently ordered LaPrima bermuda as well. I'm going for a zoysia/bermuda lawn and will see how it goes.
What's up doc! I've been interested in the Andersons Biochar from your videos but I'm also interested in the Jonathan Green Love your Soil. I just over seeded my tall fescue lawn with Jonathan Green Black Beauty about 3 weeks ago. It's coming up good in some spots but unfortunately I think some of it washed away during a heavy rain where we had almost 1" in 24 hours. I want to try some more of JG products and the Andersons too. I am wondering if there's a difference between the Andersons Biochar and JG Love your soil. If they do the same thing or if they're different enough to where both would be beneficial.
Here in southern California we have a wonderful clay soil that retains phosphorous, potash and other important minerals practically forever so I only have a need for nitrogen for my lawns. Inexpensive Ammonium sulfate (21-0-0) or the even cheaper, Urea (46-0-0) is all I ever use. I get great result with these year round on my Tall Fescue grass. Watering very soon after application is important so as to not have the Nitrogen dissolve into the air. Are these fertilizers ever used in Georgia?
Doc , I am a recent subscriber to your channel, and I appreciate you and Thank you for the information on lawns. I just recently started to work on my lawn, I have St Agustin grass, I live in Texas,. If I were to overseed it with Bermuda grass seed , what would be the best approach. Thank you , love your videos keep it up
All that time and money wasted on a lawn when the same time and money would be invested into a food forest that gives back for generations; as soon as you stop maintaining the lawn it takes over and isn’t the same as if you were maintaining meanwhile a food forest matures with time and provides more abundance yearly without extensive cost and maintenance
Doc I have had it with Andersons I can only buy it from Amazon and my orders are always late, damaged and not worth the money. Andersons needs to use a different distributor other than Amazon.
@@HowTowithDoc I did not know that Doc. I thought Amazon was the only option. Amazon has gotten so bad with order processing and delivery I don't order from them any longer. Thanks Doc.
Edit the clip and get rid of the UPS guy unless you want him to lose his job. They run a tighter ship than the Marines and pride themselves on a squeaky clean image.
@@Aph87 you make no sense lmaooo instant release instantly goes into the ground… slow release would have a higher chance of rain washing it away. He literally explains this in the video lol
"maybe just under a 1/4 of an inch - like 3/8ths of an inch" - did you really just say that? Sorry "Doc" - 3/8ths of an inch is actually bigger than 1/4 of an inch
