The first time I visited this dungeon at the early age of 14, my view of the world was changed. From the women’s holdings below the “master” bedroom and the mens holdings left with no light. It really showed the manipulation and horror used to break the people. I am proud to be a descendant of Akans. My Jamaican, American & Guyanese ancestors maintained much of the traditions. And although I hate what my ancestors endured, my existence speaks to their resilience. M’abusiafo, Asante Kotoko! Wo ku apem, apem be ba!

Your history is thousands of years old and I suspect intertwined with that of ancient Egypt and the 12 tribes of the scriptures.

Elmina means the mines, which is literally an Akan word, "a-mina". "Amina" means a hole (as in, to dig holes into the ground) because there was a gold mining area and you dig to find gold. In the Akan language, we use the word "efie asi" to denote prison, which means "underneath a house", which also best describes a dungeon. "Aban koko mu" (the heart or bosom of the government) is also used to denote, prison, which also best describes a dungeon. These dungeons were at best prisons which housed nothing but prisoners and I doubt they were built by the Europeans, probably by the Afrikan rulers in Europe (unless people do not believe that Afrikans once ruled the world). So much indoctrination to unlearn.

What is there to prove that Elmina castle was built by Europeans and the Portuguese? There is no proof of this. Castles are littered all over Europe, none of these, however, are considered "slave castles" yet in Ghana these castles are considered, slave castles. Who builds castles simply to house slaves? If slaves were taken from castles in Ghana, which castles were they taken to in the Americas? The narrative of the slave trade is either a lie or has been overly exaggerated. The presence of *ABIBIFO* all over the world is not due to slavery. The sole purpose of the slavery narrative is to stipulate that blacks are in the Americas or Asia because of slavery, which is false since we very much originated everywhere.
