Out of all types that ought to be debating, the ENTP's should be number 1. But nobody objects to my analysis lol. It even has fewer dislikes than my INFJ video.
Carsten T. MacDonald well, this is a masterpiece, I sent your INFJ video to my INFJ friend, your analysis are spot on, whoever disliked it probably sucks turds.
I think this is one of the things we just can't argue. It's just way too obvious that we're morally gray. There aren't too many things that I can't argue against, but this is definitely one. I can argue that I have developed my Fe pretty well, so I use my moral ambiguity to benefit other people. Using my Ne to make other people's lives easier and more comfortable is so satisfying. It's much better than when I was always using it for myself.
@@eggpusher2585 Most ENTP friends I have have found their place in larger groups by assisting others with difficult Ne tasks. I.e. explaining complex things in easy words, coming up with alternative solutions for time-consuming problems and helping people see their full potential. Being 'morally grey' can for a lot of ENTP's be tough, because not everyone speaks that language, or at least take it personally. Supportive environments are very important for ENTP's. Having people to care about can make that grey morality a little more colourful.
@Supreme Ace I would consider myself a "theoretical psychopath" because I often imagine all sorts of evil justifications, yet don't have the heart to pull it off in real life.
As an ENTP, I often perform thought scenarios where I explore bad things, and wonder at my seemingly overall lack of morality. I don't do bad things for three reasons: 1. Rational ethics say that I would not want someone doing bad things to me, so to fully engage in a social contract, I should not do them, 2. I am not meticulous enough to keep from eventually getting caught and paying the price, and 3. I don't want to let the people who love me down or cause them a burden in trying to save me or recover what remains of me. But I completely agree with you, an ENTP is swollen with potential at becoming an empathy-free antihero that acts based on logic, drowning whatever twinge of guilt they may experience in alcohol and adrenaline.
*From an overly stereotipical point of view* , this perfectly describes the ENTJ personality: 1. Social contract is overrated. 2. ENTJs surely are meticulous enough. 3. Being a burden for their loved ones is not a setback for ENTJs. Being Te mains, they do act based on objective logic most of the time, and guilt is not a real bother as it barely exists.
I'm entp but I have the sweetest gf ever and she pretty much keeps me from doing horrible things for my own gain and keeps me human, and I love that about her so much. But i fear the day she leaves me or dies. I'll just be nothing but my wits and money and it can get ugly for people
Great video bro! as an ENTP I always feel that I stand in a gray area of morality and this bring me to a whole new level of viewing my own self and the world, your research truly worth it, you deserve more views and likes. I'm totally amazed by the fact that no one's arguing about it in the comment section, I mean we are claimed as the debater and we ENTPs just relate to this concept right away.
The Ukulele Affair nope, many people and types appreciate highly intelligent people. ENTPs are not appreciating them more than any other type. That being said I’m wondering why I’m being ever so slightly argumentative right now being an ESFP.
@@CarstenTMacDonald Since you portrayed this group as it is, with out sugar coating the truth...it helps to know that i am not alone in the way i feel or act.
Carsten T. MacDonald I find that really fascinating It’s a proof of how accurate this study is. To naturally find myself, an INTJ, attracted to this personality type and reading afterwards that the study actually shows that we get along to begin with it’s indeed a wonderful study
I'm also INTJ and love ENTPs. Makes sense to me if they are our shadow; they've taught me to use what could be considered to be "vices" in a healthy way that makes my behaviour more constructive for myself and, by proxy, others.
I find INTJ personality super interesting. Also, as an ESFP, I can turn into INTJ when I’m feeling insulted and hurt to the core. All the feelings and ( ok I’ll admit it, drama) flies out of window in an instant. It’s not a conscious decision, it just happens. I become cutthroat logic , stone faced brick wall, no feelings involved. Few words but to the point. It caught me by surprise many times because that wasn’t ME at all. I mean come on, I’m an ESFP! But INTJ is my “ subconscious “. And obviously i tap into it when... well.. needed.
I'm ENTP and totally knew that the things we do it's bad sometimes but why get afraid of the bad. It's also an attribute. Like messing with the beliefs of people until they abandon them.
Petar Odak that won’t make them consider their own beliefs. It’ll just make them not like you. I assume you’re young and you’ll learn. But if not so you seriously need to grow up
@@annsmith936 Yes there is a way of debating . You just don't go and call the other person dumb .You persuade them and make them feel like that they are on the same line as you . The most important thing is that you make yourself likeable so that they consider what you have to say . You have to slowly inject your perspective into them and try to understand their perspective as well . Beleive me this is the best way . Never straight up insult your opponent instead try to persuade them . Jordan Peterson use this tactic
I think that the reason no-one is arguing about this is because deep down we know what we could turn into and also we're honest so we wouldn't argue to deny a truth. It seems like you put a lot of effort into this. Great video.
There really is no difference between the two. We are all capable of being both empathetic and cold. Personally empathy hasn't gotten me very far in life, it has actually put me in bad situations. Empathy isn't always a good thing, it can actually be used against us in a lot of ways. Some entp's may prefer it because they feel it's better. It just depends on the person, and really their enviornment. Some ENTP's choose to be more cold and less empathetic. Whatever the reason, it donest make them "good" or "bad". I hate these subtypes like "unhealthy" or "healthy. Its all about perspective...but just because someone chooses to be cold that doesnt make them them bad. It's ALWAYS deeper then that, there is always a reason and more times then not the reason is justifiable.
@@56jasa It's hard to say, but the best thing would be to put a stupidly large amount of effort into finding the thing that challenges you in a way that isn't harmful to others. Like Tony Stark or Sirius Black embody, there is a part of the ENTP that can be more than satisfied with their life as long as it is thrilling and exciting enough. If there is constant growth potential the ENTP won't turn dark any time soon.
Kristína Mitrová Haha I think I would want to be an ENTP too. They’re just so fascinating, their people-skills are through the rough and the few ENTP’s I know personally are so cunning yet cool. I love them so so much. Hope I marry one some day 😄
@@cocob0l0 be careful what you wish for. we entps can show the greatest and unique love to our loved ones but to keep us in line is tiring. like herding cats. but when we finally get to that point of stability you will not be disappointed!
I know it makes a year ago, but it makes totally sense. I am an ENTP and I always loved anti heros or tricky characters (and hated the main characters, all that bullshit about hope, friendship and how the powers of our hearts are strong is just so annoying). At the same time I always avoid to really do bad things and being mean, just because of the people that I care about and my social "image". Even so, I am always thinking about the perfect answers and judging everyone. Sometimes when I am in a competetion or just really mad I end up being really sarcastic and saying some things means in a joke tone. Thank you for reading, I don't know why you did.
This fits me perfectly as an ENTP. Its nuts how we let the fires of the hardships of life cleanse us and run right towards that maximum gain. Only to stroll right back to comfort, stability, and mediocrity. Some of this can be considered a sickness. Running head first into heartbreak in order to break up the monotony of joy, the plateau we hit, or boredom. We're driven by love, livelihood, success, and pain. I'm still trying to decipher why.
I strongly believe it has to do with the management of large gains. That's why I call it the crumbling of the empire. At some point ENTP's can get to position of power that is unhandleable and enter a state of regression.
As an ENTP I have a personal philosophy that "comfortable" is a swear word. In fact in is in my opinion the worst c-word there is. I'll always be wanting more and just when life gets stagnant, I find myself challenging myself to squeeze just a bit more out of life... Whatever it takes
Some might say our personality type is a Karmic debt. I'm an ENTP woman and if not for my husband and kids I would have ran into the sunset recklessly to explore the world without thinking twice.
Awesome video, i’m curious abt the next one ^^ The thing interesting is that all ENTPs know deep down (for the most ashamed of us) that we are perfectly capable of going down that road. I’ve always said that i wouldn’t kill a human being but it is under the conditions of my actual life, in a other situation i might take the gun an shoot without hesitating. One of the ENTP’s moto is really « never say never » because our morals are based on the one of our environment. And it’s really complicated to explain other types how much our options are open, how we can maybe try to turn a blind eye but never quite close them. And they make themselves extremely noticeable in times of trouble (or worse: boredom)
I think ENTPs are also very honest with themselves and their surrounding. No matter if the facts are hurting the ENTP or the people surrounding them. Many of those anti heroes see the world as it is and not a glamorized version of it and because the truth oftten hurts it perfectly fits the character.
I think it might be due to the gore in the Negan scene. Someone's gut getting cut open might not be suitable for younger audiences. Good to let me know though! I hadn't seen that yet! I will make sure to keep an eye out for this phenomenon in my next video's.
I'm a good person, a kind person. I'll never hurt anything be it a fly, spider, or person if I can help it. But sometime I CAN'T help it. I've always know there was a darkness in me. Given the proper motivations I know I could do some really horrible things and that scares the hell out of me. Still, I doubt I'll ever go too far. Not because I dont want the guilt but because I want people to be happy, I hope to stay that way
as an ENTP who has done illegal things for money I really appreciated the accuracy of this video. However instead of now crumbling around I'm preparing myself and will soon thrive in something new, much more legal ;)
@@CarstenTMacDonald you're welcome. I really like your videos and (no idea if you'd be interested) would (given that I ever come back to making RU-vid videos) love to collaborate with you. I already have an assumption, just trying to see if I was right ;)
@@MBTIMemes I'm an INTJ myself! Collaborating would be cool, but it is already quite a challenge for me to fit this channel in my busy schedule. If you send me a message next time you are going to endeavour something, I'll see if I can find the time! Twitter might be best for that if that is an option for you aswell.
In my darkest periods Ive done hordes of criminal acts. I've stolen, manipulated people, staged domino effects for my own pleasure, and scammed my way through life aswell as talk myself out of anything. This video is the most accurate describtion Ive heard about our poisonous ways. Slightly ego boosting, but yet an awfull truth that we dont actually like. This video gave me chills about my own horrible sides. You just made feel like an awfull person, you actually brought tears to my eyes. Thank you😶
Thanks for creating this. Crazy how accurate this is, there’s moments I started busting out laughing because it’s so true the shit ENTPs do and what makes behave in certain ways
Sometime I think I’m a sociopath. I just pretend to care about other people but I’m just an ENTP. We hate ourselves but we also think we are the best person in the world
Before I retired, I used to hear every so often that about 70% of the people who knew me couldn’t stand my presence and about 30% really enjoyed having me around. Any other ENTP’s have similar experiences? I always used to chalk it up to (in my experience) that roughly equating to the breakdown of human society that had a sense of humor (~ 30%) and those that didn’t (~70%).
ENTPs are awesome. ISTJ here. I know a few of them, they make me feel so good and they dont't judge me for my strangeness, and I guess we can cover each other blindspots wich is always nice. Spending time with each other can make both feel more human because of our Fi and Fe relationship on the child functions. We can connect pretty strongly on the parent function aswell with the Te and Ti, resulting often in pretty interesting conversations. We can aslo help each other develop the inferior function because the other has it very strong on the hero function which is amazing. Pretty weird combo now that i think about it. Cool video👍.
ENTP here, thank you! I also find ISTJs awesome. They are hardworking, meticulous and consistent. They have everything I lack, like patience. I like it that they're reasonable so we can be on the same wavelength. I think we make an awesome combo by compensating our weaknesses with our fortes so they make great partners for us ENTPs. ISTJs make the world go round.
@@revanj3038 Hi, same here :D I got that INFJ boyfriend and it's amaaaazing. Good luck to you finding one! But INTJs are also amazing, one of my best female friends is one. I'm so lucky.
There’s a very interesting analysis from cs Joseph on vice vs virtue of an ENTP. He said that ENTPs are trying to tell the non sugar coated truth to everyone and when they realise the world doesn’t want to hear that, they shift into “ ok then I’ll tell you what you want to hear”. Despite their true self. That’s what can make them deceitful.
Carsten T. MacDonald I’m fascinated with the Joker story and how it evolved from a not very significant ( personality -wise) petty criminal in the comics to the latest movie with Joaquin Phoenix. ( which I haven’t seen yet). There are theories of him being an ENTP in the first place who turned into his demon function of a different type and also him being another MBTI type who turned to worst of ENTP traits. I’m curious about your take on his character.
Another excellent video, looking forward to more in this series. I would be interested in seeing you look at some 'S' types, as I'm generally less familiar with them.
As an Entp-a I feel this hits home. The problem is, most people can't comprehend the lack of empathy/emotions. They try to asociate other people the way they think and feel. We entp's we only try to do what is most rational. Morality and emotions come in later, if at all .
im an ENTP and whenever i saw or read something that 'describe' that personality i always felt that it's not true. but then people around me said otherwise so...
@@CarstenTMacDonald I will definitely watch for it. I really like this from a "study of story writing" position but am slightly afraid it will reinforce the tendency of people to use personality archetypes to justify shortcomings as "that's just how I am". Please don't stop though.
@@daegzy3031 yeah what I hope people see is that there is always an element of choice in these bad parts of the psyche. You don't have to break the rules and leave your moral judgement behind, but because you are naturally more okay with that, it's important you are aware of it so you can prevent it.
@@CarstenTMacDonald after watching your other two videos I can see that you are very opposed to that misuse of MBTI specifically. I think it was just the framing of this video with the "anti-hero's journey" (which again, I love from a story writing position).
Awesome video! As an ENTP, I feel like the only reason why I'm not morally ambiguous is because I'm quite a religious person. Not trying to enforce it or anything, but just having a little hope in the most darkest times does help a lot.
@@vicanjel Funny enough, I come from a school environment where liberalism and atheism was the status quo. That kind of environment would allow anyone to become an atheist if one were to stay there for too long, but it was a different case for me - it made me religious.
@@danyg1400 Thanks for the critique. Generally, I believe that God exists because there are multiple unexplainable theories in the universe that humans have a hard time comprehending. For example, how big is the universe really? We can put numbers to try and give us an estimate, but we'll never truly know because it's too difficult for us to comprehend. There has to be some kind of higher being that made the universe as complex as it is, considering no living being is capable of such a feat - but that's just my opinion.
As an ENTP who has recently recommitted my life to God I can completely relate.. The moral grey areas caused a lot of friction with people around me (especially coming from a religious home) After moving out, I needed something to ground me so I can still get my maximum gains but also generally contribute positively to society
nice video essay, I love the fact of embracing the darkness for we all make bad decisions...it’s called the human experience. obviously having a bad rep shouldn’t make you an immediate bad guy lol
The point about an ENTP ending up in an "Si Nightmare" as their punishment at the end of the story blew my mind. I've seen it play out so many times, but I hadn't connected the dots before. You got yourself an INFJ subscriber.
I wanted to include irene adler, but her representation in Sherlock was too sexual and the others either aren't in any way dark or important enough characters. This is kind of a Hollywood problem.
I’m a girl and I feel ok with the ENTPs representations being male, I feel really connected with them that I forget they are different gender than me haha
Got a sub here. I enjoy the effort that you put into the editing to have the clips original audio complement your narrative. It engages the audience more.
Question: as an ENTP do u guys believe this type is highly prone to stages of insanely high anxiety, depression, followed by a lose of self & reality, then a massive growth & newly found love for live & positivity that u never felt, like a rebirth. I feel like ive been in a constant war with myself until this point. Ive only seen this in 3 others, all ENTPs, and it makes me wonder if it relates to my type & how i see the world. Any thoughts on this?
This was legit me when I was in middle school.I’m guessing it may have to do with us being stuck in our shadow (intj) and we just get fed up with it and become our ego again (entp).
When I saw Machiavelli's picture, I just thought "here it goes again". But when you showed the actual quotes o thought " Holy shit! He's quoting from the discourses, chapter that men are seldom wholly good or wholly bad" So good job, seeing something like that is a real treat.
It's frustrating how I feel and think like an ENTP but behave like an (i don't even know that one, ENFP maybe) with only a few redeeming moments. I don't know if I'm eligible for being an ENTP anymore.:') Hope your channel grows though, the analysis is great, so good luck!

Was never really a believer in astrology or mbti’s mainly because I thought “No one is gonna tell me who I am” or “I define who I am and fuck you for saying otherwise” but after taking the test and it saying I was an ENTP I was skeptical and looked into it and holy shit I feel like I can relate to at least 90% of what entps are presented to be
My boyfriend is a ENTP, I'm a INFP. No other personality type could see right throuch me as fast and as acurate as him. It feels great not having to explain everything for once. He finishes my sentenses, makes phone calls that make me uncomfortable and he introduces me (because I hate introducing myself).
I was skeptical and disappointed at first, then he gave the example of overcoming evil or going through hell and coming back and helping others around after you get back.
Glad you stayed for the end! Thank you for sharing this. Is there anything you found especially disappointing? I'd love to hear it so I can do something about it next time.
This is so accurate, sometimes I think people think I'm a sociopath. When people talk about how bad their lives are or how something bad happened, we laugh! We just laugh. We can cry alone, but in front of others, we laugh and play strong.
I’m not the only one who doesn’t see this as much of a bad thing, am I? I mean just think of the power one obtains by not being held back by any moral constraints. Especially the ones placed on each persons back that are really only backed by some ‘golden rule.’ If we’re to follow the golden rule, doesn’t that mean one IS allowed to do all that has been done to them to others?
No the golden rule states that you do to others what you want done to yourself. If you want to be manipulated mistreated and your emotions disregarded then, yes. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but from a utalitarian standpoint it wouldn't make the world a better place if everyone kept doing what a 'dark' ENTP does.
@@hekikoka5792 Well according to the bible, God is the authority. But if you do not believe in God there is nobody that has the authority to tell you that you can't break, change or thinker with that idea.
zain The problem with what you’re saying is that you don’t truly know if I am. You’re going off of what you “see.” I’m merely presenting another side to the idea. Because everything is possible 🙂
Though I am an INTJ myself, I'm waiting with that one to keep up the diversity in uploads. Next is the ISFJ, after that... Who knows! But I can promise you I will make a video about the INTJ soon enough!
Great analysis, but add Fe factor also . As Jimmy wanted to be loved by his brother, but he didn't get that . That's the biggest turn off for entp . He rejects Fe and rely on Ti . And Ti can morally grey . 🙃. I heve never seen seen interpretation as yours. Please make it on intj mastermind too.
As an ENTP I feel other people use morality to control others for example if a vegetarian came up to me and tried to call me a murderer for eating animals then I’d say “fair enough then I actually wouldn’t mind breaking the animals neck and still eating it since I’m okay with eating meat.”
Yes this 'worst you make me out to be' mentality is often used by ENTP's to outplay the other person. To make their opponent suffer through their own actions. Sometimes this not as grounded as it is.
My response would be " what makes you think plants deserve to be murdered, you vegetarians go around murdering plants, pulling them from the root, eating their offspring, etc ...go play in traffic "
This was an interesting presentation on the negative aspects of the ENTP. Open minded to a fault, charismatic/persuasive, and always pushing the envelope. Upon contemplation I believe the first man was an INFJ and Eve- I have no doubt that she was an ENTP.
I think this is pretty accurate, but as and ENTP that's very close to ENFP, I'm actually quite emotional, but I still can't show a lot of empathy for other people's emotions. It's kinda cruel; I want people to be my emotional support sometimes, but most of the time I can't be the same for them
I think its because heros tend to win more often than not, and we kinda hate losing, so we just stay in line because its what will help us "win", or maybe i am just a little too morally gray
@@adolfomancia8845 Yeah. I personally don’t see myself doing anything too crazy because it runs a high risk of me not coming out on top. I definitely like to win, but I prefer to be more subtle if I need to get past an obstacle. I usually try to outsmart my opponents rather than do something illegal or highly immoral that would give them the ability to use that against me to prevent me from reaching my goals.
Excellent video, very well done, I was wondering if you could do a one on intp if possible, I don't recall ever seeing an intp as an antihero, to be honest I'm curious if they can even be portrayed as one, only thing that comes to, when I think about an intp antihero is a crazy scientist with no morals
Sherlock from the BBC Sherlock series is considered an INTP by most and he isn't the nicest. I'll do an S type next episode because INTP's and ENTP's share a lot of functions in a similar order and I have had a lot of requests for S types. But I will definitely keep you updated!
Pls do one on INTPs. I've always felt that there's always been something a bit dark lurking inside me. I've always been ruthlessly ambitious (yes, I also procrastinate and struggle with focus). I'd love to get to know more about this side of me.
Im ENTP we are not good we are not bad we just play the rule of our own and hate to obeying others rules if we find them against ourselves or Un logically or unnecessary.
I don't particularly appreciate ENTPs being regarded as the antagonist or the supervillain. It is indeed oddly satisfying to share the same personality with a keen character on the screen, but this may lead to misunderstandings or misinterpretations of the ENTP personality type. Despite so, I couldn't give more than a fuck when people call me an anti-social sociopath just because of the way I am, just want to put this out there. It is very foolish of people to believe all ENTPs are the same as ENTP fictional characters since it will not be a good idea to judge an ENTP with a stereotypical mind (we are also nicknamed stereotype obliterators, lol).
There was a lot of debate between whether Machiavelli was an ENTP or INTJ, but never INTP. In the end both of those introverted options were refuted because they lacked two dimensional Fe. Machiavelli talks about exploiting social interaction and that is too hard for INTP's to come up with with their one dimensional Fe. Glad you enjoyed the video though! It means a lot to me that it made your day, it makes all the effort I put into it worthwhile.
@@CarstenTMacDonald Man, i made a typo. I was talking about Intj for sure. But anyway thanx a lot for you quick reply. Keep on doing great informative videos ;)
There’s no way Machiavelli was an INTP or INTJ. Those types lack an interest in social norms and interactions general ( it’s a foreign territory for them) and they would never ever write books and advise people on that.
Oh well, 3 weeks ago my empire crumbled (my two best friends started ghosting me and idk what of wrong things I did caused it), but I kinda already moved on and caught on with old friends lmao
While you're right about the ENTP being a great antihero CHARACTER, in real life, what examples can you provide? We're usually nerds and slackers who think and talk a lot about the subjectivity of socially structured morality, I don't see it as common place for real people to act like this. I relate very closely to all these characters, but because I value freedom and keeping my options open, and because prison would be a fate worse than death, I keep myself from doing the fucked up shit I imagine doing. My brothers are ENTPs as well and I've dated a female version. Maybe these characters are who we are deep down, they resonate with our deepest darkest desires, but these characters live in a much more forgiving world than the real one which we reside, and that keeps many of us from going to the dark side. Our intuition puts us in our heads and reminds us of the risks. But if you want some real world crazy mother fuckers, look no further than the ESTP. They're not smart enough to say "no" to their evil inclination. And while they lack our cleverness and creativity, they're not held back like we are.
the freedom found in idiocy is admirable yet repulsive. ignorance is happiness, but are we willing to stoop that low, intellectually, to experience some pleasure? our desires to even present that thought kind of block us off from doing anything. if we didn't think about how great it would feel, we'd be doing. :/
The pirate stereotype is basically a ENTP picture and besides, most of the famous pirates were all ENTP's, like Calico Jack and Black Bart, so yeah, we can be some pretty bad motherf*ckers
Yes, besides if people wrote about it you can estimate personality types. It is not as if we can't have any idea about what Julius Ceasar was like because we don't have Vice interviews with him. People wrote about him in many different contexts and even if those were not accurate or exaggerated, the 'character' of Julius Ceasar will still remain the same, even though it might contain fictional aspects.
First time viewer here, great work! I've taken MBTI scores a few times, and each time I get ENTJ or ENTP, I fall on the ENTJ-A (Assertive) category moreso. It would be interesting to see a full breakdown of that personality type.
It was your video on the dark side of INFJs that drew me over (you had me at Hitler). I found it a well-researched, logical, and articulate piece of storytelling, which had me musing and doing additional research into this type. And no, I’m not an INFJ. :) But I admit that it’s this one on ENTPs that gave me the chills all throughout. And I am one who admires Machiavelli for his cool-headed, no holds barred analysis in “Il Principe”. I look forward to see what you’ll do for ENTJs; after all, we’re only one letter apart, some might argue. ;)
As an ENTP I disagree with the video (I'm suprised more people don't). I'm someone who is actually very high in empathy so I don't need a loved one to keep me from being bad. I feel like I just got sucker punched in the stomach everytime I realise I am responsable for someone's hurt. Not saying this can't happen, just saying that the video talks about it like we are just bad dogs on a leach.
