The interviewee spoke like a typical Bay Area desi person. High on opinions, everything revolves around business and money. There are plenty of places in the US that are chilled out and where Indians are thriving.

As a 50Year old, When you dont have a peaceful life, it doesnt matter whereever you live -India,Pakisthan,US,Europe,Canada,Mars,Moon etc In my opinion,live where you like in this world. Earn money,travel alone, understand other cultures, try different cuisines,learn from mistakes,do something simple who you love.

Almost 5 Million Indian live in US. (and given a chance, another 5 million will jump at drop of the hat to move to US) Dark reality of US is still less darker than Dark reality of India and its never ending struggle.

As an older Indian woman 55yrs old living in the USA since the last 14 year my experience living in the USA has been very positive. The left coasts are vastly different from the rest of the country. USA is a great country and life is what you make it.

I’m from the US, and I chose to leave to live in India for about 10 years (in an Ashram). And, respectfully, I would like to say that there are many more differences between India, and the US than are mentioned in this discussion, which seems to focus on business/entrepreneurship. In the US we don’t have the history and depth of spirituality that you will find in India. Our oldest buildings are only a few hundreds of years old. There’s no such thing as yatra (pilgrimage) in the US. We don’t take trips to different parts of the US to visit amazing places of spiritual importance. It’s easy to drive for miles and miles in your own city, and never pass a place of worship. Finding a temple or a mosque is even more rare… the vibrations are completely different. And, there is more depression in the US. Be aware of the modern culture. Period.

As an Indian living in the US, I'd like to add one more important point. The Healthcare system in the US is totally screwed. It's an insurance-aided commercialized business. Not only are the Healthcare costs exorbitant and beyond the reach of most common people, it is more uncaring than caring. I myself (well-earning tech) can't find a doctor to get a cough cured - they just tell me to find another place or PCP without even a referral, we can get an appointment 6 months later, etc. They charge you $200 visit -fee for literally just asking you to go get a chest-ray (not kidding). Doctors just tell you the same thing that you read yourself on Google (except specialists like dentist or optometrist, etc.). For the first time, I feel this is way worse than India. In India, we have an acute shortage of doctors and medical supplies, but an average general physician still does more for the patient than their US counterpart.

As an American I’ll say he’s wrong when he says one place in the United States is the same as another, living in NYC is completely different then living in Vermont, as it is to living in Hawaii.

I can very confidently say after watching this 14 mins , these guys don’t know what they are talking about !!

I dont know from what perspective Ranveer said that Saudi and Dubai are better for Indians, I beg to differ. The socio-cultural fabric of gulf countries are tough, even for Indian Muslims. I have a Muslim friend in India who hates being married off to a guy working in Saudi as it curbs her freedom by leaps and bounds compared to her life in India. Suppose an Indian guy goes to these countries, even if he is married in his 20s, its going to be very difficult for his spouse to find a job and even if she does, the general attitude towards women is way more regressive than what it is in India. Saying this out of personal experiences. Would never consider gulf, even if the pay cheque is hefty and opportunities are unlimited.

Not completely true.. there is a lot of corporate politics even in Bay Area and NY. Just hard work alone won’t get you anywhere. You need to be good at schmoozing.

I live in Manhattan as a successful Indian, and I can tell you that the US is still the place to be. Do not conflate political instability with innovation or where the money is. The big money decision makers and power brokers are still here. This trend of sh*tting on the US needs a reality check. Every other consumer product that people in the world use is owned by a Private Equity firm that my peers work at. All the "development" in India is due to government bonds that are purchased by large hedge funds HERE in the US. I can keep going on, but India is far ways ahead of being where it thinks it already is. I make multiple trips to India every year so I have a balanced perspective and fwiw I am very long India. The US is the best place to be in the world if you have money, and the worst if you don't (mostly because money can compensate for social loneliness and healthy family dynamics to some extent). If you're not ambitious, driven or can't make the most of the capitalist machine that the US is, leave.

One other key issue America is facing now a days is heavy influx of illegal migrants. Policies and approaches to immigration remain a contested topic, with discussions surrounding border security, pathways to citizenship, and treatment of undocumented immigrants.

Ranveer, with all due respect, I think you should speak to some Americans on the show about these issues. America is a huge place, it's vastly culturally different depending on the region. A lot of the things you hear about on Rogan are completely blown out of proportion and manufactured talking points engineered to ignite the culture war and manipulate voting blocks. As an American, the scariest thing about living here is the gun violence (depends on region), the fentynal/tranc crisis, the extreme class divide, and the healthcare system.

I've been following the effects of Woke culture not just in US but also in UK & Canada. Listen to Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, Douglas Murray and Jordan Peterson. Seeing Indian youth wave pride flags in parades with them not knowing what it represents is difficult to watch

If you are planning on moving from India to the USA, you're making a foolish decision. The high crime rate, steep taxes, inflation, woke schools, exorbitant medical costs, excessive processed foods, and tap water contaminated with forever chemicals are just a few reasons why. India is safer. Having lived in the US for 25 years, I strongly advise the younger generation to remain at home. Stay in India, stay close to family, and relish life. There's nothing quite like being in your home country.

This was very narrow perspective representing less than .1% of the population of India and US. IT jobs are on a decline in India and within 5 years manufacturing sector like semiconductor, EV, green energy etc will pick up.

One of the biggest things missed in this episode is, green card backlog faced by indians in USA. it will take upwards of 70 years to get an Indian a greencard. Without green card yiu are stuck going from a job to job and if yiu are ever out of job yiu are expected to leave the USA.

For context, I’m a South African Australian American - South African + Aussie dual citizen, US PR/GC holder - of Indian origin i.e., I am an Overseas Indian Citizen (OCI) - I lived most of my life in Australia before permanently moving to the US. My wife is an Indian citizen, an Australian PR and a US PR/GC holder who lived most of her life in the UAE. Ranveer-ji, I think you should hear this from an Aussie who has seen at least some of the world - the ‘awesome’ life in Australia that you talk about is mostly an illusion. 65% of Aussies have their wealth tied up in their third rate houses and 95% of Aussies are in massive private debt - be it credit card bills, home loans, personal loans or illiquid investments. Free medical care in Australia is a myth with most people not understanding what Medicare covers and what it doesn’t. Freedom is a rare thing in Australia with the Australian Government playing dumb when Muslims took over the Sydney Opera House last December, or when Khalistani terrorists violently assaulted Aussies of Indian origin. Pakistani and Lebanese rape squads have been prevalent in Australia for decades now. State Premiers and ministers are constantly in the news for corruption and nothing is ever done. Politicians even use the police to target their enemies. Australian police in all states are heavily corrupt and next to useless in general. The cost of living and housing affordability in Australia is another horror story - for instance, I was making over Au$200,000/yr and my wife was making around Au$100,000/yr in regional NSW - we couldn’t see how we would buy a house and bring up our children in Australia. The woke agenda of the US is a problem in Australia and the UK as well - but in typical Aussie stubbornness, no Aussie will talk about it or even admit it is an issue. As another example, a good mate of mine who is a born and bred Aussie coaches senior executives is a best selling author and his wife is a corporate coach who is also a bestselling author. Together their income is over Au$250,000-300,000/yr and yet they moved out of Sydney because it was too costly - now living in Brisbane he still borrows his mother’s 20 year old Honda Civic to take his baby girl out because it is unaffordable for him to have his own car. Australia is an economic basket case where Indians working on H1B visas in the US rush into because they get security in the form of PRs quicker (3-5years) than they would in the USA (20+ years). Most of the Indians moving back to India from the US are still on H1B visas or L1 visas without the guarantee of a USA PR/green card - so it is an easy decision for them to move to India where salaries are now globally competitive. The US still is a first class economy with top notch schooling for those who are PRs (GC holders) or citizens. The opportunities in the US are way higher than in most other countries - I am aware first hand about the opportunities in India, Singapore and the UAE as well because I received offers from all those countries and interviewed for some roles as well. If someone is a Canadian or Australian citizen, then working remotely from a small city in India is much more lucrative with a _low opportunity cost_ of leaving Canada or Australia: that person’s Canadian or Aussie passport is worth more than the quality of life in both those countries - ditto for NZ as well. Not so with the US - the opportunity cost of leaving - for PRs and citizens anyway - is _much_ higher. Also overall Americans are friendlier than either Canadians or Aussies. I hope my narrative paints a clearer picture for you and your audience. Now, I have a question for your guest - where in the US is “Beyria” 🤔 just kidding …I’ve lived in San Francisco’s Bay Area although I wouldn’t want to live there long term.

American people are not hesitant to speak openly and honestly about anything. Maybe Caucasian people. Native American and black people. Mexican ect are extremely vocal and aren't afraid to speak openly. Strange comments about American citizens that are not how it really is here. Not at all.

I'm from South America, I find the US depressing due to classism but my understanding is that Inidia is the same way, your value comes from "who you are," meaning your job tittle, and/or your socioeconomic status. I come from a beautiful culture, where your value is not correlated to your status.

If you are driven and hard worker you can make it in US no matter what city you live in. Because infrastructure is same everywhere in US which this guest defined as gas stoves 🤣

Well I live in California. I have stayed on east coast and midwest as well. To be honest i was much more comfortable in midwest as people had at least some family values there. People were friendly and happy. And once they knew you they even treated you as family. Coming back to California, i find people here are extremely money oriented. Even if they have millions , they still are unhappy and have false sense of superiority attached to net worth and name and status of the position and company they are working for. I genuinely feel desis here are going through identity crisis.

Venky's views of America is HIS views need not be shared by other Indians in America. His views can be related to but not all are comprehensive (correlation in SOME instances is not finality). Confining and integrating to american society is a dynamic fear of many opinions which need to be explored to customized acceptance.

6:51 This is across north america and much more in canada. I seriously have no clue what to talk about with my white colleagues. I am almost avoiding small talk and keeping it professional. Just a month ago at the office coffee machine this topic came up and I was just mentioning how homelessness is growing in downtown and my colleagues instead of giving their opinion or agreement/disagreement were instead like "oh you feel so?, you think so?" with a plain face followed by a long awkward silence like they are really scared to talk about it and another colleague sidetracks the discussion. It feels so awkward. This wasn't the case a decade ago. Everybody used to be chilled and spoke their mind.

We are parents of 2 children living in SFO & Chicago. I have visited them 7 times during last 10 years. The major worry is the Health insurance for aged parents and the health scenario is a mafia system . Even young with insurance suffer from insecurity over health. Every thing is ok till some ailment hits. Barring the creamy layer the education system too is a nightmare with very high fees esp the students is outside the state and aspire for good universities. I suggest you do more such interviews from USA, UK and Europe .

I live in US and what Ranveer says and put his own perspective is somewhat seems to be a far from ground realities. India is great but US is different , its more of choice what you want . How many non-indian people going to india for same perspective. only judge the place when you live dnt just on basis of few trips and frnd input.

This guest is certainly entitled to his opinion, but please know this is actually not accurate. First off, "Wokeness" being taught in American schools is not true. A lot of states (the majority of states in the US) are moderate to conservative, so although curriculums do vary from one region to another, this is not part of the national curriculum - so the guest sounding the alarm on this is a waste of interview. Second, you cannot just go into a hospital and ask for a transition as a child. I think Ranveer's bros need to be checked on this, because you need parental consent, not to mention money. The US Healthcare system is extremely expensive. Here are the real dark realities that probably should have been discussed in more detail: 1. Inaction on gun and assault weapons - we are the only major developed country with this problem 2. High costs of healthcare 3. Immigration 4. Large divide between rich and lower income and systemic policies that encourage the continuation of this trend 5. Extremism of all kinds infiltrating government and parts of the country I will say that the US is far far advanced than MOST countries - yes, even countries in Asia, but we certainly have our issues and problems. I think what keeps the US back from certain upgrades is the political will.

As a person who has lived in the South Bay Area (Silicon Valley) in California for 33+ years, I would like to point out the misconceptions in this video. People don't move back to India because of the schools. Yes, "Public Schools" (i.e. Govenment Schools in Indian context) in California is terrible, you cannot compare it to our KVs or to even SOME Govt Aided Schools in Tamil Nadu (my state). But Private schools are awesome. The Challenger Schools and Stratford Schools in the Bay Area are affordable and are non-denominational. There are also some Catholic and Jesuit schools who admit non christians and these schools are also very good. In Public schools you pay nothing and even books are provided free of cost, but in Commiefornia, the parents lose control as discussed in this video. People MOVE BACK to India because of the uncertainity of Green Card. It takes about 25+ years based on the current dates now. In this 25+ years (H1B) in most companies including the FAANG, treat you like a virtual slave, pay you much less and there is job discrimination (no or delayed promotions, dumping of mundane work etc.) albeit not explicitly. And there is always the threat of firings and layoffs. If fired or laid off, you need to get out of the country in a couple of months. The savings potential in the Bay Area is much higher than in India. Period. A Husband Wife pair making $200K, can after tax, save about $80K if they live frugally, this is about INR 65 lakhs+ Plus the savigs in the USD is better than INR in long term.

Uninformed and misleading statement about a child's right with context to gender identity/sexual orientation and access to options. Kids cant "just walk in to a hospital and get a surgery". An individual can get harmone replacement therapy -HRT across the US on their own if 18+, or with a parent’s consent if under 18. India technically does not have a full fleged right. Modi has promoted more welfare than any other Socialist party in Bharat. The only difference is that, Modi has made sure that welfare reaches people through DBT. If you are very family person and if you are not in technology and if you are not highly creative and if you miss all India culture , food , people, there is nothing for you in USA. You will be much more happy in India. ( But , if you are single and highly technology guy/girl and have big dream and big ambitions , you can try USA. But India is also now coming up and offering similar opportunities) USA has many good things and many not so good things to offer.

Regarding salary part, not everyone will get 50lak and up per annum in India. But in USA all get standard salary which is pretty good and with all benefits, even retirement Benefits are good , Please don’t compare with few top people in India.

@TRS Clips: Interviewing this guy is like talking to the blind guy who thought an elephant was just its tail. Would suggest also ask several other demographics to understand the whole idea of why they go to America and if indeed it is a “Dark Place”… I do not know how Joe Rogan became mainstream in India, he is an alarmist here 😂 It is true several people find it hard to immerse in the local culture due to them growing up insulated in India. Guns and drugs are a problem for sure but there are several organizations that are fighting and working hard to address those and other issues. That is currently one of the pros about America, everyone has a way to voice their opinions and bring about change if they put in the right effort and volunteer, maybe against guns and drugs. We need to still work on that in India. It is still possible in India but it requires all Indians to be involved. Most of us living in a city, say, Mumbai, have an opinion about Kashmir to which we may not even be related, but will not even want to have an opinion about the low cost housing next door being razed to ground, rendering many poor people homeless, to build a huge mall or commercial complex or apartments. Similarly, Indians in the Bay Area lead a very insular life. They try very hard to not get involved in the local communities and volunteering, and only surround themselves with Indians, which leads to a lot of misconceptions within those groups sadly. About Elon Musk, IMO if he was worried about his kid changing gender, he should consider spending more time with his ~10 kids to understand why they went through the choices that they did. Plus, you should listen to Elon Musk’s first and other wives to hear how they were mistreated by him. Listening to Elon Musk alone is again like listening to one blind guy about the elephant’s tail alone. He was once a great entrepreneur but once you begin to worship yourself, there’s a lot you lose as you don’t consider the fact that there are multiple great ideas to life… About this interviewee, if I was someone who gets appalled at the Indian Supreme court’s decision at banning LGBTQ+ relationships in India, but also get offended about gender self-identification which they call “woke” culture in the USA, I would give pause and think about that contradiction within myself. Plus, please cross verify what he says as facts. A 10-year old cannot get surgery without parental consent anywhere. It is illegal. How can you present something without reading/experiencing/seeing it actually? What is woke culture now, was actually even Indian philosophy which many Indians themselves have not bothered studying much about - read Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Oriya, Hindi, Marathi, Sufi etc literature from all of our pasts, then you will see all of these facets being already discussed in those. But literature study in India has been derided and undermined for a long time, and Indians flock to read the distillations from self-help books as though they are novel concepts. We also need to understand that the majority of the Bay Area Indian Immigrants are professional workers. Not career artists, philosophers or writers or litterateurs or really from other professions, so, this is really a very synthetically curated crowd of Indians whose perspectives are majorly associated with practical pursuits. When their children get exposed to other professions and explore those, they can feel insecure and unstable.

These guys are right. I am an Indian American and have been i n the US for decades. Its very expensive to live in the US even with a high income. Also you have none of the benefits you can get compared to all the help you can get in India from your family, extended family, and hire help. Practically none of that you will find in the US. I am not in liberty to say this, but I think this is right. Go to abroad, study, earn, but don't forget your roots. Educate your kids there, but bring them to India often. If possible do commerce in both countries and try making opportunities. Although I am depressed in the USA and miss India badly there is more opportunity in America. But I am planning on making opportunities back in India as well for people. Take Sridhar Vembhu for example.

After being in us for 20 years, the biggest issue is money Indian families here. They save to buy houses , education, travel and support their parents ..but forget to learn how to connect to American education, culture, society and schools . I wholeheartedly concur. India is a better place to live than the US. Almost all types of services are available in India rather than elsewhere. I moved to the US to settle down, but I only stayed for ten months before coming back to India. Even if India is among the greatest places in the world to live, I don't understand why Indians need to settle in other nations. Cities like Gurgaon, Noida, Delhi, Mumbai, Banglore, Hyderabad, and several Tier 2 cities are among the many that are steadily expanding.

Louis Durmont had said ** Indian civilization, is a specific ideology whose components are in a binary opposition to that of West: 1. modern against traditional, 2. holism against individualism, 3. hierarchy against equality, 4. purity against pollution, 5. status against power etc.

God ranveer has such bad,un insightful questions. The only good thing about this podcast is the guest list and the only bad thing is the host. Why doesn’t he read feedback and improve.

The situation in US now is quite different from what it used to be a decade ago. The cost of living crisis, reduced student stipends, reduced off-campus jobs, skyrocketing rental prices, dwindling job opportunities. I'm not even talking about the gun violence, homelessness, drugs, wokism and racism issues.

The moving back to India is more with a Tech Sector they have the opportunity to be global, you don't see that with any other sector, Doctors, lawyers, retail business or real estate, they are good here...Immigrants into 3rd generations now live with no fear...the fear is only with who moved in past 10 to 15 years and fear they cant control their kids. The grass is always green on the other side.

All the candidates who are graduating have no clue about the technology. They just get the degree start their job search without any experience. And they manage to get the job by back door by offering the money to the particular vendor and get the jobs for only 10k-20k per month. Due to this the experienced candidates can’t negotiate the rate with the client that they have to get according to their experience and technologies they have. Many the present generation and graduates from last 2015 to till know have totally messed up whole system & environment and it is still continued………. Nothing is easy in life. Living in different countries is an enriching experience. Live where there is acceptance and freedom. Each person has their own journey. Good and bad are very subjective and relative.

Nothing beats the affordibility of USA, the amount of fun stuff you can buy in US in India you can't get even close, to buy a good car you have to bribe Govt 50% money or to export 100% duty.... and product quality is among the poorest..

America have no rich cultural prosperities like India.

1) Healthcare costs are going up in India like crazy and you are wading thru a massive crowd and spending tons of Indian money if you end up in a private hospital (especially if you spend out of pocket). 2) Your kids in India are in an intense competition with other kids - private schools charge exorbitantly, and in addition to fee have all kinds of regular costs, plus your kids are in a massive rat for very limited opportunities, be it civil services, private jobs, college entrances and so on. 3) There is a lot of unemployment and civil fault lines on region, language, religion caste etc across India that may amount to nothing, but are still a future risk. 4) Dealing with govt services and bureaucracy is still very complicated. 5) Traffic 6) Corruption at all levels. Main problem with India is competition and crowds everywhere.

Ranveer sometimes over complicates his own perspective by his way of generalization. Talking to a handful friends from the world isn't the right proxy to influence your perspective. I'd say visit these countries, spend time there, talk to non Indians and Indians and you'll realize there are pros and cons to living anywhere and there are problems everywhere.

Only seeing with the lens of IT jobs and concluding US and India are almost same pay wise is not correct. Most high paying tech jobs in india if not all are outsourced from US! Also, life is amazing in US outside of CA and NY. Most people will not open their own startups and will work jobs, speak for those as well. His opinions are only valid for someone with multimillion $ net worth individuals, not the masses. US has benefits Social security at retirement, free medical after age 65, clean air water and food (yes try buying that with money), fun to drive amazing cars on amazing roads, road trips, nature, lot of time for family with great work life balance, big house at affordable price, fitness culture (atleast where i live in Wisconsin), you can make money even if you are not a software engineer, ask a plumber or electrician pay in india and in US.

No quarrel: he has own perception/ perspective! But coming to India, we have to change/ improve on various aspects/ counts! Be it arresting endemic corruption, food adulteration, child exploitation, overall environmental pollution/ contamination, reckless use of insecticide/ pesticides/ chemicals etc! See for yourself the health and educational sectors in India! Police system that suffers from colonial hangover! In the USA 🇺🇸 we can’t be either black or white, but we have all the opportunities to unfold our potentialities; yes, merit is celebrated over there! Life is hassle free and it’s plain sailing…. Having said all of the above the truth is no one who lives in U.S wants to return to India 😂the only area which is really pathetic is the healthcare costs and below average doctors and terrible insurance costs…

Midwest USA is the best. All desis like Tesla and Cali. I drive a Chevy in rural Midwest - totally relaxed.
