Masterpiece! Thank you so much! So many Faithful Dark Shadows fans are DISAPPOINTED with Johnny Depp's version of Dark Shadows. Such a disgrace and waste! He (they) did NOT bring respect and honor to Dan Curtis Masterpiece! Hollywood has gone downhill for decades now! Have a nice day and be safe. Love, peace & hope.
Exactly, D.S. was not meant to be funny, Frid never considered it to be campy, the gaffs were charming because they were natural and not intentional. Depp also destroyed Willie Wonka.
Thank you for posting that. I'm really glad you enjoy it. The song really inspired me to do it all those years back, and it's nice to share it with people like you!
Very nicely done musical video. I have always enjoyed the relationship between Barnabas and Dr. Hoffman and felt the two should have ended up together on Dark Shadow's conclusion. The song fit so well with your theme. BRAVO
THIS was EXCELLENT I can't believe this video has been up since 2011 and have never come across it in any of my DS music searches. The chosen scenes fit the music lyrics and timing is spot on. They are all in syn with the lyrics. Loved it. If YOU had to go thru tons of DVDs to find these clips and scenes then that deserves much appreciation. THANKS :)
I have watched this over and over best one yet!!!!! Love Barnabas!!!WE NEED A THREE OR FOUR PART MOVIE THATS NOT A COMEDY!!!!! WITH A REALLY GOOD ENDING FOR Barnabas !!!!!!
Thank you so much! It was a blast to put together back in the day when all I had available for video editing was a primitive editing device using actual VHS tapes. I'm so happy that you enjoyed it.
What a sensational series. I would love to see it complete. Poor Barnabas .... so much suffering .... great Dr. Hoffman. I would like to see it complete in Spanish. Greetings from Chile.
Have to admit I was a little apprehensive about watching this. I’ve always imagined Barnabas and Julia together. But this was perfect, he made such poor choices, but Julia was always there for him, even when he was a creep to her. Love the video ❤️
I agree. Josette was the plan for an arranged marriage for financial purposes between two enterprising families. Angelique was an abusive and carnally motivated mistress. Maggie and Vicky were trophy infatuations, both of whom reminded Barnabas of the lost Josette. Roxanne was a vampiric rebound. JULIA WAS THE ONE. (In the radio sequel "Return to Collinwood", it was revealed that Barnabas and Julia DID get married and joined a spiritual retreat community in Hong Kong.
Wow - great video! This is definitely one of the best made DS fan vids I've seen to date! :-) Of course I've always loved Barnabas Collins / Jonathan Frid, but here, even Survivor's "The Search is Over" and Julia Hoffman was "tolerable" for me. ;-) Lol Next time I hear that song, I'll think of this video and Barnabas in particular! Thank you for sharing!
Williesoke, thank you for this very entertaining video. You've created a scenario that defines perfectly how many of the viewers of the show thought about Barnabas and Julia. If only there had been more time (and desire) to create such a plotline for Jon and Grayson...but I doubt it would have flown in the face of demographics at that time. A real pity. Sam Hall's TV Guide article was some solace...still, it would have been terrific to see Barnabas and Julia's friendship develop into something deeper. I guess the nearest we'll ever get is the "Never Without You" episode in 1995.
I'll put your link in my Facebook. I write with American people, in my country Dark Shadows was in 1972 and 1973 but a little time, enough I fall in love with Barnabas (i was 13 ys. old). Thanks, Silvia, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Jonathan Frid was the only Barnabas Collins, and I was disappointed with the Tim Burton movie, Dark Shadows! For me, Jonathan Frid is the best! Thanks for sharing this! ~Janet in Canada
I wonder if you can make a "Barnabas/Dark Shadows" video featuring the song "Sometimes When We Touch" by Dan Hill. I think that might be a cool idea. I feel sad for Barnabas because he was robbed of his love for Josette andwas cursed to be an immortal vampire. 😢 Honestly, I wish I could wrap my arms around him in a full embrace despite his haunted face and give him the love he yearned for. I would even let him shed tears on my shoulder just to let it all out.
This was my FAVORITE SHOW PERIOD!!! when I was a kid in grade school. Now, I'm watching this on youtube, and I have to say Barnabas gets more tail as a dead guy, than most of the living guys!!! If you look at all of the collages of women on the romantic videos, by the way, I'm looking for a video called Time and Again, and Sentimental by chatroomchi, but can't seem to find them now although I've already seen both before-go figure! Anyway, you get my drift, is it really all that great to be dead? Can't have kids, great birth control, but you can't have sex either, so what are you going to be doing for all eternity, hmmm??? But I am now, was then, and always will be in love with Bramwell/Barnabas Collins. Had all the books, comic books, and game till my kid and older sister "relieved"me of them--seems they're worth some moolah now, capiche? Love Dark Shadows and their cast forever, I mean the ORIGINAL SHOW!!!
I loved House of Dark Shadows movie, it is the best movie of Dark Shadows. I did enjoy Night of Dark Shadows too. But I loved House of Dark Shadows more, I still enjoy watching it.
I don't know about anyone else, but I liked the episodes with Barnabas better than Quentin. Quentin was my least favorite character, along with Dr. Hoffman. Ms. L. Churchill
