I watched these videos and I am a first time Dark Souls gamer, honestly I enjoyed some of the tips and tricks, like first run through New Londo I did go cursed, it was super fun!

would I recommend the guide to a first-comer? Not at all, it's far too obtuse. Would I recommend it to someone who wants to have a goof around? Certainly. Sounds like a funny cheesy time.
