Great explananation vid. After playing Dark Souls I decided to play Demon's Souls, and found getting used to it really easily and finished it quite quickly. After picking up DS 2: SotFS I thought I would be ready, but boy, the changes From Software have made gave me a big ass whooping. Great job on making this video
Also Adaptability will boost your I Frames. I wanna say when you get your agility stat to 97 or 102 your character will start to dodge like Ds1 or Ds3. For sure helped me get the game feeling more fair with its unforgiving hit boxes
Dude, you deserve soooooo much more views on all of your vids. IMO, your DaS guides are one of the best out there. How could I help you making you more popular? Thanks again.
Dude - thanks for this! First time I've seen it laid out coherently. Dark Souls 2 is the first 'Souls' game I've properly got into, and it's 'user-friendliness' compared to previous titles has eased the frustration. It's finally clicked, and I might even go back and retry DS1 and Demon Souls! Thanks again!
Hey, i'm just getting started uploading Dark Souls videos. This guide is the most efficient and proffesional I've ever seen about DS2, straight to the point, no beating the bush. I like that, I've been inspired! Big thumbs up from here.
Awesome! Thank you for the advice. Going from the first dark souls the second is more complex and having someone explain it all is a real help thank you.
thank you so much idk if I wasn't looking hard enough or what but this is the only video that describes these stats this way its exactly what I was looking for
Great Guide! knew within 2 minutes this would be an incredible guide, give me a bit of base knowledge before plunging into the game, thank you for a very informative video!
Thank you so much! DS2 is my first souls game and after a really rough start I'm enjoying the hell out of it now thanks to your video! So good! Also what was the music you used for this video? It's so mesmerizing.
Certainly useful. Having played a lot of DS1, and being a bit at a loss at start with DS2, this certainly tells me that my instinct has been working to satisfactory standards.
Paper Planes Channel Hehe, true, but at least this time it was easier and faster than with DS1. Used to have a high-soul level dex/faith build, but rules have changed a lot in DS2. Going for an early falchion didn't cut it. Now I got balanced dex/str with some int as suppliment, seems to work out well in both pve and pvp, Using a +10 Dark Longsword.
They must have for some seriously stupid reason changed the Equip load points per level because at 20 I was having to do 2 levels for a tiny increase even tho it was already awfully low when alot of stuff I want to try is 30lbs even armor is 30lbs I am glad you can go to 70% and still roll normally
I think you could have sped up that strength based attack power part and not read every single one, at least not at that pace. Good video though, it's helping out a lot on how I want to build my character and you explain everything very well.
Stelios Kontos you're welcome! Boss fights don't typically require a great build. There is usually a few good tactics for different builds to defeat them.
I understand that this is an older video, but I am hoping that you have improved over the years as a lot of this does not feel in depth, but instead wordy, as if to fill a word requirement in an essay.
I tried to upgrade my strength and it does nothing, no blue increase at all, granted it's at 55, it go's up to 56 but no there's no increase in any performance, any idea why?
Thank you for creating this video. I love your content very much. Keep up the good work. I know dark souls 2 came out quite well ago and I pick up the game the day it came out, but I never beat the game due to school and other stuff. I don't know if you will ever read this comment or even reply me, but I have a quick question. What status should I invest in for a strength build and what are some good weapons or armor for this build. Thank you.
+Kevin Huang thanks for the kind comment Kevin. As far as builds go I'm not really one to give much advice on that end. You can plan it out ahead of time by looking at the soft and hard caps of the stats, know about which level you care to be at if you want to play online, and try to decide which weapons you'd like to use along the way and once your character is finished so you can get the maximum out of your character's build.
I would like to know, whats the optimal poise number to resist most strikes that would usually inturrupt your actions? (and by this i mean swings from other swords that arent as giant nor powerful than anything greater than a Ultra greatsword or a [firestorm, scraps of life] spell)
Idk why but on my copy of the game (pc sotfs) it has these up and down arrows next to the stat every time I go to level up. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
Michael Fortin The best thing you can do it know that your first character is all about playing and exploring/learning. Don't worry about mistakes and count on playing the game many times again. It's part of the reason Dark Souls is so popular. The replay value is enormous.
Hello there is one thing i still confused about, which way is more effective, focus on improving on one stat, ex goin vigor to 19 first and then go leveling endurance. Or do it both at the same time. English is not my first language, i hope u understand what i said ✌️
I personally level both of those up early and alternate 1 point at a time for each. I only spend points on attack stats to use a specific weapon and once my other stats are where I want them I invest more in damage
+Paper Planes Channel im playing a knight thats wielding blueemoon greatsword and ulta greatsword and drangleic armor should i put some points in vitality? i have 30 str now i belive
Petar Jovovic only you can answer that question best my friend. You know your needs better than I. Figure out what's causing deaths, lack of stamina to make a final swing or block/dodge? lack of HP to sustain one more hit and deliver the killing blow? unable to move fast enough because of weight issues? deal with these problems by changing gear or improving stats, find your happy place (:
+Paper Planes Channel is there any strength/vitality lvl that i have to have to be able to use my armor to it s fullest potental like you need certain strenght for wielding weapons cus i noticed that peoplw that wield ultra great sword generally have a lighter armor(as you can see im new to the series ds2 is my first ds game)
Simon Glans soft cap means that after this point you have slightly less incentive to invest in that stat. hard cap means there are extremely low returns for investing in that stat. basically guide lines, aim for the soft cap at first. If you still need to invest in that specific stat I wouldn't go beyond the hard cap. This is only relevant if you still need to invest in other stats also.
I've taken knight class and decided I'd want to wield a Rapier, but I don't have the points in dex for it despite leveling it up as often as I can (I'm level 58 and it has not risen from the value 8) what am I doing wrong? Help?
The Third Crusader just what was the problem. For those who encounter the same problem: I clicked the dex arrow (pc version). Found out that you have to use the keyboard to level, not the mouse for some weird reason.
@@BaldAndBearded Thank you i am in my first play through near at the end on path to see vendrick the boss before him has been a pain and the fume knight too do you still play dark souls 2 online?
@@misakienshoiwa7901 I do occasionally on streams. I pretty much only do my gaming during streams these days. Hang out on Twitch sometime, BaldAndBearded there as well
Wait, are you saying that if you don't alternate between leveling endurance and adaptability, you actually get less benefit from the level investment?! Dick move if so.
Break Points: You Two Most Important Stats: Vigour(HP): 19, 49 Endurance(Stamina): 19 Also Pretty Important: Adaptability(Resistances, Estus Speed, Increases iFrames during rolls, shield up faster): 39 The Other Stuff: Vitality(Equip Load): 29, 49, 69 Attunement(Spell Slots): Slots gained at 10 13 16 20 25 30 40 50 60 75 Strength(What Str Weapons You Can Use): Sweet spot for stats is 40 Dex(What Dex Weapons You Can Use): Sweet spot for stats is 40 Int(Your A Wizard Harry): Sweet spot @ 40 Faith(It's how magnets work): Sweet spot @ 40
I just started playing the game 2 months ago so it was all new to me. I'm very high level so I already knew how the stats worked, but I liked that he said attunement also affected rolling and estus drinking. (I knew that from increasing the stats) Other guides miss this, which will lead people that stick to "meta" to make wrong choices. People going for level 838 like me will figure it out from leveling so much, but people staying 120 will miss this type of thing. (because you often have to raise a stat 6-10 times to notice one of the benefits it gives you, like attunement helping your agility, along with adaptability.)
For once, a completely unbiased guide for dark souls 2. Everyone always will make a guide saying how strength and vigor are your best stats and only casters should invest otherwise and adaptability is useless. In actuality, strength only scales better than dex but only deals with base physical damage and does not touch auxiliary offenses. Adaptability is an excelent stat for all types when invested only to certain teir thresholds and is even better when leveled along side attunment and endurance. And finally, hybrids focusing on one main physical stat, with just the requirements to weild your weapon or powerweild, a auxiliary damage type and a school of magic to either buff or complement that damage type is the much more benificial build than a all strength, some dex, max health, heavy armor two hand weapon build. All in all, excellent guide and fair veiw of each stat.
I started ds2 6 days ago and was confused about the stats as they are different from ds1. Thank you for a clear explanation on each of the stats. I liked dex in ds1 so that's what i'm going to do on my first run. Cheers! :D
This is the type of guide Dark Souls players needed. You know. You explained the Best way to level up and then how to level up and when to stop for good builds. Nice job
Thanks man, this video helped me a lot! I just started playing dks2 after finishing the first game, I was about to upgrade vitality when I noticed that it actually raised my equip load rather than HP, thats when I realized that I need to seek more knowledge about this sequel
I really want this game but I have to wait for PC version because I don't want it for console because I prefer PC but while waiting I am gonna watch your videos so I am ready
Thank you so much for this video, also your flawless pronunciation combined with the clean sound contribute a lot to understanding everything. Keep at it man!
Duel wielding only helps strength 1.5x Raising physical defense doesn't help at all. The way damage is calc in this game raising defense doesn't do shit. Either learn to dodge or use a shield instead.
