For a minute I thought this was a "Johnny cash" song I've only seen this movie once and it was in a movie house in 1975 Last night I got too see it again on a cable Movie channel ( April 22 2022) It still a Clasic Sci-Fi movie

As I understand it the lyrics came from someone else, but goes to show how multi talented Carpenter is. Could easily be a "real" song covered by any number of folks. Idk has a Roger Miller-ish tune to it.
