Jesus saves. Period. Believe in this simplicity. "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also *ye are saved*, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4. Stated another way, if you truly believe that Jesus Christ's blood, death, burial and resurrection saves you, you are a saved saint: a child of God. "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." John 6: 37. Jesus will in no way, shape, form, or situation will ever disown one of His children. "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may *know* that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5: 12-3. God doesn't want to leave you guessing about this subject: you can have certainty of your eternal destination. Works are encouraged of us after we have salvation. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12: 1-3. But works are things we ought to do, after salvation, not things that must be done to achieve or keep salvation. Here is a biblical example of a saved person continuing to act egregiously sinful: "It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife." 1 Corinthians 5: 1. We know this man was saved because he is called a saint as Paul addresses the epistle to "Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours". 1 Corinthians 1: 2 and continuing in chapter 5 we read "In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." Essentially this man was a sinful saint, a bad example, and was to be kicked out of that local congregation, but his actions had no bearing on his soul's salvation. Our sin can never overcome God's grace, otherwise Jesus failed as a savior and we are all still destined for hell. "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5: 20-1 John 1: 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." In Greek, Word is Logos, which is the same word we derive Logic from. So lets go through this logically and biblically, starting with a few presuppositions: God is perfect, as is His Son, Jesus Christ, whom is God incarnate. And God cannot fail at His job, since failure is evidence of imperfection. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1: 15). We also know from Ephesians 2: 8-9 that salvation is a gift from God, and Romans 11: 29 says "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." meaning God will not change His mind on this. Jesus is not an ineffectual savior, to say otherwise is heresy. Nor will God take back His promise, as that would make Him a liar, which is blasphemy. Therefore, if someone is saved by Jesus Christ, they are 100% secure in that salvation. Jesus saves. Period. It's mind boggling how people mess that up. Jesus is the savior; not you, not your works, and it certainly isn't legalism, its Jesus.
