CONTENT WARNING for themes of existential horror and some suggestive jokes.
Winona Roll is simply an Ocean Cog living a normal life in West Enstar with her other three friends: Moore Ward, Strike Doubt, and Siri Descent. Something isn't quite right about the world she lives in, though, at least not to us. As she meets up with the locals in the West Enstar Pier and goes about her day as per usual, she unknowingly grows closer to a groundbreaking revelation...

[NOTE: Spoilers below!!] Thanks for deciding to check the comments out too!! Now that you're here, I'll just write down some Editor's Notes: PART 1 - Voicing Considering my voice is naturally a low/mid-range masculine tone, I'd say the hardest voice of all of these to pin down was Winona's. It wasn't SUPER challenging but it did take me a few tries to get satisfied with how she sounded (especially with the mirror room scene >_

PART 2 - Music Choice From the start I knew I wanted to end the arc with Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett's Dimensions, since that song never fails to melt my heart and I thought it'd be a good fit for such a touching scene, not to mention pairing it with Autechre's all end showed the monumental nature of the eruption and how much of an impact it really had on Spinch. The choice to not let the songs fully finish and just go with an echo as it got to the Ferrie landscape was mainly to, again, show the impact of the eruption and to be a nice calmdown after the wave of sound from the eruption (also since it sounds damn beautiful). David Bowie's Warszawa was the next pick, and I figured that it would go really well for the intro considering it's a sorta tense piece but has a sense of simple beauty to it, which definitely fits Winona's monologue in the beginning bits. Tim Hecker's Prism for the mirror room scene I'd say was the best fit of all of these, since I wanted to give it the vibe of enlightenment but still make it feel very tense and almost scary (a necessary truth if you will). I think it reflects how Winona doesn't want to accept what she's seeing and simply passes it off as her mind playing tricks on her instead of what she'll eventually figure out was fully real. All the others were simply staples of my dubs up to this point: downtempo/IDM/ambient classics that I personally love, even if there's reasoning behind those too: all the Pier tracks (and Winona's intro) give the sense of summer/"beach" and I wanted to make sure to encapsulate that feeling by using Boards of Canada for it, plus it helps show Winnie's upbeat nature pretty well. Twoism for Moore I picked because it's a slightly rougher sound but still carries the relaxed vibes of Winona's, and Lowride I chose for Strike because it's a rather moody song (probably due to the slower pace) and I think it fit Strike very well. Siri got Blue Drive mainly due to the fact that the original pick I was thinking of (Bladee - Jaws) would not at all fit with the sound I established before lmao. They ended up getting a very cold ambient piece instead, which fits them pretty well since they're easily the most relaxed of them all (though I had to pitch it down a semitone to tie it in with their Rinflection sounds). The Equator always reminds me of something retro and straight out of the 90s electronic scene (since it's for an old computer shop), but the extra guitars add an element of life to it that's indicative of the people inside it and how it's not just about the tech itself. Ruby was probably the toughest for me to get a song for in the end, since I was originally going to put a song by Charli XCX in it (B2b in particular), but that wouldn't fit the sound I was going for either. I ended up just biting the bullet and going for Polynomial-C, mainly since it's high-energy and high-impact, which fits Ruby and her personality pretty well. Lastly, glass beach's (blood rivers) got the credits since it's just a sweet little ambient piece that I love dearly :3

PART 3 - Sound Effects This will probably be the shortest entry of the bunch as I really just pulled the majority of these sound effects from RU-vid just by looking up what I needed. I will elaborate on the ones I pulled from songs, though! The little sparkle I got from Bladee's WONDERLAND, since that song had the cleanest version of the sparkle that I wanted to use. I would've gotten a different one if I knew where to look, but that worked for what I needed, which was during panels with distinct backgrounds that I wanted to put emphasis on. The little beep when Winona gets the idea to go to the pier was also from Bladee, namely the intro beeps in MIRROR (HYMN) - INTRO. Siri's Rinflection drone and the wash of ambience at the title card are both from Oneohtrix Point Never songs, respectively Along and Submersible. I wanted to make the title card have lots of weight to it, and I wanted to make the Rinflection have an almost ethereal, otherworldly quality to it since it quite literally creates patterns of light stemming from Siri's fur if the official art is anything to go off of. The tone that plays when Winnie enters the mirror room is also from an OPN song, being Still Life. I mainly put that there to show how Winnie was kinda stepping into something she wouldn't be able to just ignore and to magnify its importance in a sense (idk what i'm talking about :sob:) The little voice clips in the intro and beach scene (bookends!!!) have a similar process done to them, but not the same. I threw the intro voice clips through Phasers in Audacity, mainly since I had no clue the Band Pass existed yet, which was what I used for the beach clips (this has been in the making for like the past 2 weeks now lmao). All the intro voice clips appear in the arc itself, but the beach voice clips are actually from previous things I've recorded but haven't uploaded yet: Uni and Doom's are from the Kisswas comic, Barry's is a mix of the Kisswas comic and the scene where he meets all the side patients in V3 (particularly Polly), and Polly's is from the V3 scene I previously mentioned and a later scene where they're chatting with Barry after the gang split off into groups. I also panned them according to who was sitting on the beach in that order, so Polly is panned hard left, Doom is panned 1/3rd left, Uni is panned 1/3rd right, and Barry is panned hard right. remember when i said this was gonna be short LMAO
