Who wins?

Immortal feels professional, the more they evolved the better the riffs forged from deep sophistication , while darkthrone sounds more rock n roll simpler but more attitude, both are amazing but i pick immortal

Darkthrone is the punk rock from the black metal universe. Immortal have a lot more cold melodies which are to my liking.

Darkthrone all the way, they stepped out of the Black Metal trend of constant monotonous blast beats and repetitive guitar licks in order to embrace a wider spectrum of their influences, managing to make insanely catchy material without compromising their integrity or losing any of the excellent riffs. In fact, as Darkthrone got older they got better, I rate the post-'Unholy Trinity' albums over the obvious three with no hesitation - they're just better.

ive tried and tried to like immortal but I just dont. I have most of darkthrones albums on disk

Let me make this clear [to some specific "trve" elitists]: Just because Darkthrone are not playing "trve" black metal anymore doesn't mean they suck now with their current albums. They want to branch out other classic metal genres while still retain that blackened atmosphere within their music. You can't always make stale, repetitive music for a very, very long time that it would get boring afterwards. You have to decide whether to broaden your music more (even if it's gonna lose some of your fans), or end the band early with a nail in the coffin. Of course, you'll end up disagreeing with me which is fine. You'd rather prefer their old black metal stuff which is also fine. No one is forcing you to like the new stuff anyways. For me personally, as long as Darkthrone has blackened music themes within their new albums, then they are worth listening to. Okay back to Darkthrone vs Immortal. Both are good. So they tie equally.

I used to like immortal and not darkthrone, now i rarely listen to immortal and prefer darkthrone way more.

Never liked Darkthrone, but I respect them as musicians. They always was too boring, not catchy and trivial for me. So i choose Immortal, because for me their songs more catchy, sound epic and monumental.

I'm no person to shit on music, but man... every Darkthrone riff apart from Transylvanian Hunger is so painfully bad haha. It's just so uninspired and boring with nothing memorable in it. Immortal stuff was great. Can't even compare these two.
