Yeah, I think Maul kinda felt something for her in the end. She got defiant, almost wrathful and that probably got his interest piqued. I’m sure he’d let her live, maybe even take her in as his own secret apprentice if he hadn’t been watched.

It is said that it is the shock of having a lightsaber plunged into you and the feeling of it burning and cauterizing the wound at the same time is what causes most Jedi and Sith to surrender themselves to the Living Force. Truly strong Jedi and Sith have been able to shrug off wounds like that and lived on to fight another day. Some have even cut their opponents down while still having a lit blade stuck in them.

I know I posted the first post two days ago, but I decided to come back and expand on this a little bit. The reason Qui-Gon died after Darth Maul stabbed him (and this is all just rumor from the Star Wars community), is that he had a terminal disease and was already close to the point of dying anyway. And that when Maul stabbed him, he just let himself go, rather than survive and die at a later date. Never really believed this theory, because it has been stated that a Padawan's bond with their Master is so strong, that they could tell when their Master was sick even when they were light years apart from each other. So, if Qui-Gon was dying, then how did Obi-Wan not sense it through his bond with his Master? Anyway, just thought I would throw that out there as well.

I'm not normally one for nitpicking, but that wasn't his girlfriend. Jedi are forbidden to love. He could have maybe kept hidden feelings for her, but he could never express that love. True that Anakin did it and it's very possible for others to do it, but most Jedi are trained to not love. Anakin was just destined to love to fulfill a prophecy

+SilverAshes Because he had been training his entire life from true Jedi Masters at the peak of the Jedi Order? Compared to Kylo and Rey, one of whom was trained by a Jedi who was never trained in saber fighting and the other who had never trained at all. It makes perfect sense why the battles wouldn't have been good at all.

the question is, if we will see battles like this in Star Wars 9. Without a doubt they are the main base of the movie. If there are no brutal and epic fights like these with the lightsaber you will end up getting bored and the movie will undress in failure. That happened with the last two Star Wars movies.

Maybe there was something there between him and her at the end… I like to think the film makers intended it to seem that way… Maul’s final act of darkness to hold the title of Sith: Show No Mercy. His training is now complete.

My husband and I think that the Jedi in the mask was supposed to be a Keldor like Plo Koon because of how similar they sound. Maybe they couldn't get the costume in time or something. That would also explain his extra stamina. Plo Koon was a BEAST.
