In the latest Darth Vader comic 8 we get to see many things, however one of which is something I've isolated for today's video (CONTEST ATTACHED) where we for the first time get a descriptive visual of what Darth Vader sees when he meditates as a Sith Lord. Does he see Anakin Skywalker? Does he see Padme? Does he see someone or someTHING else?
Who is this monster? What are the bright orbs fluttering around?
Could he bee seeing Snoke? Palpatine?

I feel like the butterflies represent the conflict but each individual one has something good to do with his past and perhaps there are bigger ones that represent his mother or padme, AND I would love a Kylo Ren Crossguard Lightsaber Please!

Here's an anthropologist's take on your question: We've seen some aspects of Star Wars to be inspired by Japanese culture (laser katana, samurai armour, etc.), and I wonder if it's possible the butterflies are also borrowed from here. In most cultures, butterflies symbolize metamorphosis and transformation, which could be applied to to Vader in several ways: they could represent his past, his transformation to the dark, or they could represent the change that is to eventually come, etc. But in Japanese culture, butterflies also symbolize recently departed spirits and their messages, which could represent the 'dead' Anakin trying to commune with Vader. Using the same symbolism, another possibility is that the butterflies are manifestations of other dead Jedi or force-users trying to commune with Vader - whether it's Qui-Gon and co. trying to instil wisdom upon him; or perhaps they are all of the Jedi that Vader has killed in the past, who continue to haunt Vader by Forcing him to question his choices indefinitely (no pun intended). I would love Vader's red sabre if I win! :) Thank for the vid

I think those Butterflies represent Anakin Skywalkers good memories, since everything Darth Vader thinks of to necome hateful and angry when he meditates is connected to good memories. Padmes death is connected to the good memories with her, so that would be a butterfly. I would be glad when I could have the blue lighgsaber, thank you very much.

Yeah I think it is Anakin. They fly above Vader, a high ground if you will. That's why he can't hit them. Vader's lightsaber would be nice.

I just love this picture, such an amazing piece of art. Anyways, like you stated, i also think that butterflies represent a small traces of light side in him, specially because they give so much contrast to image, and the vader himself. Also, what I thought of they could LITERALLY represent - a butterfly effect. Like how single good deed, doesnt matter how small, can make such a big result, even the bad one. Like anakin just wanted and tried o save padme, but ended becoming so dark, and doing horrible things. Or vice versa, when he threw palpatine to save luke. Anyways, i would really like vaders, or blue sword (:

I would be really happy if I got the green Luke lightsaber. Answering to the question, I like to think that Anakin's spirit endures thanks to the already dead people in his live that want what's left of good back ( Like Qui Gon, his Mother and all the already dead Jedi who trusted in him as the chosen one), and I think that they are the butterflies that are trying to reach him through the force and remind him that he is not alone.

That sweet sweet kylo ren saber and i'm reminded of the lilies on Padme's funeral and how the butterflies kinda mirror them as a beacon of hope in a broken man, And literally the dark side of him trying to stomp out the light but just can't do it, its always vaders true conflict. He want's to be the best and greatest sith he can be but just can't get rid of what he truly is

Hey Star Wars Theory! I think that the blue butterflies could be Anakin, OR his eternal love for Padme that never died. I think this is why Anakin saved Luke at the end of Return Of The Jedi because, eventually the butterflies grew so big and powerful in Vader destroying his hate and anger because Luke reminded him of Padme. I would like an Anakin or Darth Vader lightsaber. Whatever is more convenient for you. Thanks -E M

I do love how they flesh out Vader in these canon comics, his life of sadness and pain really comes to life and this makes his redemption in the end so much more meaningful and beautiful than when I was younger. I'm also seeing white and blue butterflies...Memories and feelings of Anakin that remain connected to him sounds most plausible, it connects to his visions of Padme that keep him 'sane'/ tear him apart and the darkness within that tries to destroy these memories... Beautiful picture indeed! And I would love Luke's blue lightsaber ofcourse...

I think the butterflies 🦋 both symbolize the light side of the force and Padme. For some reason I couldn’t shake the way the reminds me of her peaceful state during her funeral. Maybe they serve as reminders to him of the good man she fell for, so they torture the Vader within him, but he is unable to snuff Anakin out completely. It’s also interesting to not that butterflies are indicative of metamorphosis. To me that means Anakin never truly was extinguished, but changed into a form that could survive Vader and one day vanquish him and change fully into Anakin Skywalker. That’s my two cents. Thanks for your videos!! If chosen, I would love Luke’s green light saber!

Luke's iconic blue saber. As for the butterflies , it has to represent the small, tiny portion of light, of good left in the swirling chaos and darkness that is Anakin Skywalker. I think it's Luke, and Leia even though he doesn't find out about Luke's presence in the comics I think until a little later just the mere existence of that innocence in the galaxy has to have a connection straight to Anakin through the force subconsciously. It's was obviously turns him back to the light after all, and the force works in mysterious ways. That connection Anakin has to the light however far away and unknown to him yet, still lingers like a fire fly in the darkness he now calls home. I think it's the force hinting at something, and making Vader question even minutely his choices, down the line that crack in his dark armor grows as the rays of the light start to peer inside into the man that once was called the chosen one. Well that's my take anyway, thanks for all the great content. I look forward to your incredible takes on this great universe everyday! May the force be with you!

This might be one of my favorite images of star wars ever! I was generally a little disturbed by the image as I got a clear cut at how...disorienting, dangerous, and badass Vader's mind is. It was such a darkly beautiful image that captured Vader perfectly.

I DONT think the butterflies represent Anakin's spirit because there are many of them plus Anakin has NEVER been associated with butterflies during his life as a Jedi. NOW journey back to 1999, during Ep I, Qui-Gon Says To Ani that when he learns to quiet his mind he'll be able to hear the midichlorians telling him the Will of the Force....And what happens in this scene....Vader is Meditating....AKA Quieting His Mind!!!. I personally believe, these butterflies are a similar idea/the equivalent of the tree seeds in James Cameron's Avatar; Pure spirits that carry a message or are a sign....Why else would they aggravate Vader so? They may refer to Anakin's Destiny, which conflicts with Vader's views...I think they're the Will of the Force....I originally thought they might represent surviving Jedi but changed my mind considering Dave Filoni & George Lucas revealed they were corrupt with the Dark Side during the end of The Clone Wars meaning they weren't so pure as they'd thought.....Should I against all odds win I would like The Blue Lightsaber please :) - BTW Who else thinks Vader's monster look is inspirited by Marvel's Carnage? :P

I know the speech bubble didn't come from the butterfly, but the speech bubble and one butterfly next to Anakin in that frame makes me feel like it represented that servant. It could be how Anakin senses people in the force which would be nice imagery as he sees others as insects compared to his power?

I think those butterflies 🦋 are obviously the light, the red represents the dark, and the purple lightning in between them represent the conflict within Vader, determining wether he’s fully evil or if he’s still good and pure. I personally think the butterflies are kind of like messengers trying to tell Vader that there’s still hope (Luke and Leia) and that he’ll be free from his pain and suffering once and for all for which Vader tries to throw that hope away and refuses to be saved. I guess if I win I would like Vader’s lightsaber plzz

Ya, I feel the butterflies are part of the light still within him that represent Anakin Skywalker, reason Sidious was always unsure of Vader truly giving all of himself to the DARK SIDE. The thing is, it's the number of butterflies that has my curiosity, ya know? like each one is linked with a different memory that leads him back to Anakin and the LIGHT. Do you feel that when you look at the image and see them floating around him as he meditates? That was the thing I noticed after everything is just how many and him trying to slowly get rid of them with each meditation and more in tuned with the Dark SIDE he got after causing himself more pain and consuming more hatred. (Rey, Luke, Anakin Saber) it's just the most iconic to me. :) Hope you've been well, the video topics are getting better and better each week, I look forward to your thoughts on the comic as a whole. I believe the butterfly’s represent Padme and he tries to reach out to grab what memories of her that remain but fails to do so. But it makes more sense for it to be the remnants of Anikan. Vader’s saber please :D

The butterflies are indeed a metaphor; lingering light shards of a shattered memories, feelings and an identity from a time long gone by, all residing deep within Vader. I imagine these butterflies certainly distract and tempt vader during his meditiation. I'd love a Darth Vader lightsaber I know my little cousin would really like it for Christmas! I believe it's the light side of the force itself, the remains of the path he almost took. When he joined the dark side there were still light force in him. Butterfly's are peaceful and calm insects, like the light side. So them floating around in a hellish space would make sense. That's basically yours with a slight difference but, no point lying about my thoughts for originality purposes. I'll have Luke's ROTJ saber.

Loved the video Star Wars Theory love to binge watch all your star wars videos and love how you cover the new Darth Vader comics. Seeing the videos compelled me to go out and get them myself even though I know the story already just want to have them. Hope i get selected for your saber give away and of coarse i would love to swing around a red Sith saber because the Dark Side of the force is always with me. But then again if there were white sabers like Ahsokas I would snatch those up myself because one cant always be full of hate because balance is the true way of the Force.

Awesome video! I am going with the butterflies represent a form of Palme. Anakin has always existed under Vader, only from his tie to Padme. I think what we see is meditation and the memories of his past. Red light saber!

Hey Star Wars Theory, I also believe that the blue butterflies symbolize the light side of the force that still remains within Anakin; however, rather than the purpose of it being to win anakin back over to the light, it is actually conjured up by vader during meditation to infuriate him and fill him with more rage. The Vader/dark side within anakin wants to extinguish all of the light that remains within him, therefore his mind actually imagines these butterflies of blue eminence in order to trigger more dark energy within. The instance in which Vader used his demon like tentacles to zap the butterflies away proves how the butterflies in truth summon more dark rage within Anakin. Comics and instances like these make Vader and Anakin one of my favorite characters. There is so much to uncover about this truly tormented character (yes im categorizing them as one) and it truly fascinates me and made me fall in love with star wars since a young age. With that being said, if I were to win your giveaway, I would prefer either Vader's red lightsaber or Anakin's blue one. Thanks! Love your content.

Fantastic video as usual. I find it interesting that through his meditation he is trying to extinguish the light represented by the butterflies but is unable after years of being a Sith. He had conflict within him before he knew of Luke's existence. What in particular was his dark vs. light struggle about then? I would love the Anakin/Luke Blue Saber please!

If I win, I would love Vader’s lightsaber. I believe you nailed it with the butterflies representing the light left inside him. I love the symbolism of him trying to snuff them out but being unsuccessful, showing that while part of him wants to truly turn to the dark side, the other probably resents his decision and wants to make things right again.

Luke's Blue Lightsaber! I think yes the color defintely represents the light side still in vader. I think the fact that it is a butterfly means we can follow that symbolism too. Anakin started as a baby a catepillar not very strong but eager to learn. Through his arrogance and mistakes he became a shell of himself in vader. But not fully dying Luke brings out the new anakin when he redeems him in episode 6. Anakin is reborn and is a new person after coming back to the light. Also he dies and we see him being a force ghost and these butterflies look almost ghostly with the color they are.

I think you’re right on the money with the butterflies symbolizing the light still within Vader and how he can never fully remove it. If chosen I’d like Vader or kylos saber. Thanks keep these vids coming

The light side butterfly theory is the most logical in my opinion, however those butterflys could also represent the jedi Anakin killed, still beeing part of the living and cosmic force, trying to push vader a bit back to the light as they can see the conflict within Vader (sry for possible mistakes) Anakins blue lightsaber btw. Cause it has maybe the longest history (from killing younglings to calling for Rey) of all well known star wars objects

I would love to win Anikan’s light saber. The visual depiction in the comic is a great piece I agree, it would be great to see him struggle with his light side more throughout the illustration as he may actually distinguish some of the butterflies or a flash back to when he was first turned how his inner visual of himself transforms from whatever it was into that and seeing the butterflies come to existence as his mental representation of all the light that remains.

I believe that the butterflies represent a calmness within his rage. This however, being necessary also ended up overpowering the raging storms and causing a peace ness within him. This turned Darth Vader back into Anakin Skywalker. Also I would LOVE the Kylo Ren lightsaber pleeease.

Lukes blue saber, and would say the butterflies are more a representation of a desire for peace / tranquility / calm mind. even when he was a jedi he was emotionally distraught, constantly at physical war. as a sith, much more emotionally distraught but not usually torn between conflicting emotions, just self hatred and outwardly projected rage. He became a sith so he would have the power to settle down and keep his wife alive. Even if it meant killing everyone he knew, including the emperor, for love and peace. That's what palpatine could never get out of him, his reasons for embracing the dark side were infact good motivations.

I would have to agree with you about the butterflies. It appears to be his remaining light side and as he meditates, he tries with all his anger and pain to lash out and destroy those parts. But they are fleeting and escape him. It is not directly apart of his body so you don't see his light side for a long time. It's not until Luke brings his light side out of the background that it begins to take hold. I hope I'm not too late for the lightsaber contest. I just found your videos today and have watched about a dozen, eating up all the content. Great work and keep it up. I would have to say Anakin's Blue Lightsaber or Darth Vader's Red Lightsaber. The two original lightsabers that made me fall in love with Star Wars.

Think the butterflies symbolized the light left in him from due to his thoughts of padme. First thing he asks when in his suit was about her and has stuck with him until his death. He never stopped loving her and regretting her death. Also, love your videos man been watching them for a long time now. Definitely best star wars fan theory channel on youtube. If by some tiny chance i'm chosen lol Luke's green saber for sure.

I think that the butterflies are a beauty in the midst of chaos, They gracefully fly while Anakin is tormented by the dark side.. So in short yes it's a representation of the light and former good, They can also stand out from the dark which Anakins knows he didnt, So they fly around and almost torment him......I would also like to win Anakin/Luke's saber. Hiya star wars theory! My theory doesn't completely agree with urs, Butterflies are pure creatures without a large lifespan, this alongside the fact that they are the lighter blue instead of sith red seems to suggest, these butterflies ars a newer form of access to the lighter side of the force which is constantly being created. That is why vaders dark energy can't harm them, as aniken was so attuned to the force, he is able to channel both light and dark force- that was his destiny as the chosen one. The butterflies represent the light access he has to the force never leaving, always being something he has access to and that the darkness can't destroy. Another idea is much like force ghosts, the butterflies represent all his good lighter memories that he can't erase, as much as he tries to distance himself from aniken, he can never forget padme. Anyway, that's my theory for the day! If by any chance u take notice of this in the sea of comments, and have enjoyed my theory , anikens blue lightsaber has always been my favourite ;) Thank you! This may be just a wild guess, but the butterflies might represent the padawans that Anakin killed in the Jedi Temple. They might be there because they still haunt Anakin, trying to turn him back. I'd like Kylo Ren's lightsaber, thanks!

I Think the butterflies symbolyze the Tiny fragments of good and light inside Vader, constantly flying around, trying to reach through the dark web of anger, hate and lies. As the butterflies reaches for an exit they are extinguished and suppressed by the overwhelming dark power that has constantly been building up through years of torment. If I were to win my first ever public event I would love to have a red-bladed lightsaber for my revan cosplay. Cheers
