Hope you enjoy your new bike and get back out ridding again after your course breaks up for the summer , good career choice , you can alway incorporate MTB in your lessons
Nice video, I liked all the little bits like the pedal pins that added the detail to your build That I really like. It is very cool that you're becoming a teacher, what are the prerequisites for that in Scotland?
Its actually more complicated that is seems. So education is devolved in the UK. Scotland does not have the same education system as England & wales or Northern Ireland. That is the same for school and university. For teaching you can either go straight to university after school and study for a B.ed in the subject of your choice or you can do a degree then undertake a PGDE (professional graduate diploma of education). I used to be a researcher (degree and PhD) in the biological field so I qualified to do the PGDE. In this course you spend 18 weeks at university undertaking the theory of teaching/learning and 18 weeks of placement in school where you learn how to do it practically. You are graded on written assignments and two placement observations. No end of year exam but it is just pass or fail. If you want to teach in Scotland you have to undertake an NQT (newly qualified teacher) year. This is a probation year that you have to also pass. If you choose to work abroad you don't have to do this year. We have quite a few Canadians on the course as its one year rather than two at home. This course does not cost me anything but is more competitive than medicine. Hope this answers your question.
