I've come to the conclusion and realized it quite often in my day-to-day experience that those that put the front up of harshness and crashness are often often the kindest. And those that project such a kindly outwardly face are often the cruelest. Daryl is crass and crude, Wild and very early on, quite bigotted, but hes developed and learned and his true nature has always shown through.
@@Taveren world is rough, the truly kind, have to show a hard face. Or they are just taken advantage off. Most learn this young and adopt the style. The heightened empathy makes the vicious nature of the world much worse for them.
It hurts even more if you remember that he was abused, had a horrible childhood. He made a new family, met amazing people like Glenn and Rick who are like brothers to him. Then he lost Glenn, and feels personally responsible. The dudes already been through so much.
The strong ones have a wall in front of them to protect themselves from the pain and suffering of life, but their humanity is what breaks through and shows that they have a heart ❤️.
I feel so bad for Daryl, he is the reason Glenn is dead, and he just lost it, after Abrahams death he lost it and he went after Negan, you can tell he knew it was his fault and he was even starting to cry when he said he’s sorry 😭
@@isoabiii so Negan was another Villain the old group had come upon, Negan had a bat called Lucile with wires and nails on it I think so he made Ricks whole group get on their knees and he would choose 1 person to die and he killed a man named Abraham, after the death of Abraham, Daryl lost his cool and he rushed Negan and punched him but he then gotten overpowered by Negans men, so Negan got angrier and he took his anger out on Glenn because of what Daryl did, Daryl knows it’s his fault why Glenn isn’t there for Maggie and his son and he feels awful about it
Daryl is a good survivor when he is on his own if you see in this season when the commonwealth tested daryl in a duo shoot house with walkers he didn't pass the test he failed because he didn't save his teammate from the walker that attacked him for me i need rick and maybe negan because he is good in Communication with villains daryl is good for you if you are a good fighter so you can save your self in very bad situations because daryl cant watch your six all day
Man was responsible for Beth and she got taken on his watch and then Glenn died because of his actions. Probably feels like it was his fault Maggie has no family at that point
@@babydollT yes she was a dumbass for that weak ass shoulder stab but I'm talking about the fact that Daryl saw a way out and chose to stay behind killing all of those walkers when they could have just ran together and Beth wouldn't have gotten picked up by those people or at least Daryl would be with her.
Beth wouldnt have died if she didnt stab the bitch. Not daryls fault she got taken they were split for that moment and beth was just in the wrong place
@@amy-bethtaylor2656 haha I saw the beginning so many times and every time I'm as excited as I was at first, you can see where they all came from as people and can appreciate their developments even more
Negan isn’t really that crazy , It was Daryl’s fault though , he got up and punched Negan - the way Negan is in the comics and the show is that he believes that actions have consequences , Negan was only going to kill Abraham but then Daryl got up and punched him , which caused Glenn to die as a consequence and him getting taking to the saviors prison area.
@@PhilGerb93 he got her husband brutally killed in front of her. He blames himself for the shit that's going on. So yeah. Him breaking down apologizing showing his human side was emotional af. We really haven't seen that out of Daryl since like season 3
@@matthewsansom5180 Saying sorry is the least you can expect from someone when he's responsible for someone's death lol. Anyway, it's an emotional scene, sure, but masterpiece is just too much
@@PhilGerb93 agree to disagree I suppose. Personally the scene gutted me! Seeing Daryl go from the typical manly soldier type to suddenly dropping the front from the guilt and pain weighing on him. When he looks around at his friends, well at this point family, he sees pain and a lot of it is his fault (or at least he believes it's his fault) he's always put his group first and his actions got one of his best friends and one of the most important people in the group (who had a kid on the way) killed I've worked in the film industry as an actor and stuntman for years and something that always stuck with me was what a director said to me. "The context makes the character, and the character makes the scene" I think this is a prime example of that!
@@matthewsansom5180 Based on your criterias, every scene where Daryl, or any tough guy cries is a masterpiece. Which part makes it a masterpiece exactly? It's literally just an actor crying. Unless you mean that the writing makes it a masterpiece? But again, it's just Daryl apologizing and feeling remorseful. I think we just have very different definitions of what a masterpiece is, but that's okay.
When Dwight had him in that cell and showed him the picture of what was left of Glenn and he broke down when that song came on...that was heartbreaking 💔
Probably you don't know really why he did it, he did it because he thought Negan would kill him for doing it and as you see before he wanted to die from him burning his hand and the other shit he did
@@Smokieeeeeeeee he hit negan because he just killed Abraham and Daryl was mad as crap and when he's made he can lose his cool a lot of times. Which is why he killed Glenn because of Daryl. But Daryl did it out of pure anger he probably wasn't even thinking straight not because he wanted to die. He could kill himself if he really wanted too nobody would be able to stop him. That's Def not why he hit negan.
@@whoareyou6854 it’s impulsive when you’re in the moment it happens so quickly you can’t control it. Sometimes you can’t help but make a split decision based on your emotions.
i know daryl is a great fighter and a tough guy and all, but he’s the most gentlest soul i’ve seen in the walking dead. he does everything because of his love for his family. and when he loses one of them, it’s like losing one of his own. such a phenomenal actor and character.
I hurt for Daryl through the entirety of the show he has shouldering the emotional baggage of everyone, tough sumbitch my brother. daryl.. can't no one kill Daryl but daryl
Norman is such a good actor, he oftens just plays the silent badass type but he really can have impressive range, I wished he got more varied job to allow him to showcase that
This is very much like someone who lost a loved one. Daryl lost someone again. But he blames himself. I have to. You can’t help it. You basically just miss em so much.
Man I swear Daryl is such a good person that the guilt wouldn't even let him talk to Maggie. Yes and no false or no fault he doesn't deserve to feel that way. He loved Glenn loved Abraham and it sucks that he put all the weights of the guilt on his shoulders
This is such an emotion scene and Norman absolutely nails it. This and the scene where he thinks Rick dies. People use to say he was a bad actor too can you believe that
This video come across my feed every once and a while and lemme tell ya Norman’s acting here is incredible. In this moment you can’t help but feel bad for him, every single time my heart just drops. The way his voice cracks, you can’t tell that since Glenn’s death, constantly being reminded of it via psychological torture from Dwight far up until that point he’s been trying to put on this mask of stoicism only for it to fall the one time he’s alone with Glenn’s wife, the one who’s his death affected the most. Unreal.
i think people forget he also thinks one of the people he loved most, Beth, Maggie's sister, also died because of him. he's just deeply sorry and can't face Maggie after also getting Glenn killed.
He’s got a soft side he keeps deep in him due to the way his abusive father raised him but every now and then it slips through to the people he cares about most and it’s really heartwarming to see that the crazy guy with a crossbow is just as human as the rest of us.
Daryl may be the only character in TWD who blames Daryl for Glenn's death. Wish we had at least one other person blame him. As it was his anger mixed with negan that got Glenn killed
@@williammiller496 if someone's holding you and your friend hostage at gunpoint and says don't try anything and nobody gets hurt but you throw yourself at them anyways and he ends up shooting your friend. You may not be the one who killed him directly but your definitely harbouring some of the blame... No doubt about it. Glenn would be alive if Daryl didn't punch him
@@noturmum7967 He was responsible for his death, but he didn’t think he was going to be. The guy you replied to was trying to say that Daryl assumed he was gonna be killed, not glenn. When a gun is pointed at everybody and you do something, you expect to be punished. I know people will think differently, but many would assume they would be killed because they did it.
@@Gamer-zh6sy it's blantantly obvious that Daryl didn't think he would kill someone else like Glenn. That wasn't my point. My point was inadvertently or not. Daryl did have a hand in Glenn's death. And it's undeniable...
@@Gamer-zh6sy bra it’s Daryls fault not Negan maybe some part Glenn but not really(I think if someone else did what Glenn did and then Daryl punched Negan they would of died so eh)ok one thing to know about Negan is that he knows which one he is going to kill and which one he want to not kill,he has a plan and he has eyes everywhere,ok so Negan gave Glenn a chance but he told everyone that if they mess up one more time he will kill one more person cut to Daryl and he punches Negan to Negan that’s a mess up so he kills one more person,I like Negan he’s my favorite character now me personally I don’t think he’s a bad guy he has his ways of getting supplies you may not agree with it but it’s the apocalypse rules don’t apply there.
This season was the actual finale for me .. and also the best .. all the emotions ,, so strong happy, sad and motivated moments .. I re-watch it frequently
The creation of daryl Dixon for the show was the smartest thing ever, after Abraham died he did the emotional thing that any human would do after watching their friend get his head bashed in, and when he saw glenn die his face and just body language was on point he looked so fucking sad watching his other friend die due to his anger, such a realistic character and realistic response which made that whole sequence so fucking good, raw emotion is what you get when you have good ass actors like Norman reedus and andrew lincoln
Now look back at the episode where Negan killed Abraham and Glenn his face when Negan was beating Glenn to death Daryl’s face sadness and regret, Sadness because Glenn was dying and regret for killing the saviors
My heart hurts for Daryl, I don’t like seeing such a strong person cry. He deserves to be happy. He’s been through so much already. I want to hug him so badly when watching this. 🥺🫂❤️❤️
Spoiler Alert: It wasn't necessarily Daryl's fault, but at the same time it was. But honestly, I think that it had to happen in order for Daryl's character development to go any further. Because it made him almost a better character, more caring, and he thinks about what hes gonna do before doing it instead of going straight into a tantrum. And I think that's why hes the new main leader dude in the new seasons, it's so good, and it's so heartbreaking. His character development is one one the BEST things this show has to offer. I'm so in lovee
Really? Cause he threw a tantrum when Rick didn’t kill Negan, they fought and missed an entire hoard coming which caused Rick’s death. He F’d up twice, and now he’s a hell of a lot calmer.
@@shefandben Well thats another character bump where he had to develop. You don't see him still trying to kill Negan.... directly at least lol. I'm not saying this made him the perfect character, I'm just saying this was a huge character development for him. It really shaped him into the character he is now and I'm completely head over heels my dude. This show is good as fuuuu. I'm just sad we got a new director:// But they really did us good with my man's Dixon:))
Glenn was actually supposed to die a long time before he did. That’s how it was in the comics. But the audience and fans loved him so much he stayed for a few more seasons. I’m just glad we got to see him be a badass even if it was for a little bit
Love being in a fandom where we still watch and love the old episodes ❤ I'm genuinely tearing up, Norman Reedus is a brilliant actor. When Daryl cries, we cry 😔
The thing that gets me the most about Daryl is that before the apocalypse he was a ferrel person. No love or any real connections. When the apocalypse hit he ended up with a family and friends. More than he could ever ask for and it means more to him than the weight of the world in gold. So when he feels like he screwed up or if he gets hurt at all. He just kinda caves in and curls up like a ferrel animal too. It's so sad to see.
