To answer Ovela's inquiry if he (pertaining to Daryl Ong) sang it the way Ed Sheeran did in the original tracks, here's Daryl Ong's FB post last June 15 and I quote: "I don’t see the point of doing a cover if you’re just gonna sing it exactly the way the original singer sang it. For me, Making covers is an expression of one’s artistry or should I say, it’s somewhat a gauge of true CREATIVITY, -how to make an old song sound new. Now you can’t technically own an old song. But at least you can make a new moment in an old song that your audience will remember and keep them “revisiting” a beautiful song that may already be forgotten. And as for your fellow musicians and artists, it’s a way of telling them that music should give you a sense of freedom of expressing who you really are. The truth is, you cannot please everyone, but by being yourself, you will find the people who will love the real artist in you. At sa mga hindi ka magegets bilang artist, don’t mind them. It’s either they just simply cannot grasp or they cannot do what you can and they end up hating you for it. Or maybe di lang talaga nila gusto, that’s fine, but don’t let their opinion or set of standards hinder your creativity. Music is freedom. And freedom is about being true to yourself. 🙂"

His vocal chords are more flexible than the usual that's why he can do those runs relatively easily which is very typical among black singers but not among average pinoy.

All his runs are originally by him, and his cover really is authentic. He is like the King of Runs in this country. He is also part of KZ's group in ASAP. Daryl is one of those singers who is as perfect live as he is recorded. Some would say that he does his rifts way overboard but I really love it because it is one of his strengths. Though I’m grateful that you finally reacted to this but I just felt like Ovela underestimates Filipinos. When he said that it seems like Daryl was born in the states because of his runs. No dude! It doesn’t necessarily be a USA-born to make those runs. Trust me, there are more natives who can do better runs here, everywhere. And at the end, Ovela said that he’s happy if the rendition is original. Filipinos have been interpreting songs with original touch. So I guess, just expect that Filipinos can be great rather than not expecting it from us. But great! MAngel was having fun. Obviously she watched it already prior to this.
