Can you help me, Jenny? 2:28 What tense are we saying "...that you're going for a walk" is? Why isn't it written, "... dass du spaziertest" ? "spazieren bist" is not the past participle... or the subjunctive or future. Wait... so the contraction "you're" is really "you WERE going for a walk"? No, then in German it would be "du spaziertest." 🤷♂ Great video!
spazieren gehen, einkaufen gehen, Tennis spielen gehen, joggen gehen... there are a lot of expressions in German that use 2 infinitives, including gehen when you go somewhere to do something. So you can say, ich gehe spazieren (Präsens), ich bin spazieren gegangen (Perfekt) and Ich ging spazieren)Präteritum. The latter is mostly used in writing, though.
