This is the last video from the DC, Maryland & Virginia metro area possibly until next summer. I basically saved the best for last in the entire series of videos I've been uploading.
This past summer, DASH had a big task in their hands, as not only did they operate regular service, but they also operated their portion of the Metro Blue Line Shuttle. Blue Line service was shut down between Franconia-Springfield Station and the Ronald Reagan-Washington National Airport Station due to major platform reconstruction work along the line. Yellow line service was also shut down between Huntington Station and the Airport as well.
In order to prepare for the Blue Line Shuttle, they reactivated a bunch of Orion Vs back into service, and also purchased some extra buses, those buses being two Gillig Phantom Suburbans, and several Neoplan AN460 Transliner Articulated buses. The Neoplan artics marks the first time DASH has ever used articulated buses.
What you'll see here is a lot of Orion Vs, New Flyer XD35 "Xcelsiors" Gillig Phantoms, Gillig Low Floor Hybrids and Neoplan AN460 Transliner Articulated buses all operating in regular service, and in Blue Line Shuttle service all within Alexandria, Virginia. I really wish I was able to get some videos of the 35ft Gillig Phantoms and some of the Gillig Low Floors, but there's always next time.
Buses seen here are as follows
2001-2002 Neoplan AN460 Transliner Articulated buses: Detroit Diesel Series 60 DDEC & Allison B500R6
2005 Gillig Phantom Suburban: Cummins ISL & Allison B400R6
2006-2007 Orion V: Cummins ISM & Voith D864.3
2011-2017 Gillig Low Floor Hybrid: Cummins ISB & Allison H40 EP Hybrid System
2019 New Flyer XD35 "Xcelsior": Cummins L9 & Allison B400R6 Gen V
I hope you guys enjoyed the video, subscribe & stay tuned for more!

CaitSith810 I always see this weird bus in New York. It appears to be a former Gillig Phantom ( #100 ) from DASH running as a Richmond express bus over the Verrazano bridge in Brooklyn. I saw it last week at 9:00 PM ish on the Fort Hamilton Parkway entrance. Do you have any information on that bus, and how to even ride it? I can't find any info online.

I have a video, I may post it. It isn't a suburban and has the Orion V paint scheme as seen in this video.

Were the Gillig Phantoms originally their equipment or purchased used from another agency?

They also had some phantoms from 1996 or so, but they have since been retired.

DASH ordered 35' Gillig Phantoms in 96, 98, 99, and 07. All have been retired. We purchased two 40' second hand from PRTC specifically for the Blue Line shuttle service.
