18:48 if a motorcycle has just crashed in front of you and he (or his bike) is blocking the lane, don't pull off to the right. Put your hazard lights on and stop in the lane to give the poor sod some protection. People behind you will be looking at you, see some space on the inside of you, then take it (as someone did) - straight into the guy (or the bike) who's now lying in the middle of the road, making someone's day even worse than it is already.
Came off my bike on Hampstead Road in SA and glad to say everyone behind me pulled up, stuck on their hazards and a couple of blokes got out and helped me up and moved the bike off the road. Last week I saw a concrete truck on its side on the same road. We may even get the footage here soon.
Had an off years ago in slight drizzle, it can happen when the roads are oily at intersections...spun on my hands and toes for about thirty feet and every car slowed to have a look then all of them drove on. Not one person offered assistance. I suppose if the weather has been better someone may have braved the dry conditions to help. Aussies do not care about motorcyclists.

There should be routine retesting for drivers licenses. Every 10 years, shortening to every 5 years from 65. With extra emphasis on the testing of any laws changed in the last 10 years.
I think you’re right. The number of shocking drivers I see, who are all driving beat-up Camrys, and are all the same ‘background.’ Also have no insurance. 😳

Depends on the state. Some states says the U-turn driver should give way, the rest (e.g. WA) the driver should not make a U-turn when "U-turn permit" sign is not present.
19:59 In case anyone is wondering why the truck driver is doing this , it's because he is avoiding the overhanging tree on the corner. He gave plenty of warning and the car driver should have paid attention instead of staying in the truck's blind spot.
The truck was at the intersection first, with left indicator on. The car came later and the driver is a complete tool for ignoring the "do not overtake turning vehicle", got what they deserved.
I agree, that's what makes me afraid when I'm behind my truck. Some people just have no clue when around trucks and they should be taught... before being behind the wheel. Hope the footage was used to help the trucks innocent
why instead did the truck not follow the markings on the road and the purpose of a ROUND about, they should have turned right to safely make it, they did not have right of way or clear view to change lanes in such a unsafe manner.
@@miche6563because if the truck did that, he would have destroyed the roundabout and gotten stuck or even worse, the load could have fallen onto the other cars. This is why you do not overtake a longer vehicle because their turning circle is completely different to a regular sized car.
@@miche6563 because of the little sign on the back of the truck "give way to turning vehicle". The truck needed to turn left there, he put the indicator on before the turn and before car that was hit came along, and he couldn't turn a truck like that from the left lane without possibly mounting the curb or hitting overhanging trees on the slow lane. The reason for the "give way" sign on the back of trucks is exactly for this, to allow the trucks to turn from not necessary the correct marked lane. But as some others had said, he should have asserted the control of the roundabout by straddling 2 lanes at the start, this might have given the car 2nd thoughts about trying to get around it.
I think we all have days where we need to blow that steam out. Last time I did that I laughed at myself for being so over the top. But it still felt good 😂

@@kharris7587It’s all about using your mirrors and looking around yourself, you can use the bay in front of you for reference as well. You can also pre-steer the car so that the rear is more angled towards the parking space and you don’t have to make a 90 degree turn in reverse. Even though you’re blocking the oncoming cars, it really doesn’t matter. They’ll stop anyway if you’re trying to park. Also why did you say you’re a girl as though it’s an excuse or something?

They call it beta test as a way to swindle people out of their money, but the reality is that if you kill someone while it's activated, it's no different to having cruise control, you will potentially face prison time!
@@johnnichol9412 - the automatic emergency braking is probably what stopped the car hitting the bus at the last second. These systems help the driver to avoid a collision but don't necessarily stop one from happening.

It's what saved my dad maybe 10 years ago. Apparently he was slow to set off at a pedestrian crossing and just as he did a car blasted through the intersection in the kerb-side lane and slammed on the brakes. It skidded to a halt, paused for a moment, and then took off. Less than 1 metre and less than 1 second between my dad never coming home that day.

Considering there isn't a lot of people with a dash cam in Australia its also just a really small portion. I think driving for a living is pretty tough, but the toughest, craziest of them all would have to be the scooter courier dudes- they're practically destined to be organ donors
Speaking as one of those people that drives for a living, it isn't really hell. It is however always very educational realizing that there are so many different versions and interpretations of basic traffic laws and etiquette. To say nothing of common sense and situational awareness. It keeps me amused. As I also ride a motorbike, I'm occasionally very worried. As for the scooter couriers, they are a special kind of desperate.
@@swampmarshy Located in Algarve, Portugal, Europe the traffic gets heavy in the Summer with tourism. There are a lot of elderly drivers here who seem to be medicated off their heads and drive really slow without proper care & attention to others. The lorry drivers 'bully' there way out of junctions a lot but I understand that or they would sit there all day waiting for a space.

Edit: I can't quite tell if the lane markings are faded but from the video they appear to end before the lane runs out. This would make the cammer at fault since it appears to be a zipper merge. Legally speaking if the lane markings terminate at the end of the lane, No. "When a motorist is traveling in a marked lane that is coming to an end, they are required to merge into another lane across a broken painted line. In this case, the driver traveling in the ending lane must give way to traffic traveling in the lane being entered, even if they are slightly ahead.". I maintain this a dumb rule as you get absolute spoons like the DCer who fly up the inside, lack any consideration and cause an accident because "they are in the right".

The licensing authorities in each state/territory need to see these videos so that they can see how many idiots there are on the roads. They might take the learning and licensing process more seriously if they saw them. Needs to be harder to get a license and easier to lose it.
I said the same to our dept of transport last time I was in there, that they should do checks at least every ten years on open licences as there are so many idiots on the road now. She commented that she wouldn’t pass 😅

Then they can change the learning/licensing process to make it harder to get a license. If they teach them properly and make it harder to obtain a license and easier to lose it, then we might see the driving standard improve.
Not at all excusing the Camry , but the DC driver really should've just driven defensively and eased off and let them in rather than continuing on at the same pace- doesn't look like there was anybody right behind them
Hopefully the car driver has the DC's vid to take to Court if she is charged with "failing to give way to approaching motor vehicle" or somesuch... when the motorcyclist's speed and manner of driving contributed greatly to the inevitable crash?

As someone who has ridden a motorcycle for 12 years on Sydney streets, all I can say is the idiot at 7:17 got what he deserved, he was stupid to pass the car within the same lane like he did and karma did its job, lets just hope he learned something from the experience
Didnt learn a thing. Had a bike sit in the blind spot behind my c pillar. Then on my bumper, then passed on the left on a single lane 80kmh. Qld reg lams bike.

Been binging these videos and I'm very worried about just how many of these accidents are happening on roads I recognise. This is gonna make me drive so much more carefully that's for sure!
People do know all of the roads are connected to each other in Australia don't they? If you miss your turn or off ramp, take the next one - it won't kill you.......or anyone else.
