Today I'm testing out the Dash Multi-Plate Mini Maker that creates mini waffles with various designs. While I thought it worked, the price and cook time left something to be desired.

I love mine for Chaffles, i have waffle and pancake so can do 2 at a time . pancake is better if you want to do sandwiches , waffle is better for a crispy edged Chaffle . enjoy having the choice and flexibility... On the other hand ...the plates only do one side , lot of extra cost, Btw mine cost 8$ each much better than 50 bucks here for designs added

Generally speaking, the first one will always take the longest to cook. Sometime I make 2 loaves of bread and the second one always takes a shorter time than the first. This is true with cookies too. It takes a while for the entire mass of the thing (as opposed to just the plates) to heat up and stabilize. When you make them one of after the other, the cooker doesn't have time to cool back down entirely.

I own the reg Dash Mini Waffle Maker, and since its just me I saw no sense in getting the special designs one. Today I watched just out of curiosity to see what they would look like. Anyways, I only make about a cup's worth of batter & make as many it makes. I freeze whatever I don't eat for the next time. I think its great for those who are single like myself OR for those with children; but a bigger standard waffle maker would be best for those with larger families. IMO BTW: I also got mine from WM for $8.98 + tax for my BD in Sept.

I could see someone listening to music, a podcast, watching television or RU-vid videos while making flavored waffles for the holidays over and over so they could stick them into the freezer for later and trot them out as appropriate and heat those little things easily in a toaster--especially if it's a 4-slot toaster. Add some good topping and you could eat them like cookies, cupcakes, or "ice cream sandwiches". At least they put the different plates in the box. I'd expect a corporation to put only a few in the box and dangle more plates for an additional cost.

I hate mine too, in fact I hate almost everything Dash, a product design to do one thing and one thing only and even that takes forever and many times not properly done. I purchased awhile back the 3 different units, griddle, grill and waffle maker. Hate them all, waist of money, waffles take forever, griddle overcooks the eggs, hamburger makes a mess difficult to clean. Someone gave me the rice cooker, same garbage. I just pull my pressure cooker for rice, cook burgers on the stove and forget about waffles, pancakes suit me just fine.

it makes sense for it to be distinctly more expensive (because just think about how much a single plate could be reasonably priced at), but unless you're a big fan of mini waffles and love the idea of matching them to any occasion, it simply isn't worth it. not because it's a _bad_ idea or _significantly_ overpriced for what it is, but only because you don't care much for the feature making it more costly.

I have a few Dash appliances, and enjoy them a lot. BUT - the one I haven’t tried yet is the Electric Mandolin; after it arrived a couple of years ago, and unpacking it, I developed a bit of fear due to all the darned attachments…maybe I’ll “grow a set” and dive in January. 🤷‍♀️

I just looked it up. Why fear though? I could understand fear with normal mandolins because one’s fingers get so close to such a sharp blade and many people have suffered terrible injuries because of that, but the electric mandolin looks like a totally safe product, using a feeding chute like a food processor. Speaking of food processors... I think a high end one is well worth getting over an electric mandolin, because it’s capable of doing everything the e-mandolin is, but can do sooo much more. That big e-mandolin looks like it takes up just about the same amount of kitchen space as a food processor too! I know it’s a big price difference, but if food processors are essential for a ton of dishes these days, and are huge time savers.

@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Yeah - I have a great food processor. I’m a gadget nerd though - saw the electric mandolin and couldn’t order it fast enough. And I will be trying out soon. I exaggerated the “fear”. 🤪

@@aprilrich807 I don’t get it… Does your food processor not do what the electric mandolin does? Why would you order something that a food processor already does if so? I watched a video of the dash electric mandolin after I wrote my comment to you, and I was cringing at just how slow it was. My food processor does the same thing in the snap of a finger.

I tried the dash omelette maker, since I live alone and don't want to make a whole pan's worth but the internals aren't removable. I liked it and it performed great, but cleaning it, relegates it to the never again.

I'm sure the extra time is portion control 😂 it keeps you from binging on waffles😮

No parent would give their kids a choice. What most of us would do is make 10 of each plate, a few at a time, freeze them and pop them into the toaster when needed. I don’t know a single person that makes fresh breakfast in the morning.

i have a normal mini dash and a christmas mini dash. my kid loves them and i can see the use of having this 7 change plate, though i am uninterested in it. Does anyone have room for 7-8 mini waffle makers? if you have a kid that's a picky eater, have a hard time getting to eat due to illness, etc then something like this would be handy.

WHAT?! $50?! HELLLLLL NO! when i started my obsession with keto chaffles, i went on to amazon. mini dash's were going for a little more than $10. then i noticed the orange halloween version (the design difference is regular waffle on 1 side/that pumpkin shape on the other). TWO of them for $10! DEAL!!! LOVE them. LOVE having 2 so I can make my chaffles quicker. but pay $50 for a mini dash? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Did you actually wait for it to "preheat" each time even though it was already hot after cooking the previous waffle?
