Mt.8848 was formed on the summer of 2005 by founder members Pharendra Limbu, Nikhmal Gartaula and Darshan Rai and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music . They met at a recording session in a studio and instantly connected through their preferences in music. Each of them wanted to contribute something to the nepali music industry hence formed a band and started writing songs.They invited fellow guitar player Amar Limbu and Shiba Limbu to play in the band. Within a year they released their FIRST ALBUM (YO SANSAAR). The album contained hits like RAAT GUJAARNA, 60(SAATTHI), YO SANSAAR and MASKI MASKI. and their SECOND ALBUM (Jue Ko Maasu) released on 2012 which contained hits like JEU KO MAASU, CHIURI PHOOL and TIMI RA MA. Later the band added guitar players Rikesh Puri and Aashish Gorkhali. In 2017 & 2018, Sanjay Shrestha and Jigmee Wangchuk Lepcha joined the band respectively . Main purpose of the band is to promote nepali music and the group is widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in Nepal.
