He can more than keep up with NYC traffic while overall exerting himself at the level of a normal walk. Traffic in the central core of any big city only averages ~10 mph when time spent waiting at intersections is taken into account. So he can be sweating as much as he would by just walking while continuously getting the cooling/drying benefit of a 10+ mph breeze. (We mostly only see the parts where he’s exerting himself. The stretches when he’s almost effortlessly cruising are edited out of his vids, because they’re boring.) Some additional wrinkles. The biomechanics of skating = kicking your leg out to the side = ventilation “downstairs.” When coasting, hands on hips = ventilated pits. Sweaty backpack seems to be a much bigger problem for some than others; there are products on the market that aim to drastically improve ventilation there, but I haven’t tried any of them personally.

As someone who got back into it and did it as a kid in the 90’s; believe me when I say the online skates they have out now are nothing like the chunky ones from back then. They have way more fashionable lines of skates now from different brands. THEM 909s are even sold on luxury fashion websites as if they’re clothes!!🤯
