I'm a big fan of hers. Was fortunate to hear all her great songs on the radio in the 60s. This is beautiful. Downtown was her biggest hit. Other hits include Don't Sleep in the Subway, I know a Place and I couldn't live without yr Love. Hard to believe she's 88. I appreciate u reacting to this great singer who has become forgotten. Was popular from 64 to early 70s. Best success on yr channel

Petula (who has been in show biz for nearly 80 years) doesn't just sing songs, she lives them. Incidentally, your pronunciation of her name is bang on. She recorded this song in the 60s, in English, French, German and Italian.. I'll post these versions for you to see. But for pouring emotion into it, here is a "live at the Paris Olympia" version from 2003. This is the Italian version... I imagine sometime in the late 60s. It seems to be the fashion in Italy to clap in the middle of a song, for no good reason. She and Barbra Streisand were my two favorite female artists when I was a teen in the 60’s. I’m sorry you chose this particular version of her song to react to the first time. She’s much older and her voice has certainly aged. You’re better off watching some of her early television appearances of her big hits like Downtown and I Know a Place.

You should listen to her original stuff from 1967 ish and one of her favourite songs written by the great Charlie Chaplain This Is My Song .
