There was a conference of well known writers and poets in a Russian town. Sahir Saheb,. Imroz and Amrita Madam dined their dinner in a hotel. It was very cold at one side of the hotel there was Ocean at other side there was a Kindle and at third side there was a range of Mountain, thus this was a beautiful and romantic place. After dinner they started drinks. When the drinks was over, Imroz and Madam left the table. Sahir Saheb was alone at the table with three empty glases. At that time Sahir Saheb wrote this song and at 11 pm phoned to Madam and recited this song. This is the story behind this song.

Liked the presentation but a little research would have helped. Sahib Saab wasn’t involved with Kaagaz Ke Phool ( Kaifi Azmi ) & the movie you referred should read as Chitralekha ( Chandralekha was a movie from the late 40’s )
Great Sahir was born at Malerkotla. His father had many wives. His mother moved to Ludhiana. He was student of Government College Ludhiana. Not of Khalsa College. Chand kalian nishat ki chun kar, Mudton mehveyas rehra hoon Tujh se milna Khushi ki baat sahi Tujh se mil ke udaas rehta hoon. This is the beginning of his book TALKHIYAN. Sahir can't be emulated.
