I can't believe that we live in this era wherein an entire bootcamp dedicated to data analysis is uploaded free of cost for the general public -> unbelievable power of educational tech joining hands with such immensely progressive people. This channel feels quite overwhelming at times due to the incredible wealth of knowledge it offers! I hope I just don't keep this course only in my saved playlist without actually starting it!
For people who cannot load the Covid Data properly in Excel (Data does not separate). You want to open excel first as blank document. Go to data menu at top. Click Load data from CSV. Select separator as a comma and check that it contains headers. Data should be laoded properly. Make sure to save as compatible file type.
This channel is so overwhelming like the amount of things and knowledge they give out for free is unmatchable. I couldn't believe i have so many times seen alex recommend fcc but today he came here ig it honour for him also. Thank you fcc and Alex❤️
Thank you, Alex and FCC for this Bootcamp! I started this 3 days ago and just completed the SQL Basics as a complete beginner. I hope to post my updates here as I go through this, so I have this comment to be accountable of.
I'm currently a 4th year student of Accounting and Finance, working part time in accounting but wanting to become a Data Analyst. I'm starting with this course!
I'm persuing Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Accounting and this my last semester, will this course be helpful for me to get into Data Analysis field?!
38:56 18/05 Last time we left with IN statement -> Tomorrow start with GROUP BY. 1:08:20 19/05 We already explored GROUP BY, ORDER BY JOIN and UNION -> Tomorrow, start with case statement. 1:34:15 20/05 I have learned updating, deleting, AS and PARTITION BY (very powerful cluase) -> Tomorrow start with common table expression. 2:02:05 21/05 Common Table Expression, Session, Temp Table, Clean data -> TMW, stored procedure and subqueries. 2:20:00 22/05 I have learned stored procedure, ALTER stored procedure(including parameters) and subquery -> we will do a project involving data exploration with COVID19 data.
Thank you for all of you guy to remind me this. I have faded out because I got an internship as data engineer. Forturnately, this course provide me with basic SQL and tableau so it help me a lot.
Using Microsoft's version of SQL!! THANK YOU!! In Healthcare Finance, that is all that I see and everyone on RU-vid seems to teach MySQL or something else. I know they are basically the same. But.... when you are first starting, it is nice to have something familiar.
Hey there , I am also an entry level data analyst , just learning with the help of tutorials and books , can we connect , so that we can explore and share and learn more together , taking challenge to be consistent each day .
For the first portfolio project I was facing many issues importing data with the Sql 2022 edition, so to fix it uninstall Sql 2022 and install the older version Sql 2019 which Alex is using in the above tutorial
I'm a project manager interested in using this course to gain insights into customer behavior. This knowledge will help us leverage the data we collect to create truly engaging products and keep users hooked. As the book" Limitless" by Kwik puts it, the best way to test your understanding of a concept is to teach it. Thanks
For anyone going through the projects, to import the data you can right click the database > Tasks > Import Data... it seems to automatically run the 32 bit version of the wizard if you're struggling to find the file
For the second project, he seems to find a workaround to import the data. I was able to still use this method to import the data easily. I haven't worked it through but if the issue is that SSMS doesnt detect your excel version, all I did was install the 32 bit of Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime. I'm using some 2021 Excel version but that got me around that part. Then instead of "initial server" or whatever it says for your destination, just pick the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server. It's a more updated version of what he picks in the dropdown.
This is massive. I was already learning data analysis to become an analyst and your video popped up in RU-vid suggestion. Thanks so much Alex. I'm hoping to be done with this entire video in about 3 weeks
I'm still not done. But if you want a review, you can continue looking at the comments. Many people have left reviews. You could also take the course to get your review since the course is free😊😊
Love this Alex! Had to do some tinkering around because I have a Mac and using MySQL but once I figured out how to input the data, following along is pretty flawless
@@justpassingbylearning on Alex's channel, he has instructions on how to download mysql, so I just followed that process and used the data set he uses in this video
THANK YOU FOR COMMENTING, I WAS ALSO PONDERING IF I SHOULD WATCH BECAUSE I HAVE MYSQL WIH MAC =) I WAS JUST ABOUT TO JUST LOAD THE DATA AND FIGURE IT OUT.
Love to hear your review on this video and how it truly compares to the real world. I'm trying to get into the field and would love to hear how it mimics your environment, if at all. Thanks!
02:16:57 - if you struggle at following with first project and cannot import excel data into destination SQL SERVER NATIVE CLIENT 11.0 - it's because microsoft updated it into - MICROSOFT OLE DB PROVIDER FOR SQL SERVER
In Tableau section who have problem with price, you can change price column as numeric in excel to solve. Also for map visualization issue, check the map -> edit location. it may be defaulting to your country.
I must really thank Mr Alex on behalf of all others here. This bootcamp came in just at a very crucial time. I know like many others who might have been doing self paced learning sifting through many materials gies with a lot of grit and determination. With this fine package, it makes the journey all the more easier. Once qm done on the learning ill be sharing working on some very crucial portfolios i have already earmarked for myself as crucial data analysis projects. Hope to share with you soon. Thanks
I just want to thank Alex and Freecodecamp for providing this content. I'm a mental health case manager working on my MSW, while seeking to transition into data analytics to integrate domain knowledge from the mental health field. I'm self-teaching myself, so by the time I graduate in August, I can be prepared to make the transition. This bootcamp enables me to streamline my learning, which is beneficial as school/work gets busy. It's particularly helpful for anyone trying to build a habit, as you have one video to focus on breaking any possible resistance. I believe this is key especially when learning something new.
for those confused on the links not showing for where to download these videos as mashed up together so for link you have to go on his page and click the relevant video and then click the link from that video. You are welcome
Thanks for such a informative piece. I am gonna update my progress here and planning to complete the whole bootcamp by next 20 days with 5 hours of practice in a day, In Sha Allah.
This is My Second Day of Watching this video. I have watched and practiced Intermediate MySQL. I will start from Advanced MySQL from tomorrow, In Sha Allah.
I was about to enroll in a $5000 bootcamp to pursue Data Analytics, but this free content changed my mind, at least for now. I'm starting a whole new learning phase. Good luck to everyone who has just started, just like myself. Guidance from those who have already completed this journey would be much appreciated. Peace!
I'm going to be graduate this month with BCom in Financial Accounting, I've got 2 courses in my hand, this one and the ultimate Tableau course. Which one should I pick?!
This channel is something I can never put into words. They deserve more subscribes. What an amazing groups of people these people are. God bless each one of these people for providing a free educational content so we all can succeed. ❤❤
Hey guys, so this video will be my first taste of anything relative to a data analytics class, after doing my own career research. I’m bout to turn 22 this week. I had dropped out of college 3 months in for a stupid reason; someone else’s “advice”. I guess I was the stupid one really. For not knowing what I wanted…. And what I want, truly, is to be an analyst. LOL. So now I can be the one to give advice and do it better than was done to me. I hope you guys know what you want… so you don’t lose any of our “free but priceless” time. Anyway, let the learning begin!!!
17:08 - "And there you go. It's as easy as that." I love how getting started on these is always the hardest part for beginners and people act like getting the software up and running is so easy.
I did his bootcamp and can absolutely vouch for the quality of material. The Tableau part, specifically, is one of the very best on RU-vid. If youre planning your portfolio in Data analytics, start exactly here! All the best 🌟
hi I will be starting this course from today and will complete it by 24th of oct , I will be commenting on my progress regularly, I hope this helps me land a job :-)
this is interesting. I'm in my early 50s and have been working in this 'space' for 20+ years. At this point, I guess I'm an advanced sql person, have done a decent amount of dynamic sql and made many functions for helping to parse/reformat strings. Our shop does extensive data cleaning in a good text editor, and sometimes within sql server itself. I was an expert with crystal reports, but we don't use it very much. Everyone should of course be comfy getting data (be it a text file, excel, etc) getting it loaded into sql server, and fully manipulating it in different ways. Interestingly, we do our work in a cloud but we don't use Azure b/c it does not have a 'model' database. For our shop, it is crucial to have a 'model' database where we can put new functions, stored procs, etc. So we are using a very new version of non-Azure sql server...It seems like other shops would have run into this type of scenario, no?
actually it's very simple to import excel data to SSMS, if you have text/csv just choose the import flat data. But if you only have the xlsx then you need to download additional file that provided by microsoft
*Solution "SQL section" Importing .CSV file into SSMS data type varchar -> int/Numeric. data type varchar to int or float: After selecting Data source: "Flat File Source " select Advanced option. There you will see columns data type. Select column and change DataType to numeric [DT_NUMERIC]. You have to do this manually. If you don't change data type then SQL server will import .csv file columns as string value. It will create problems when doing arithmetic operation in SQL Query.
What a nice surprise. So glad there is a smth like this kind of boot camp for free. To all aspiring data analysts/bi devs - there is no sense to pay for any resources at beginning, do not get catch for dreams sellers, data vizzards or other data selfsuperhero
Alex, I appreciate the effort you've put into this bootcamp, but I want to share some advice with fellow participants. If you're serious about mastering Power BI, it's important to consider alternative learning paths. Courses on platforms like Udemy or joining paid online/offline programs can provide a more comprehensive understanding of Power BI, tailored to individual learning needs.
Thanks for this Alex! On the JOINS part I just noticed that you might have swapped the order with Insert I kept on doing the Right/Left Outer Joins but nothing changes on the table (upon double checking, the data shown on screen already has EmployeeID up until 13th row)
this is so awesome as soon i started teaching my self about data analytics week ago freecodecamp posts 19 hours course now i have to forget other platforms
7 DAY CHALLENGE: I already know about Python programing 1:08:49 22/07/24 today learned till union , tomorrow start from case statement 2:00:00 26/07/24
