Analysis by Sky News suggests pharmacies in England are closing at a rapid rate, when the Government is asking them to do more to ease pressure on GPs.
The closures have been blamed on government funding cuts, rising rents and costs, staff shortages and supply problems, as well as increased patient demand.

In my opinion it's getting harder for businesses across the board to keep their heads above water, however, as they've said on the news they have been encouraging us the public to make more use of pharmacies & their resources. Our local Boots Pharmacy in town is under extreme pressure to keep up with prescriptions & serving the public & in my opinion as someone who is on regular medication they are doing a fantastic job ... Other pharmacies in town have closed & our Retail Boots pharmacy has also closed..I see advertisements asking people to get their medication delivered but I am not confident in those pharmacies from reading reviews to listening to others to actually deliver on time. The Government suggests this & that but then those suggestions fall through so who is actually going to support & take the pressure off our pharmacies - Doctors - Hospitals... Unfortunately, ill health is never going to go away & nor is this dilemma!

The government has underfunded the pharmacies for the work they do, so they are closing.

Exactly as someone on a lot of meds if they mess up and I don’t get them on time I will both have heart problems, depression problems pain problems and withdrawal from the pain killers also

Businesses want us to order meds on-line and have them posted to us. There’ll be no-one we can speak to when medications don’t arrive. What a piss-poor way to treat the sick.

In that case "they" (The Government) should get on with processing claims and there would be fewer to accommodate, rather than coming up with new crackpot schemes that solve nothing and cost more & more money.
