hi, theoretically yes, but in fact Fb and Google have different field names and it is not so obvious as in Google Sheets. For me use Google Sheets or BigQuery much clear than merge data in GDS directly.
@@gaillereports means if we want to blend facebook ad and google ad data then have to do in bigquery or google sheet only . we cannot blend data directly in GDS.
I am currently creating a Keyword Comparison table vs our competitors, data is from SemRush but cant merge all keywords in one column. Is there a way to do that?
Hi, sorry for the delay. You have 2 Keywords fields, right? So, in the table where you want to see all keywords in the same column, create a calculation field with IFNULL() formula.
Thank you for your comment! As I remember GDS always called this tool "Blends" and not Joins as in SQL. Or do you mean, that they added the option to change from left to right, etc. joins? They added this in 2022, several months ago.
It was helpful, but it is a little too obvious when you work with sheets, what I found to be tough is attempting to do advanced data modeling from the standard GA4 connector, for things like turning metrics into dimensions to be able to use them together on custom fields to make formulas. For instance, by blending data I was able to make a formula to count 2 different (but related) events together, but when I wanted to also filter by page location (inside the calculated field, not by using a filter) It didn't work, I tried blending the data in diff ways but I am new to this stuff.
This is related how to Google storage their data. Not all of combinations of metrics and dimensions work together. Probably, your case is impossible to solve. To check it I use API documentations. This video is about logic of joins. Great that you can match 2 different events together.
@@gaillereports yeah maybe it has to do with Scopes, on a diff video I learned a little about them, so we have "user", "event" and "item" scopes (if I remember well), but I think we should be able to mix them with joints. If not, since all I want is to filter my events, I also learned about custom dimensions, that would do it for me, if only I could get the previous data instead of starting blank, that'd be great, but that's not how GA4 works. Hello, great explanation, thank you. What would you do if you have two tables but the index field are named differently (imagine that two given fields for date are Data and Datum, so Studio says missing (obviously "data" on left is not on the right table) thanks
Total google cost and Total facebook cost number is not showing correct after blend . on 6th August total google cost should be 45 but after blending it showing total google cost on 6th August is 90. why getting different figure after blend. Plz check and guide. I have tested that when i add single dimension as date then figure is showing correct but when i add campaign dimension also with date dimension at the time of blending then the figure is showing incorrect. Hi, thank you for your question. If you check the example dashboard, I fixed it several months ago and it shows correct numbers. For 2 dimensions I added the second page to the report - lookerstudio.google.com/reporting/6c074bf2-6511-4e70-957c-e87f41f4cea2/page/p_1jmez59r4c because got several times questions about it. @@gaillereports hi gaille I have checked your report however I am not able to extract how you corrected these numbers. I don't quite understand how the formula in the "Bonus" page was used to correct, let's say, the Google Cost of 45 for August 6th. Hoping some clarification on this especially on how you corrected those visuals in the "Data blending" page. Appreciate your response, thanks
@gaillereports What did you do to fix the numbers? I checked out the link you posted, but it seems the joing config is the same. The difference that I see is that the Google Ads table has the dates aggregated on a single line.

Hi Gala, Thanks for such amazing tutorial, however I wanted to ask if its possible to do "Union all" . for example I have sales report every monday, since spreadsheet can not hold more than some specific rows , I will hve different google sheet every week on monday, all have identical column name, I am wondering if its possible to join the data every week such that column names are maintained but data is stacked down under the previous one
@@gaillereports I understand the logic, but certain cases are different. I'm currently struggling with blending GA4 with Google Ads. I want to use time series chart for 1 metrics from GA4 and other from Google Ads and I fail to do so :(
