Data scientists and machine learning engineers are an important and growing API user base. But they’re not just another set of software developers - they have unique goals and tools. Ryan Day, author of O’Reilly’s Hands-On APIs for AI and Data Science (May 2025), will share practical tips for making APIs that data scientists will love.
Ryan will give a tour of the tasks that data scientists perform and the tools they use, with an emphasis on the Python ecosystem. Then he will demonstrate how to implement a data scientist-friendly API using the Python frameworks FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic.
