The slice at step 10 means the section all steps that impact the specific variable, up to step 10. Therefore, step 10 will NOT impact the slice {3,4,5,6,8,9} but the steps in the slice will impact step 10. 10 is a USE node so it's value depends on the nodes in the slice above. I don't know the timestamp in this tutorial to which your question is related. IMO, Impact a variable means changing it's value. Yes, assigning some other value would impact it. Also, it could be impacted if the variable is re-declared or goes out of scope. Thank you.
