This is a terrific compilation -- I'd forgotten how much Data rambles in the first few seasons! Somehow when other people do it I find it irritating, but when Data does it, it's adorable! =P Thanks so much for this -- I've been rewatching TNG all of a sudden after not watching for many many years, and happy to see some interesting clips still here on RU-vid.
You know how cool it would be to have a Data just chillin' with you all the time? I'd take him to Vegas and card shark, and also just always randomly ask him random questions about interstellar quantifications.
A Shut up Wesley compilation would be good, although I don't think there are as many of these in the show as Data interruptions. Riker standing on things all over the bridge or giving his funny raised eyebrow looks at everyone would be fun, also Picard's 'Make it so' and 'Engage' would be very long! Worf wanting to shoot everything and being denied.
How did I not realize he had this many moments of being cut off? These are hilarious. It's just a good thing Androids don't get ticked off because I would've thrown somebody if I got interrupted this much.
" Why don't you ever talk?" "Well, you see.. I have found that people are often disinterested in what I have to say; often dismissing me mid-sentence or ignoring me entirely. This has lead me to believe that it would be better to only speak when I am directly asked a question, since-" "Thank you!"
Jmo I have always thought of data's emotions like a tree stump there but just barely(cut off): in all but empathy and compassion which I have always felt he had a lot of but did not realize it as such: it was like happiness without deep joy or deep passion, sad but not sorrow. he can miss a person but not really mourn the loss.he can want but not desire.
Sometimes I wondered if this gag wasn't even intentional with the creators until way later in the series they realized, wow, we have Data get interrupted a lot!
When 'Data' was on the transporter pad, beside the casket, that was somebody else inside Data. So Data was not in control of himself. So, it was not Data
I hated that movie from which the last example is taken. I found that particular encounter both poorly written and offensive, not to mention, out of character for both . . . characters.
Hey Everyone! Watch the updated Final Version of this compilation here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pb62MFWg770.html I added more scenes from season 1, updated the poor audio on some of the clips, and put the episode guide in the description. Enjoy!
