Joma you rock, keep up the good vibes! Although tbh, you should really reduce the number of self-deprecating jokes already, otherwise we have nothing to do in the comment-section here!
when i watched the video to the part of rice cooker using machine learning, I just really want to thank you for all those inspiring video when i first started data science..... crying right now..... Thanks Jonathan.
if u still here, I just have one question : I wanted to start with logistic regression and try to get it as high as i could but I hit a ceiling à .76, which is only 2% higher than the model with the model with default settings, is it worth it to keep trying tweaking it or should i go onto another model such as knn ? or if you prefer, do you think the logreg has an upper limit or I'm just on the wrong path ? but thx for your answer !
Tom Loubejac logreg is fine but it needs hand tuning pretty often for good results. Take a look here how to get >80% with logistic regression on titanic. www.kaggle.com/vedicpartap/titanic-solution-logistic-regression This is the reason why people prefer gradient boosting - it gives good results without any tuning, you can just throw data there and get good results :)
Is there any reason these companies are so close together? If they spread out we could pay normal Southern California prices (or at worst Southland prices) and I’d actually consider moving there. I mean, what’s the point of spending years getting degree(s) to move to a place where you have to live like you’re on minimum wage because the cost of living is exponential to all your raises/bonuses? Even if it’s to get points at a startup you’re betting on, what are you sacrificing? Spend your twenties and thirties with roommates who leave junk on your dining tablet that may or may not survive the cohabitation, and then when the company you work for finally goes to market or is sold and you cash out your points for millions of dollars, you’ve lost your younger days and that private luxury condo that you finally get all to yourself to impress the pretty girl who still is in her youth is no longer impressive because you’re just a middle age or old guy at this point and they aren’t impressed by your two bed, two bath condo in Silicon Valley. Please note, this is NOT directed towards him, the uploaded seems like a stand up guy, and he seems happy enough to live with roommates (something many people could could never bring themselves todo) just being critical of companies that hate each other (or just at the very least are in competition with each other) deciding to all build their tech campuses within miles of each other in a state that gives them no benefits to large corporations. I’m not wishing these companies left California, just spread out a bit. The only ones that do are outliers and pay considerably less. I work as a high school choir director and expect to be paid low, but as I’ve always had programming as a fall back, I curiously look at front end jobs from time to time and never pull the trigger because of this. These guys are supposed to be modern day pioneers, they’re creating the new world for us, and we can’t even offer them a decent 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment, and force them to live in clusters? We need rent control to come back.
"And you can watch your favorite video while you take a shhhhhh*point to the toilet, then moves is hand* shhooower. For real tho.. Am I the only one who laughed so hard?
I see and approve that you are adequately stocked with tissue paper but where is the Vaseline for your unmentionable activities? Please also consider Johnson's Baby oil, i have used it to good effect.
Love your video! Question: I always see software engineers/people at hackathon put on headphones when they code. What music do you/coders you know listen to at these occasions?
"i make 100k a year in silicon valley, 90k of which I spend on a janky shoebox-sized one-bedroom apartment. BLUE APRON PLEASE GIVE ME FREE STUFF SO I CAN EAT!!!" a 10 minute advert for a subscription service for people too stupid / lazy to learn how to cook for themselves. fantastic content.
Data science interests me very much but, because in highschool i chose the wrong subjects for it, i don't know how i could advance into a university path that would lead to working as a data scientist. Any advice? I feel stuck
Do Data Scientist REALLY have t use maths ? Im wondering... i kindda like the area, but maths and me are just not friends :p By the way, how much a DS earn this days? Finally{ ur channel is awesome, as your editing skills)
Just for reference, where I'm from in Canada, my 1,110 Sqft two bedroom two bathroom condo is 1.9K but you can even find them for less. Anyway, love your underrated videos.
It's funny seeing you go from live streaming yourself eating takeout food in a cramped room to this, lol Made it so far in such a short space of time, good stuff
"This is abstract art. It's pretty hard to comprehend the meaning of this, so I'm not even gonna bother trying to explain to you guys" damn that shit made me laugh hard af. Subscribed
