Jaxx Brat me too! We used to buy Thomas’ Date Nut Loaf. It was a dark loaf like this, and we served it with cream cheese. Over 50 years ago!

Mine, too. Like @L S, we'd by Thomas's date nut loaf. It was so long ago, but I seem to recall buying it in a can. Had round date nut and cream cheese sandwiches. One for lunch was never enough. Two would have been better, but back then (mid-60s), you ate what you could and leftovers were saved for a special treat. Damn! That sure brings back memories, come to think of it! 📡🧯💸💸🧾📸🏮🧧

Miriam Caro interesting about the can! Perhaps you’re correct, but I think I remember it in a plastic wrapper. I could be wrong. If it was in a can, it would be round, and I don’t remember it being round. I do remember my mother spreading cream cheese on it.

Okay just saw an inconsistency in your ingredients. On this video, you use baking powder. On the printed recipe, you state to use baking soda. Which is it?

where is the molasses? this is not a dark molasses bread like I remember! the one many of us love is almost black in color, and very moist, and delicious.

Daetyme Did you ever taste 1950-1970's Van de Kamps Date Nut Loaf? Just like you stated, dark and even sticky on outside top; amazing. Everyone wants to know where that recipe went!!

I used to make a date loaf from a vegetarian cookbook and I think the sugar was brown and the flour was probably whole wheat flour. It was sliced and spread with butter too

and it had tabs that were dark, it was quite thick, my mom had that book, but she has passed, and the book just disappeared.

I can;t stand people who put up these reciepes with the incorrect measurements because youwaste my time and my ingredients. 1 CUP OF SUGAR SERIOUSLY, I added just over 1/2 and it was too sweet let alone 1 WHOLE CUP. If anyone is reading this it is 1/4 CUP OF SUGAR... beacuse DATES are a natural sweetner on their own. PISSED OFF!!
