Dating while Separated? REALLY? Let's see. 

I fully support this David. My personal experience was that I after my divorce (8 years of marriage) I wasn't truly ready for a serious relationship for nearly 3 years after. I did try within the first year after, and ended up hurting someone I really cared about. Luckily, we were conconcious enough to remain friends, but it illustrated the need to take time (plus work :-) to heal. Thanks again.

I was part of one of these unavailable dramas ,love is blind people says,indeed it is,she was not ready for a serious relationship she wanted just a rebound and get a free therapist with me ,well I got lucky ,I'm out and it's over but line you said everyone loses and I got hurt ,time and feelings invested but I learned a lot thanks again

An amazing man he is, but he is going through a divorce and has been separated for over a year now. loved your advice! just started dating an emotionally unavailable man, who asked me recently where this is going - I answered that I feel comfortable in his presence, we could keep dating, but until there is no way we are going to be "soul" intimate with each other, we won't have sexual intimacy either...I don't have plans for the future, try to be cool with his situation, though it is difficult not to see it as a wasted time sometimes

My husband and I were together for 7 years, married for 5 of them. We have a 14 month old daughter and 3 weeks ago I discovered my husband has been having an affair that started when our daughter was 6 months old. Obviously I was/am completely devastated. My husband moved in with his parents (with his girlfriend) while I was on a month long trip training athletes in Europe for a big competition, and sent me a letter saying that he had "failed me and our daughter" and he was going to "lay low for a while", and that I should move in with my parents when I returned. When I returned I did move in with my parents because he left and I had no other option. I tried to understand what was going on, asked to see a marriage councilor with him, told him I loved him and that whatever it was he was going threw, I would support him ... he wouldn't budge. I then discovered he was having an affair with his assistant manager who is 10 years younger than him and that she was now living with him in his parents house! We are in the process of getting separated because neither of us can afford a divorce right now. This girl he is with is not someone I am comfortable letting my child be around, ever. He doesn't seem to care and has agreed that I will have full custody of our daughter. He is in a long term "committed" relationship with this girl. I'm sure you can imagine how unbelievably gut wrenchingly hard it is for me to know that he is in a relationship when ours never had any closer and we are technically still married and he is perfectly fine to not be involved with his daughter. I am not even remotely interested in being in a relationship with anyone new and I guess my question is, how in the world could he? He claims that he can compartmentalize basically everything, and that I should too. Is that small percentage of people made up entirely of sociopaths?

its a terrible idea to date while separated. it only makes things worse and destroys the children. You cant be emotionally available in two places at once it causes too much confusion and not worth it.

David, I met someone separated for over a yr and it has gotten rough recently. Should I tell her to call me when the divorce is finalized? Will her feelings go away?

Do you recommend staying faithful to your spouse if you are separating to let things cool down and in hopes of reuniting? My understanding is your still married and dating can cause a very ugly divorce?

If u r seperarated and dating can your spouse say that your having an affair and try and use that against you in divorce court
