Datsun 620 Ep.5 - Fresh Paint in the engine bay! (plus a sneak peek)

I removed all the components from the engine bay in order to lay down some fresh paint. All of the pieces that came out will be freshened up before going back into the bay. Plus a sneak peek at some custom stuff going on the engine, and some 3D printed parts for the engine bay!

Great progress! The bay came out great, love that summer squash! Those 3D printed grommets are awesome as well, what are your thoughts on printing/selling a set of those? Working on a 620 with my son and this would be great!

Tiny Garage Fabrication nice, interested in seeing how it goes. I never messed with anything like that before, when u mean two different ways I’m guessing two different Standalones?

Not two standalones, just two different ways to sense engine timing. I can use the optical sensor that is in the distributor already, as I showed in EP.1, but the previous owner kinda botched the installation. I think I'm going to laser cut a crank trigger wheel and use Ford EDIS to time the coils.

Hate it though when mirrors are on the fenders of these little trucks. They should be on the doors, otherwise you are ya gonna adjust the Mirror approprately when it's out of whack and in the fender?

Fender mirrors are great. I have them on 3 of my cars. They almost completely eliminate blind spots, and they get compliments everywhere I go. They don't just go out of whack, so I don't have to adjust them all the time. All it takes is a buddy or girlfriend or whatever to adjust as you tell them up, down, whatever. It's not a big deal at all. No more of a hassle than any other old school manual mirrors.

@@tinygaragefab Not sure about that. Somebody can push them in or out, and if you don't have anybody to help you tune them back in, then what? I much prefer them on the door, they look much better, and you can adjust them yourself.

That happens on my Hilux from time to time. It's not too bad to get out and move it back. On my Celica, the shell is one piece and just just glass moves in the housing so it can't easily be moved by someone. I haven't adjusted them since I put them on in January, and have driven almost 10,000 miles without an issue. But if you don't like them, you don't like them. No worries.
