My daughter got a pair of roller skates for her third birthday. Here she is trying to learn how to use them. Obviously, it looks like more of a workout for mommy than it did for my daugther.
Your daughter is cute, and she looks like she's having a lot of fun. Anyway, I think it might be a good idea to get her some wrist guards too, because a lot of people put their hands out to steady themselves from falling, and then end up with a broken wrist or two that way.
some tips i'll share from teaching my cousin how to skate: 1: start on grass or carpet where they can't roll. The child has to learn to not clack their feet. It sounds completely counter-intuitive, but the safest way to learn to balance on skates is when you can't actually roll. 2: Don't hold the child. Ever. All you're doing is delaying them from learning how to balance themselves. If they can't balance, they can't skate. If they fall, tough shit. 3: Don't pick the child up when they fall. Ever. Getting up is exercise for their tiny legs. 4: The absolute easiest way to get them to generate forward momentum and learn to roll, and not walk, is to try to stay still. Have the child march in place like a soldier while keeping their toes directly forward. The child needs only clear the skate off the ground, but lifting the foot just a bit higher will force the child to develop sway.. Instruct the child to continue marching while trying to remain stationary, but begin turning their toes outward slightly with each step. By the time the kid's foot gets to 25*, physics will take over and they'll start coasting forward. Prevent the child from turning their toes inward, or they'll roll backward.
I got my first roller skating shoes after years of waiting because Mom prevented me when I was 12. I am in my thirties now. I tried them this morning and it was very funny indeed. I couldn't control myself and each leg went to another side. I was holding a stick and only walked a few steps without sliding. Sometimes they push me backward while I am struggling to step. Hilarious!
She keeps saying she got it, I got it, but then when she is about to fall she is going to rely on her mom to catch her because they are on cement, not soft cushion.
when i was at my local skate zone i saw a 5 year old doing a cartwheel while having skates on then doing a split while rolling i was like WTF MAN SHE IS LIKE 6 YEARS YOUNGER AND DOING THAT (in my mind, fuck fuck fuck....)
