K12 great car, daughter had one, Nora the nissan, did 50k in it over 6.5 years. No mechanical issues, and good on fuel. Easy to maintain but a few known weaknesses, windscreen wiper linkage, rear boot switch, and airbag warning light which turned out to be wiring under passenger seat. Enjoy.
@@peterhousley Hi Peter.I have a Micra K11 and it has the same lock problen.Would you know if the ignition barrel is the same as the K12 ?Is a diy repair possible?Iwould really appreciate any advice on repairing it .Mark
I brought one in 2003 K12 ..1.4cc ..still got her 20 years on ..im 60 now...where did those years ago..🙄 I have 3 other cars and partner has car too..all big flash SUV's We still prefer to take Amber -Lee out on our Sunday drives ..its more fun we sit next to each other...great car !!
I have got the k12 got it from a family member and I am about to turn the 200000 miles in it and runs like a dream best car I have had and all the parts are very cheap as well
Bought a 2004 plate off a friend who in her 80's was giving up driving. 30k from new ,one owner. Intended to give it to my daughter to learn to drive in, then the covid pandemic hit and driving lessons were out of the question. So drove the Nissan myself as a run about. Touch wood never let me down and as you said the underside is perfect which surprised the mechanic at it's MOT. Better underneath than my XK8.😁
Agree 100%. My partner has her 20003 Micra S from new. Just 58k miles , lots of dings but still solid underneath. One thing to check is the fuel filler pipe. They rust out easily so check and paint. Also airbag light as noted above, wiper electrics. Dont park with the front wheels in a dip. The scuttle will fill with rainwater and cause the wipers to go haywire. Esmeralda has been neglected somewhat over the years but is well cared for now. Extra coat of paint on the wheel arches is beneficial also.
You're 100% right, I bought a Nissan Micra for my son. On the engine plate it had JPN, which i was told was built in Japan. Nothing went wrong at all. He kept it in good shape. 100% best first time car for a new driver. Also I would say the Nissan sunny 3 door Hatch. Sadly he was going too fast on a slippery corner.....bye bye Nissan sunny, hello Micra. Insurance was a bit naughty. His Granny had one, the 1.3 Spirita.😅
It was a red N reg 4 door. Bought for £400 In 2008, sold for £380 in 2012. Only 2 front tyres and usual annual service with no MOT notifications. Seems better than my 2011 XKR?🤣 Love your channel by the way.
Old Japanese cars last forever good example im still driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Colt 1.1 i only paid £600 for it as got fed up using a bus and train I bought it 6 years ago and its gone from 90 thousand miles to 131 thousand miles now , does 120mph on a track of course and 60mph in 10 seconds , its more than fast enough for me , the little Micras are nippy too just perfect cheap car and if it does go wrong she can always get another cheap enough as most are around £1000 online.
I did have an K12 at 2019 - til 2021. I ll remember change spark plugs its kind of hell. U have to move some bit to change them. Today we have an Peugeot 107 its more easy to change motor parts. Great channel and video.
i have the little cabriolet c+c which they say is a bit of a girls care but i do not care. I love this car. Everything works on it it's perfectly balanced and they are just great cars
I have a 2004 se 1.2. Had it for nearly 2 years and only fault I’ve had is the boot switch failed. Easy to replace though and only cost me £8 lol. There’s some little noises starting to come through now, I think it’s the timing chain but it’s done 117k miles 😂
@@life_on_cars yeah I recently had oil done and filter and yeah lol there’s no stopping these little micras paid £600 for it 2 years ago in February with 98k on clock so I got my moneys worth 😂
my mum had the k11,12 and 13..k11 was brilliant k12 wasnt great to begin with as we had to change a few things to begin with but got better as time went on bought it with about 7k miles on it and ended up with 172k changed the clutch at 152k k13 wasnt that good changed for a suzuki swift
