Never needed any reason To find deliverance Like a cancer running through my veins, oh That's never going to give in... See them march like lambs to a slaughter Toy soldiers just line up on the altar I was never meant to drink that water They'll remember me when I'm underground Heavy is the crown Never falter, never let them bleed you out I'll be still standing when they try to bring my castle down I'll never bow down Heavy is the crown Heavy is the crown Heavy is the crown When the weight the world crashing Pushing you closer to the edge You find a way to get a little bit stronger To fight all the demons, yeah See them march like lambs to a slaughter Toy soldiers line up on the altar I'll ride, hell or high water You'll remember me when I'm underground Heavy is the crown Never falter, never let them bleed you out I'll be still standing when they try to bring my castle down I'll never bow down Heavy is the crown Everything will fade away Nothing in this world is meant to stay Heavy is the crown, heavy is the crown Heavy is the crown, heavy is the crown
I totally agree and I also strongly believe that Chris can surely rock even better! He has an astonishing and pure rock voice which he doesn't often showcase! I really hope that he will meet our expectations in their forthcoming album!
Also agree! I loved his first 3 albums but the last 2 really didn't do it for me. I liked a couple tunes here and there but clearly they were more pop influenced albums. I imagine Chris was just trying to expand his audience and get more mainstream so can't blame him for trying that. But he has an amazing rock voice and this is the kind of music I want to hear from him and hope the new album more resembles the first 3 albums.
I enjoy this, but is this really.. Heavy? This is SUPER mainstream light rock. MAYBE it could be considered Hard Rock, but most bands on Rock Stations are heavier than this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Daughtry! Just asking more than anything!
@@chrisslaughter-mudsliide7050 it's a matter of perspective. This song is heavy by daughtry standards(though fat from their heaviest) especially compared to their last two albums, but if you would compare this to some other bands in the genre, like shinedown or seether, then yeah, it wouldn't seem as heavy.
Yep!! Now.. the fans need to stream/share the crap out if it to get the algorithms going in their favour. 😂 I feel like a lot of people have been missing this feel, but might not be following so closely. If that makes sense.
So understand. It will be number one in a few days. Pure Chills. Last Friday was there concert in Nashville was amazing. Early Bday gift for me. Cant wait to see the live again.
@@lis8814 I've never been able to see them. But as soon as this pandemic is under control, I don't care where I have to travel, I'm going to see them lol. Also... we may be in the same FB fan group? Lol
Man this is the Daughtry we have been looking for. Glad he broke the shackles of his contract and is making the music he wants to make. These record labels are always pushing artists in the way they think will make them the most money (pop) without realizing that the Daughtry fan base is here for the rock!
Sounding like the Daughtry with the "rock edge" I dug from the first few albums is making a comeback! This tune and World on Fire both great and have a modern rock vibe to them. Last couple albums were distinctly more pop focused so glad to hear the rock returning!
Exactly this! "World On Fire" is badass but this song has an even more clear old-school Daughtry vibe which truly makes me feel optimistic about their forthcoming album! I am anticipating even rockier and even more kickass songs from Chris!
I like bits and pieces from all his styles and albums but the first 2 albums definitely earned a special place in my heart. I used to listen to the Leave this Town CD on repeat every night.
We need more Chris Daughtry on fm radio stations. Can't stand most of the newer songs from other artists flooding the radio waves these days. I usually listen to 80s music because not very much good modern music. Chris Daughtry tops the charts, as far as I'm concerned.
Need to stream, stream, stream. I've noticed that's how most are making it onto the charts and onto the radio... high amount of streams= more radio play. Sadly, physical album sales aren't enough anymore..😒
I can't stand to listen to the radio these days. I do like the stations that play old school r&b/hip hop and 80's/90's/ early 2000's though. I rarely hear Daughtry on the radio. It's sad, I feel like they are underrated. 😟
Who else but Daughtry?!! Jesus created a strong and sensational voice to a inspirational and legendary man!!! Love your music to the death Chris!!! ❤️❤️❤️👑👑
Guys, good news. I just checked daughtry's insta story, This song tops the Hard Rock Digital Sales charts in Billboard. Congrats Daughtry and wish the best for the upcoming album and independence. Next stop Billboard Rock digital sales, and then Billboard top 100!!!! Keep it up Daughtry!!!
I’m so glad that Daughtry became famous. I still think he should have won American Idol the year he was on there. He is so talented and his voice is so unique.
Hey guys, for now, let’s send our prayers to Chris Daughtry, his Wife Deanna due to the passing of their eldest daughter. May God be their guide in this very unfortunate and hard time
I AM A BIG FAN OF DAUGHTRY MY HUBBY GOT ME INTO DAUGHTRY WHEN I 1ST LISTENED TO THIS SONG AND THOUGHT I CAN RELATE TO THIS SONG IN SO MANY WAYS , I AM SURE THERE IS ALOTTA PEOPLE WHO HAVE AND ARE NOW . BRILLIANT SONG THE LYRICS TOUCHES MY HEART DEALING WITH LOOSING MY BIG BRO TO CANCER RIP BIG BRO . AND ME DEALING WITH CANCER 4 MONTHS AFTER MY BRO PASSED I AM 2YRS AND NAILY 3MNTHS CANCER FREE
Agreed. As a Canadian, I couldn't vote... but was so disappointed when he was eliminated that I stopped watching the show after that LOL. So.. I blame all Americans for this one 😂🤪😂
I always thought it was better that he didn't. You ever notice that the ones who didn't win, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, etc., we hear stuff from them all the time, but the ones that did....it's like they just completely disappeared from existence, I hear absolutely nothing from them ever.
@@richardcompton2256 Kelly and Carrie both won.. Kelly was the first American Idol winner, Carrie won in season 4. Chris was is Season 5. But you don't hear too much from any of the winners since Carrie. Chris and Adam Lambert seem to be the only non winners who still have fairly strong careers lol.
Oh my goodness! That would be amazing to have Daughtry and Adam Lambert collaborate! Two incredibly talented singers. Two of the best voices. Different styles and ranges to their voice. That would be my dream duo! #Daughtry collab with #Adamlambert !!
With all of the rap and cardi b Olivia Rodrigo garbage in the world, Daughtry just gave us hope with this song It's a masterpiece and nothing can change my mind

Absolutely hit your mark. Duaghtry, this is your true potential, this is really good, it’s actually great! You took it to a whole new level, wow! I have a whole new respect for you! This is one of my favorite songs and I’m a guy who listens to all types of music! You absolutely created a masterpiece with this one! This is helping me in more ways than I can explain! Thank you so much!!!!
All throughout my life, Daughtry has been my favorite artist. He still is and I cannot tell you how happy it made me after a long day at school and then right after, an 8 hour shift and work, coming home to another Daughtry song. I listen to him religiously.
May I ask your age? My sons first concert was a few years ago when he was 12 I believe and it was an amazing Daughtry concert! I’ve loved him since he idol, I was 5 months pregnant when he was voted off. Seen him in concert twice. I was so happy to hear a young person praising them so much! My son is almost 15 now and he’s heard Daughtry his own entire life!
@@Ranaluv77 of course. That's awesome. I'm currently 17. I've been listening to Daughtry for as long as I can remember. His first album holds a special place in my heart as the first intro to his voice. I've never been to a concert, but after Covid I'm going to try to
@@izukamidoriya9113 that’s so cool! I love knowing younger ppl are listening to his songs, his voice is amazing and his song writing is incredible! You will love going to a concert!
Blown away, Didn't think one day i would listen to this kind of sound. Been a fan since his idol audition. The only rock band i listen since the very beginning. Rock on
Now THAT'S what Daughtry music is meant to sound like! They're back to the roots, the rock and heavy guitars are back! I can't wait for the full album to be released. I hope that the previous pop LP would turn out to be an accident - something like No Fixed Address for Nickelback.
I'm the exact same. Daughtry is THE ONLY band I buy a full album for. Other's its only a random song here & there. Even my kids know a ton of the songs
I’m a long time fan and I like baptized and cage to rattle (for me, baptized got better along the years and I listened almost every week in 2017/18), but I really missed Daughtry and Leave This Town’s years. These albums made my teenage unforgettable. This song sounds like the first two albums (specifically You Don’t Belong from LTT) and, after the the masked show, Chris gained a recognition and can do a less commercial sound and more like the post-grunge beginning (for me, it’s something that he never wanted to change and it’s his signature). Here, hope the other songs be like this and, regardless the post-grunge or pop rock sound, I’ll continue to follow, like and listen his music. You rock Chris! Never stop evolving musically!
This song is so fucking good. When I first heard it on the radio I was so happy to hear music from the band finally, and it just took me back to getting that one Daughtery CD and listening to it over and over
