People who compare The Rock to Dave Bautista really miss how talented of an a real actor Dave is. Bautista has a range and gravitas to him that The Rock just hasn't brought to any of his roles.

Yep Dwayne J is just reinforcing his The Rock role in every situation. It makes him money so sure. Bautista is really amazing and has really worked his way in.

I think you're right that there's a key difference between the two wrestler-turned-actors but I'd put the emphasis elsewhere. For my money, it's not about skill or talent. It's about emphasis. We've seen that Johnson can act - and not just in blockbusters. He did top-notch work on Pain and Gain, probably the best of his career. The biggest difference between the two is that Johnson turned himself into a brand, took safer roles, and so put the art, the acting, the craft on the back burner; Bautista is more concerned with the art itself. That's why we see him doing more artistically interesting things. He's busy acting; the Rock is busy selling branded tequila.

I love to see Dave Bautista speaking about his growth as an actor and his views of his abilities. He is too strong a figure to be typecast and can make Beast Rabban into far more than a camp stereotype. The sibling rivalry is not well played in the book and gives a new angle to the dysfunction and menace of House Harkonnen. Looking forward to the movie!!

What I like is that while they demonstrated that his character was not as sophisticated as his uncle - this version is so much better than the previous portrayal of the character. And Mr. Bautista - amazing growth in him as an actor - and he just genuinely seems like a great person.

Batista is one of the few people that have successfully transitioned from wrestling to acting. The only other ones I can think of are The Rock, and John Cena

I think we will look at Dave Bautista in 15-20years as a real established actor. Not on the level but more akin to Anthony Hopkins or Gary Oldman. Just an actors actor.
