This whole piece is very impressive but what strikes me is the almost PERFECT rhythm. So many great piano players struggle to keep a perfect rhythm but this guy nails it and it makes his playing so much more enjoyable to listen to.
@@jettaeschroff6924most piano pieces are. I’m saying that it’s impressive that his runs are all perfectly in time. This guy’s internal metronome is near perfect while so many other great piano players struggle to keep that drum like precision in their sixteenths and triplets.
I think the way he plays it is far from having a constant tempo (in the sense that a metronome would), but it's not trying to. It speeds up a lot, but great jazz (or even rock) performances played by humans often do vary tempo a lot, however what matters is how it feels in the continuity, and the groove is perfect.
This is some of the most tasteful and goosebump-inducing improv I have ever heard. I could only ever dream of playing like this. Mr. Shider is really something.
Thank you for the wonderful performance and amazing music. Your music makes my and my little sister TB's life in Korea happier, merrier, and brighter :-) You are really awesome!!
Thank you for posting your wonderful performance. I remember Horwitz hiding his little finger while playing. I tried to put my hand in that position, but I couldn't. I came to the conclusion that he was really an ET. I am telling you this secret. Don't tell anybody. Ha ha.
It's the same look Muhammad Ali gives in one of his exhibition matches where he dodges a ton of punches, then hits his opponent with this look and a shoulder shimmy lol
you RH technique is hilarious , playing octaves with second and fifth, thumb tucked to 3rds xd Dont try this at home kids, Huge hands for sure Fantastic playing, my favourite rendition
Exceptional! The interpretation of this piece is fantastic. My favourite was his improvisation as the piece itself seems a little constrained for him. Which makes his interpretation of the standard form seem unusual. I absolutely love the uniqueness of his style. Super talented pianist and musician. Love and respect from UK.
traVmire. Your comment reminds me of a man who used to drink brake fluid. A friend warned him that he could get addicted, to which he replied 'nah...I can stop anytime I like'!
I'm a realist. I enjoy his work but have you ever seen a jazz pianist playing live in a band? Playing in a band is more difficult as well cuz you have to make sure you're not dragging or rushing. And y are you so salty dude?
mug3n you know what improvisation is? Playing pieces you already know in a random order. I do too lole, not as hard as it sounds. His creativity and skill is very refined though.
Wow! I was a young child, about 5, when I heard this and my mum and dad loved it and bought the single record, which I and my two brothers heard a lot! We learned to love jazz through this song! Thank you for bringing back my memory of it Well done! It's a hard one to play! 💕💕
To the people asking for sheet music or where he learnt his technique... Come on guys, the guy is not just a musician, he is a MAGician. There's no way you could learn to play quite like that from sheet music. An amazing performance.
+Joe Greenwood By the way, Dave Brubeck didn't play from notes either. Take Five was actually written by Dave Brubeck's friend, Paul Desmond, though Brubeck quartet (which included Desmond on saxophone) was noted for playing it.

Even the ending is one of the coolest endings ive heard. Waaaauuuuuw. Once I am really good, I will take from you! Thank you so much for your musical contribution to the world. Fantastic!
This is one of my favourite piano videos on RU-vid. I think I must have watched it 30 times. We need to get it to a million. Love how happy you always look playing the piano. Your videos always put a smile on my face.
Already knowing how to play the melody and background separately, I came here to learn how to play them together, but now I want to listen to this more than figure it out on my own. Amazing job, man! Please continue to captivate everyone's ears with your incredible improvisation skills!
Absolutely mind-blowing performance, Terrence! I've listened to this about 160 times now and I still can't get nearly enough. There's rhythm and blues gushing out of your hands, man.
how come no one transcribed this in 12 years!! I keep coming back to this video every time i want to listen to the best piano take five piano version, no interpretation on youtube captures the essence of the piece more than this one. hope to find a transcribed version of this masterpiece.
Youve sparked my interest in piano again. When i began learning piano, i learned the traditional way, with tons of sheets, lots of theory. However, i felt so trapped that i had to rely on sheets and couldnt use my learned theory to play by myself. Not only that, i’m very tone deaf so it’s hard for me to recognize and match tunes, but you really inspire me to take another go at jazz piano and improv. It seems so liberating to be able to play with a guidance/restriction from sheets.
hey i Want to know what cords you use because some of them aren't in the original song and they sound so amazing, i can't lock em or by ear and ican't see exactly where your hands are.
Hlo sir! I want to talk you Can you tell me your any contact or send me email to singhdilpreet390@gmail.com This is my channel Bhai bhai Song cover here 👇👇👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qiQbA3xGdqk.html
Outstanding; phenomenal; these are just a few of the superlatives I would employ to describe this gem. Every damn time I watch this video I either: exclaim "What the fuck, this is amazing", or my head just implodes from the sheer creativity and technique. I'm not even entirely sure which chords you're playing atop the original song's structure, but they chords along with the rhythms each take such an interesting detour from the original. Amazing work!
I’ve heard a few renditions of “Take Five” this was fantastic, some are probably criticizing his hand technique but as long as he’s happy and plays like this I would pay to hear him play.
Literally perfection. The best part about this whole video is the face you make towards the camera at the end, right when you get finished melting everyones whole damn face off. Just like *POW*
