I used to be a biker when I was younger. A friend and neighbour had to give up his bike, but organised the local Motorcycle Action Group, campaigning for bikers rights and safer roads. When his wife died, MAG led the cortège with a score or more bikes in front, and more behind, clearing the traffic for the limos. I've seen other biker funerals which I wasn't involved with, and they move me every time. Real bikers respect other road users
@@DaleSykes-kr4lr Barrow. Did you not see the thousands of people turning out? It was on the news and several other RU-vid channels covered it. I live in Worcestershire. I wish we had the same sense of community. Bikers are a community too, in a sense. The 20,000 bikers who made the tribute run are not the exception. I've attended a funeral escorted by a score of motorcycles and have seen others.
Hiya Gareth, first off thank you for the chance to view the very well deserved tribute to Mr Dave Myres. Who in the words of another popular giant of entertainment world Mr Eric Morecambe : " your half a star". But really not a half, you were and still are with your life long friend Simon King. A true gentleman and part of the country's telly history. You were born a son of Barrow - in Furness, but we all claim you now. Gareth, you are a carrier for Dave (&Simon) of the flame. A select group of people who take their jobs seriously, but never themselves. Able to laugh with life and at life 😂❤Giving us that same chance, and in the present state of the world, making people feel better with a chuckle or two is a priceless gift. To Simon, I'll raise a glass of your own label beer to you with the hope of a long, happy, healthy life. To Dave, see what you can do in heavens canteen 😂❤And just Gareth, just keep doing what you do so very well. Take care of yourself and your family Allan&Family
Like most, only watched Dave on the TV, came across as a true gentleman, honest and genuine…will be missed by many across the land and beyond …. What a tribute from his Cumbrian townsfolk
Thank you so much for the video Gareth, what a wonderful thing to be able to be 'visually there'. Absolutely loved Dave, thought he was a wonderful human being and thoroughly enjoyed watching the hairy bikers on their road trips, so thanks for sharing this 😊x
Saw it on the news before. One of the bikers said that all the way up from London, nearly every motorway bridge had people on them cheering!!! what a great turn out for an absolutely lovely chap!!!! ❤
As I'm a hairy biker who loves food and loved the hairy biker shows Dave is a massive loss, not only to bikers but to food lovers and the UK, absolute legend❤
Thank you Gareth for sharing part of this wonderful tribute to the truly wonderful Dave Myers. Dave would be looking down from heaven with a smile on his face.
Greetings from Ireland, rest in peace Dave, The Hairy Bikers are legends in our house, any time they are on the TV we watch them, I loved the time that they travelled around Britian stopping off in different places and having a cook off with the chef, thank you for sharing this with us today.
A brilliant celebration of Dave's life and the magic he brought to TV ... he was truly a lovely man and a very funny guy too ... RIP dave gone but never ever forgotten x
Not going to lie: I cried. Not even from Barrow-in-Furness (I'm Scottish) but that was so touching. When Si said 'You've made David Myers very proud' all I could think was 'No; David Myers has made Barrow very proud.' May he rest in peace and rise in glory. Thanks, Gareth, for allowing us to see this. You're a bit of a Barrow gem yourself, my friend x
I went into town and watched the bikers coming into town...I was totally blown away with how many people were packing the streets!!! Then the bikers came...in their thousands. Cumbria Police estimate 45,000 Bikers. A right good effort!

From someone who's from Barrow and now living in Australia. Seeing this response and turnout has been great. Thanks for another great video and enjoy your day.
The waves on the M42 for the Bikers was absolutely fantastic!! I wondered what it was all about but a fantastic tribute to Dave Myers!! God Bless him RIP. ….Smithy
I haven't seen TV since lockdown 1. And miss almost nothing about it, but I did love the hairy bikers and was gutted to see him lose his battle. They helped get me into cooking shows. Thanks for sharing this great tribute! Rest in peace Mr Myers.
Good old Dave Myers. Got a book signed by him and Si when they were in Belfast, a year or two before the 'rona. Wouldn't have gone if it had been any other two TV cooks! Glad there's a Dave day for him. Good on yez, Barrow.
What a lovely vid to man who was very passionate about food. I enjoyed watching the Best Of British on the BBC 2 a back in 2011 with my nanna. He was loved in food world & my nanna would cook his & Si's recipes. Rest easy Dave love. From Ashleigh & my nanna Shirley. ❤❤
Thank you, so much for taking the time and effort, to remember and honour such a wonderful, home grown and much loved Man, Dave Myers. Through the many Years of watching, and thoroughly enjoying, “The Hairy Bikers”, I became an instant Fan of this Food tag-team. It was very moving to see, and hear Si King, and Dave’s Wife, pay tribute to the people of Barrow, who came to show their love and respect for one their own. Again, I think we all appreciated your generous Posting of this commemoration to a British Food Hero, and all round good guy!
I lost my mate of 30 years during COVID. Most of the friends attending his funeral had to stand outside while the service was delayed by PA speakers. His wife said "stuff social distancing" and gave me a hug, I was in bits
Great tribute to a man that seemed such a genuine bloke and like yourself gave us all so many food ideas !Fantastic to see everyone turn out thanks so much for sharing mate 👍
Thank you Gareth what a lovely tribute to Dave R.I.P DAVE you will missed by many and thank you once again Gareth for this lovely vlog well done best wishes Sheila and family
How fabulous is that? I'm a Dave and Dave taught me to de-cod tomatoes. That means getting the stalky butt out of the tomato 🍅 The Hairy Bikers were my biking heroes. God bless Dave....love to big Si
What a fantastic turnout and rightly so, Dave Myers was a beautiful human being in every sense. Many thanks Bald Foodie Guy for taking the time to let folk see this, RIP Dave Barrow forever a lovely little town god bless.
I was going to ask if ur going, I'm chuffed you have. I love rock music and Dave was a diamond. Scorpions rock u like a hurricane was one of his favourites. Well done gaz
Thank you so much Gareth, I loved the hairy bikers. The very very best of the TV chefs. Never took themselves or their cooking too seriously. They were kind and generous and passionate about hat they did. Cy must miss him as much as his family. Very good of you Gareth to show us some of that special day. 😊😊😊
Great video Gareth I rode down with North east bikers it was an honour to take part in this emotional event for a great man David Myers I would like to thank everyone who lined the streets junctions and motorway fly overs to have us a fantastic welcome it really made our day It was well after midnight when I got back home but it was worth every mile also thank you to people of Barrow for offering a spare room or there garden for any biker that needed it especially the bikers travelling long distance respect to you all for that gesture People of Barrow we salute you many thanks for a fantastic day ❤❤xx
RIP DAVE, you will be sadly missed pal 😢 so nice to see my Dad's home town of BARROW IN FURNESS come out for Dave, sadly I have not been in BARROW for years, every one has gone 😢 except for a few cousins, are family surname is WINTER! ❤ I live in South Scotland near Portpatrick/ stranraer 😀
Very enjoyable video. Dave Myers was an inspiration for so many people for cooking and biking. He will definitely be sadly missed. Thanks for sharing this with everyone on here 👍
Thanks for doing this, Dave Myers a true gentleman, a great cook and a very clever and engaging orator, he is missed. The hairy bikers were my late mother's favourite, when she was seriously ill following a stroke she could barely talk was paralysed on her left side and they had a series on at the time and for that time they were on once a week she was totally focussed on the TV with a massive grin on her face, I'm certain they were a massive part of her eventual full recovery, Dave & Si 2 ordinary blokes that prove if you are dedicated to something and put the work in you can achieve great things. Great to see Barrow folk really getting behind this event. Dave Myers an amazing soul one of a kind RIP
Thank you. I really enjoyed it your different video. I felt as though I was there! . Lovely to hear that accent. I am a descendant of Barrovian parents, grandparents and greats! I have cried quite a bit today watching all the activities. My husband and I are also ex -old bikers and I have travelled up there many a time on the bikes. Thank you to everyone, Si, Woody, Lilianna. to everyone involved and to everyone who came out to join in and make it such a success.
Wow the impact that man has had on so many people, lovely bloke, loved watching all their programmes especially the American tour one, well done for doing this you must be proud of your town on this special day.
Thank you. I was honoured to watch Dave and Si at the Wimbledon Theatre a few years back. Two of the most loveliest guys who made so many memories. His memory will last forever in the books I keep and use on a weekly basis. Sending love to his beautiful wife and family and also his best mate. Xxx
