My stats are not clear, but I'm gonna check that out as I've had annual physical exams for approx 30 years. 20 in the Navy and annually with the VA since retiring in 2012. I shot up in my last one. The Doc was very cool. Unfluttered, unscared. I was not his first Keto or Carnivore patient. I suspect this is due to all of his patients being vets, almost all men, and most of us not "normie chubby dudes." Anyway, he found me with a high enough A1C that he hesitantly asked me about any past history of diabetes. He was hesitant because he already knew I was in good shape, both as he knew my stats, and could see me. I saw on my lab sheets that yeah, the score of my glucose level says they have to check that as that level means maybe pre-diabetes. However, I'm below BMI average level for my age, in very good shape, good BP and pulse, good heart sounds, no odd fatigue or any other symptoms of any kind - so not fitting the "metabolic syndrome" one should fit if one is pre-diabetic heading toward diabetes. He did not try to change my mind about no Statins, and I left with no danger warnings from him. I since sent him a message about him prescribing a continuous glucose monitor, but so far no answer. He may realize its not needed - I'm willing to pay for it to both show him the data, and also to have more personal data about all this. Kudos to Dave, a really fine guy, who I've seen in many good vids. May he prosper and continue on his good path to help so many of us understand this stuff! I'm personally grateful that my career includes learning lots of medical lingo, and kept me interested in medical stuff. Thus now I'm finding it easier to climb up "medical knowledge mountain."

The VA will issue bg monitor to those who are prescribed insulin and are considered "brittle ". Ask to see an endocrinologist. If you're lucky, you'll get one who gives a damn and will give you a prescription for out of pocket purchase.

So, what about someone who has lost 100 lbs, no longer on any meds for T2D, Gurd, or sleep. My ratio for tri/hdl is .84, my ratio for apoA/apob is .88. My cholesterol is 186, and my doctor wants me on statins... I went from a 42 waist to a 32. All my blood markers are all in the middle, except Vit D is low. I just don't understand how that the doc wants me on statins when all my other markers are fine, and I feel great! Except, he said my CAC was 294, and I'm at high risk. I mostly eat meat and very, very few carbs. If any at all. And it's only once in a while. I personally don't feel well when I consume simple carbs.

Great stuff. Dr Nadir Ali talked about Ketogenesis and LDL having a shared protoenzyme. I always eat low carb and notice my LDL is higher when fasting. The longer the fast, the higher the ketones and LDL. I am 72 and no metabolic disorders. Not anymore. I wonder if Dave Feldman is looking at this.

What causes of raised C or LDL? If related to pancreas, thyroid, (of course liver), bile... ? Am reading in nutrition book that some deficiencies can raise C and taking some nutrients can lower C. Was not keto but maybe LC but not by design, was using SCD to heal digestion. My C, LDL raising, but TG good and HDL What labs related to these things are being done for the study?

Hi Dave, I’ve recently had a lipid profile conducted and likely fall into the LMHR category. If I could assist in anyway please reach out.

I have metabolic syndrome on keto and my ldl sky rocketed to 345. What is going on?

You may be an LMHR. What did your HDL and triglycerides do on keto?
@jeffnorman5457

2 months carnivore. LDL, Hdl, total, triglycerides, and A1c increased. No idea why.

So acutely LMHR see a reduction in LDL-C upon high fat diet but in the long term they develop very high LDL-C with high fat diets? I’m having a difficult time understanding this part.
@gilliani.4328

So what I’m hearing is that carnivore & keto may not necessarily be safe for everyone. That being said, it’s near impossible to find a truly “educated” doctor to help guide us through this and get the testing necessary.
