Beautiful song. I just heard this rendition and went straight to RU-vid to see ANYONE react to this and you came up. Brother, I lost my grandfather while I was in Afghanistan also in 2011. I didn’t know until I came home when my dad told me he had passed 3 months earlier. He kept it from me while I was there to ensure I wouldn’t be overwhelmed with stress while already in a stressful environment. Sometimes I wish a Red Cross message was sent so I could see him one last time. I think about him constantly and I’m sure you do as well. Great reaction brother, I feel your pain. We’ll see them again!

My grandpa adopted me so really a father. He passed while i was in Germany (stationed and was doing a mission) and I didn’t make it back in time the Cov took him 8 hours before my flight took off. And due to cov didnt really get that closure of seeing him one last time.
Hey man, I may not know you, but my heart goes out to you. I've lost so many people in my life - including both Grandparents on both sides. You mentioned that you were in Afghanistan, welcome home. I take it you were in the military. May I ask you what branch? I did 9 years in the US Navy - in submarines, and I lost two uncles during my time in. I came back from one submarine patrol, and the first thing I heard my adopted mom say to me was my uncle was dead. Not welcome home, nothing. Even when I told her I just came back from deployment, she told me "I don't care." So man, I understand how you feel. I lost my first Grandpa back in 1989 when I was 7.
