Extra's Adam Weissler talks to Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan about their new album, Delta Machine, 2013 tour, and much more... April 2013. Follow @adamextra
I was just going to say.. Dave could read a phone book and it would still sound exciting. Such a unique and sexy voice. I got to say, though I love his British Essex accent the most.. sometimes you can hear that American slight influence, which I guess he's picked up from living there, rather than faking it, I hope... Either way love him since I was 13, and now I'm 40.. whatever the accent. He's so gorgeous he should be paying some kind of tax for being so beautiful lol
Yes! Dave is not my dad's age (my dad is going to be 50 this year so I guess Dave is close to my dad's age) but Dave is 3 years younger than my mom and I think he is so hot and sexy lol
So glad Dave is with us today. He went through hell and back in the early 90's. And glad that he is able to still make incredible music with Depeche Mode.
Honestly, He looks just too good, you feel constant drift of confidence and knowledge. And the voice, THE VOICE!!! is making me fall into abyss, It is absolutely hypnotically. The most influential person for me, I just can't get enough. 😻
First night at the Staples Center I sat next to a 17 yr and his 10 yr old brother...actually made the moment even more precious. BTW 10 yr old knew all the words to every song!
It's beautiful how he always makes the fans feel his love towards them during a gig. The Warsaw concert last summer-unforgettable! Thanks, guys, I'll love you for ever just like I have for over 22 years now.
DM is like the blood in my veins,I need it to live!! Please keep making music for as long as possible,These guy's are still so down to earth after all these years,Thank you for your "precious" gift to our world!!!
🌹I am the same age as Dave and have always been a fan of his and the rest of Depeche Mode. They have always been in my heart and there has never been one of their songs i don't like. Dave has also got a lovely smile, bless him ❤️
Dave is aging remarkably well considering all the damage from excesses his body's endured during his younger days. He's aging the best out of all the other members. Good for you Dave!
Jesper Ottonello I fall in liove in their music when i saw on TV video "World In My Eyes" (i was then 15 years old) and still "Just Can't Get Enough" :D
Although I'm not into all of their newer albums, I do admire that they continually strive to be artists, to create something new. As far as I'm concerned, this is all you can ask of anyone creative.
Dave looks so big on stage and so tiny next to the interviewer :) His such an amazing guy... talented and thoughtful and so well spoken.. crazy charisma on stage, magical voice... LOVE HIM!!!
At 13:02, "You can't be walking on a stage out in front of 40-50,000 people and half-ass it!" Dave, my dearest! You never do! DM and Sade are the only bands that I've had the honor of seeing live every decade since the 80's. Neither one has ever disappointed!!! Thank you 106.7 KROQ for introducing me to DM!
I’m so delightful to hear him speak getting interviewed. Love his voice singing and speaking. Dave is the greatest guy ever on stage and off stage. Love him dearly❤️😎❤️😎❤️😎❤️😎❤️
I love DM since I was 14-15 years old. Now I'm 22 and after a DM's gig in Warsaw my bf asked me why I'm crying. I told him: Depeche Mode is a huge part of my life, and it will be until I die, because their music is some kind a sountrack of my life. It touches me so deeply so I'm crying.
Excellent Interview. That's the way you conduct and interview. You ask a few questions and you let the artist talk. You don't rehash their dirty laundry from 20 years ago. Brilliant!
DM does not have to worry about remaining an 80's band, their old stuff is still as relevant to today's society as their new stuff is. I have listened to them since 83' and seen them in concert and going to this show too. My class was amazed at the lyrics and mood of DM and were blown away when I matched pitch tone and mood of Dave as I sang and graded papers. They said I could actually sing! I quickly added 'yes but I am not Dave Gahan. and there is only ONE DEPECHE MODE :)
Awesome Interview #DaveGahan Depeche Mode - still making Music for the Masses, yeah! "In the hotel gym I talk with Paul McCartney and the Stones are around..."
ty dave for being alive past 95 and love your hanging with british stars keep making songs an lyrics and ill be a ticket buyer love ya buddie keep living
Incredibile come sia sempre risorto quest'uomo, con tutte le difficoltà vissute, consapevole che siamo sempre in bilico tra ombra e luce. un grande artista ed un grande uomo.
this interview is very very inspiring. I have to agree with the comments from many here about how incredibly natural and modest dave gahan is despite the high profile of DM. It's is more though. He really comes across as an open and gentle soul. I think he has had some kind of rebirth since his mid 90s rock persona. i wish his so much happiness :)
Awesome interview! Dave is definitely at the top of his game, he looks wonderful and sounds fantastic and is such an inspiration still after all of these years, They make no bands like them anywhere and i will always be a dedicated fan.
Just saw Depeche Mode at a concert last night.........loved, loved, loved the show......Dave, you are amazing.......don't ever stop what you are doing!
A real good interviw to Mr. Dave. Dave go beeing yourself. Beeing relaxed and enjoying life. Thank you to beeing our inspiration during a whole life. We bless you ♡
Very good interview... We see them saturday night in PARIS.. It was a fantastic concert... Welcome to the planet DM and we never let them down again, never.... We love them since the begining and for ever and ever..... French fans
I first heard Depeche Mode in Scotland when I was visiting My Dad, and I became an Instant fan > I thought they were a Band from France because of their name. The radio station, at that time, said they pronounced their name 'day pe sha' Mode...They are very Unique Musically ~ It's amazing they got together in the 1980's! Keep on Rockin' in the Free World+
Vladimir, you don't have to expect jb's generation understand what real music is. I won't ever, either. But so proud I'm in that generation, but being crazy about Depeche Mode for over 7 years now. I'm aware that's rare, but still, there still is hope, right? Now I can only smile at them knowing what are they missing. Greetings!:)
I'm part of Justin Beiber's generation as well, and I've been a devoted Depeche Mode fan since I was 8 or 9 years old (I'm 22). JB and the other brutal pop stars/ boybands just gives this generation a bad rap, making people assume that we're all just a bunch simpletons who don't understand or appreciate real musical talent. How wrong they are. But it is really a shame how dumb down this generation is being perceived just because of what is considered popular.
